Mallagroth Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 **** I'm gutted for him. I see it as testament to his commitment. Jay busted his world cup going for a 50/50 ball in a game that most would consider a game that was not worth much to our teams continued season, but he still put his all in, a true professional. He Didn't deserve this, it's ****, but he's a hero in my eyes for caring enough and committing to the Saints to be in the situation in the first place. Get well soon J-rod.
Ziggy Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Awful news. Get well soon Jay. I love your commitment and enthusiasm.
corky morris Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Really gutted for him. Not sure he was going to Brazil, but he sure was making it difficult for Hodgson to ignore him. Saints will miss him big time!

It was not a 50/50 challenge, nearest City player was 3 or 4 yds away. Of course the game meant something to our season, at the time we were pushing on in the game and dominating possession and chances. IF we could have got something out of the game we could still have caught manure.

Indeed he went up high to control a ball and landed badly so that his knee folded under him, lovely bit of control though.
skintsaint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Hopefully back next season for us at the same standard as this season. Some of the crap on FB etc, sending him cards saying get well etc is a bit OTT. He's not got a terminal illness or something.
Pastor Patrón Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Not trying to play the blame game but aren't these often caused by over use? I'm pretty sure that's what caused proper Ronaldo so many problems wasn't it? One of his acl injuries he just jumped for a corner then landed normally and it snapped.
Solid Saint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Poor Jay. If there is a harder working forward in the Premiership this year, I must have missed them. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and back to his best asap!
krissyboy31 Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Really unfortunate injury and a long road to recovery. You could see by his face that he knew straight away. Wishing Jay the best and hopes he comes back to challenge for the Euros squad.
gazzzza Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Probably need to sign 2 strikers then. Nightmare, hope he recovers well and we see him back before Christmas. Go go and sign Welbeck. Ings & Vokes look impressive for Burnley
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Ings & Vokes look impressive for Burnley Vokes has the same injury.
dubai_phil Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Absolutely gutted for the lad. I felt he had a cracking chance of making it to Brazil as he plays with a brain unlike other contenders like Wellbeck. It was no consolation to him but it was a nice touch how the Citeh fans applauded him off the pitch on Saturday. Hope he gets through the Op OK and I wish him well with all the rehab.

Hope he recovers well and makes a strong comeback for the Saints. All is not lost J-Rod, the Euros are just two years away!
Shanghai Saint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 All the best Jay. Looking forward to seeing you back as soon as possible.
Marsdinho Posted 9 April, 2014 Posted 9 April, 2014 Sorry if already posted, but Saints have set up a web page where you can leave messages for Jay. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/07042014-getwellsoonjay-1474362.aspx
trousers Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC Jay Rodriguez is one of four nominated for the Barclays Player of the Month award. #saintsfc He’s up against Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Romelu Lukaku for the prize. Winner announced later this week. Good luck, Jay! #saintsfc
saint1977 Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 A link in the Derby Telegraph to Danny Ings. Is my memory failing me or has he come back from ACL-type injury even quicker (in terms of pace)? Similarly direct player to J Rod.

Winner announced later this week. Good luck, Jay! #saintsfc A bit of posthumous recognition, at least.
Bearsy Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 A bit of posthumous recognition, at least. Word. Is there any news for the minute's silence on saturday? I mean obv we'll be doing it but will all prem games be doing it? Would be nice mark of respect.
Toon Saint Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Word. Is there any news for the minute's silence on saturday? I mean obv we'll be doing it but will all prem games be doing it? Would be nice mark of respect. A few Twitter folk are suggesting a round of applause in the ninth minute. ScummerAndProud @sparkythebabler 58m Deffo think 1 minutes applause in 9th minute would be great to support Jay! #saintsfc I think the 9th minute has something to do with the no. 9 shirt that he used to wear. Forever in our memories, Jay.
Bearsy Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Brilliant. I knew the fanbase would come together in these dark times. I actually think we should retire the #9 shirt as a mark of respect to jay. RIP
Bearsy Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 I will be having 9 pints as a mark of respect. Dangerous precedent. What if Luke Shaw gets injure?
Goatboy Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Dangerous precedent. What if Luke Shaw gets injure? Just a warm up for Sam Gallagher.
Noodles34 Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Poor Jay. If there is a harder working forward in the Premiership this year, I must have missed them. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and back to his best asap! You've missed Suarez and Rooney then....
Bearsy Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 every disappointing result we have in the next 6 months will be due to jay rod's absence. I just wanted to say that now cos it will save me the trouble of saying it in every match thread. RIP
Special K Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Word is that Kat has commissioned a statue. Where's the campaign to re-name Southampton Airport FFS. And a road or something permanent like that. Who the f**k is Thomas Lewis anyway? I might buy some Asda lo-price sausages and make a stew type dish to name after him. They contain ligaments and stuff so i will fondly remember JayRod as i chew through the gristly platter.
Lets B Avenue Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 every disappointing result we have in the next 6 months will be due to jay rod's absence. I just wanted to say that now cos it will save me the trouble of saying it in every match thread. RIP Is that why Alpine has started a thread about being worried for next season? He isn't going to mention it again?
Solid Saint Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 You've missed Suarez and Rooney then.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2602212/Nine-ten-players-Premier-League-distance-covered-table-English-West-Hams-Noble-leading-running-NINE-London-Marathons-season.html Yeah, looks like I'm not the only one either.
M271 Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Any news on Jay? Did he have an operation and was the initial scan diagnosis confirmed? There must be different degrees of ruptured ligament. I guess at this point of his recovery he is just in a cast with his leg immobile.
Toon Saint Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Operation is next week. He had fluid drained from knee this week.
Saint Jude Posted 19 April, 2014 Posted 19 April, 2014 Jay in west Quay today... Operation on Tuesday.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
fanimal Posted 23 April, 2014 Posted 23 April, 2014 What is it with all our players growing beards? can't they afford shavers anymore?!
Bearsy Posted 23 April, 2014 Posted 23 April, 2014 beards is height of fashion for hipsters, scenesters + prem footballers. I'm growing one myself. It's got cornflakes in it.

Restark19 Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 good video from the club today talking to Jay about his injury/recovery, really feel for the lad and good to see how hard he's working to get back to full fitness
redder freak Posted 24 May, 2014 Posted 24 May, 2014 Nice one Jay. Looking forward to having you back next season. At least he's out of the 'sell all best Southampton players and manager' media hysteria spotlight at the moment.
niceandfriendly Posted 24 May, 2014 Posted 24 May, 2014 Good video. Saints' media department is tearing it up.
skintsaint Posted 24 May, 2014 Posted 24 May, 2014 God J-Rod is sooo dull.. Good to see him determined to get back though and is too eager too it seems!
Window Cleaner Posted 24 May, 2014 Posted 24 May, 2014 God J-Rod is sooo dull.. Good to see him determined to get back though and is too eager too it seems! I don't know, Falcao had roughly the same injury at the end of January and he's back with the Columbian squad for the WC. Whether he'll actually play I couldn't say but he thinks he will.
Delboy Dave Posted 24 May, 2014 Posted 24 May, 2014 Lolz at the bit where he comments on the paragraphs in the fan comment book
trousers Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 "Another 7 or 8 weeks before he'll be back in full training" according to Koeman at this afternoon's pre-match conference
hypochondriac Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 "Another 7 or 8 weeks before he'll be back in full training" according to Koeman at this afternoon's pre-match conference Will at least mean he won't be off in January.
