RESULTS OF SUPPORTER BALLOT

TOTAL ELIGIBLE TO VOTE - 15,033

TOTAL VOTES CAST - 5,874

IN FAVOUR - 2,565

AGAINST - 2,517

INDIFFERENT - 792

RESULT: Name change accepted by supporters of the club.

I don't understand - why wouldn't you vote on this, even if it was just to say you were indifferent?

For example if it were for 'Southampton Saints', would you vote - even if just to say you didn't mind?

I really don't get why you would just not bother at all. It at least gives a conclusive answer.

I'm quite jel of hull tigers, i think it's a cool name! I dunno bout Southampton Saints, but i would vote for Southampton Serpents or Southampton Sexcrimes or something cool like that

Considering the supposed strength of the "no" brigade before this vote, it seems absolutely staggering that there wouldn't be a larger turnout in the ballot. While the question is clearly weighted with the threat of Allam selling up (who's going to buy them, seriously?), if the fans opposed the name change so much they'd have at least bothered to vote and registered their opinion, even if Allam ended up trying to force the change through anyway.

bit sour grapes! I'd like to see the question sheet tho, by that dudes account it was:

a) Would you like to see Hull Tigers in Premier League with financial backing of wealthy owners

b) Would you like Hull City in League One in Administration with no owners and points deduction and half the first team squad has AIDS

c) not bothered

Just shows how fickle fans are. Like the wrath when Adkins was sacked which mounted to almost nothing against Everton at home

Maybe because we were mostly mature enough to realise it was pointless and could have a negative effect on the team in an important game.

That's pretty much how it is to be fair, even without the exaggeration. Wasn't a fair vote at all. Essentially Allam is saying it's either my way and the name change, or I p*ss off and possibly leave your club in financial difficulty. Isn't fair at all and I can't see how changing the name to Tigers is realistically going to affect how marketable Hull are at all.

Nothing really happened before or after the game. A few people waved a white Hanky and that was about it

What I don't understand, is why they didn't go for "Hull City Tigers" - Sounds better to me at least :mcinnes:

No tigers live in the city apart from in the zoo though silly, and that doesn't apply in Hull. They could call themselves the Hull City Sanitation System Sewer Rats but that doesn't really roll off the tongue like Hull Tigers does. Makes perfect sense to me.

Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise.

And what if they said we were changing the kit to blue ???

FSF STATEMENT ON HULL CITY AFC BALLOT:

The Football Supporters' Federation said: “Many Hull City fans have already contacted us to express their concerns in relation to the flawed ballot.

“It wasn’t neutrally worded and was a clear attempt to create a ‘yes’ vote. Even then, only one in six season ticket holders has voted yes.

“Fans are also concerned that they were required to identify themselves when voting, hardly surprising since the chairman has been openly hostile to those who disagree with him.

“The club might be allocating FA Cup final tickets soon and some fans who voted ‘no’ fear they’ll have a black mark against their name during the application process. It might even have discouraged some from voting ‘no’ in the first place.

“The ballot was not supervised by an accredited, neutral agency such as the Electoral Reform Society. Did multiple voting occur? Some fans reported IT problems while another fan was told ballot boxes were removed from the stadium early because of a rugby game.

“Hull City’s ballot does not stand up to scrutiny and we have already written to the FA arguing exactly that. The FA’s National Council will look at this issue on Wednesday – they should back their Membership Committee’s recommendation and reject the name change.”

Yep.

The clubs name still has "Hull" in it. Whats the bloody problem ? No-one made a fuss about the ruggah buggahs or the one-day county cricket teams

From what I've read and seen, it doesn't look as though the vote itself would stand up to any semblance of scrutiny. From loaded questions, procedural irregularities, no independent oversight, lack of a secret ballot & potential voter intimidation (from both sides??), it looks a real sham of a process.

Personally, I think the idea sounds awful, (then again maybe I'm an old fart), but surely the weirdest thing is the notion that as a result of the name change, the world famous Hull City will start to rake in millions from their soon to be found Far East fanbase!

Either way, they can hardly call it a mandate to proceed with a majority of 48 and less than 2.6k voting for it. Only season ticket holders we eligible to vote and the question was agree with the name change with the Allams still in charge (suggesting if you voted no, they would no longer be). Even the "City till We Die" campaign don't want to lose the owners. Many abstained as a sham.

Southampton FC should wear Red and White, be nicknamed The Saints, play within the city boundaries and only field players from Southampton or with a very strong link as should all its staff...

I just googled "southampton sexcrimes", and the top page was a blog by some guy called Brian Earsy.

I think there is a huge difference between a name change related to an already established connection such as "Tigers" compared to a sponsor related change like, for instance, Hull Red Bulls......In that scenario, I think we would see a much bigger reaction.

It probably will abroad, as long as they're in the prem.
