Saint-Armstrong Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 RESULTS OF SUPPORTER BALLOT TOTAL ELIGIBLE TO VOTE - 15,033 TOTAL VOTES CAST - 5,874 IN FAVOUR - 2,565 AGAINST - 2,517 INDIFFERENT - 792 RESULT: Name change accepted by supporters of the club. I don't understand - why wouldn't you vote on this, even if it was just to say you were indifferent? For example if it were for 'Southampton Saints', would you vote - even if just to say you didn't mind? I really don't get why you would just not bother at all. It at least gives a conclusive answer.
Griffo Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise.
Saints foreva Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise. This.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise. Because it's just a name and doesn't really matter.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 7 April, 2014 Author Posted 7 April, 2014 I'm not questioning the YES/NO of the vote, I'm just questioning why 9,000 season ticket holders just wouldn't bother to vote.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 I don't understand - why wouldn't you vote on this, even if it was just to say you were indifferent? why would you bother voting to say ur indifferent? I'm quite jel of hull tigers, i think it's a cool name! I dunno bout Southampton Saints, but i would vote for Southampton Serpents or Southampton Sexcrimes or something cool like that
Griffo Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Because it's just a name and doesn't really matter. What if I had the power to change your name and you couldn't do anything about it?
Sour Mash Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise. Exactly. Look at the reaction from some on here on our change of home kit.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 What if I had the power to change your name and you couldn't do anything about it? i would vote for that! Window Licker or Wankstick Cleaner
stevegrant Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Considering the supposed strength of the "no" brigade before this vote, it seems absolutely staggering that there wouldn't be a larger turnout in the ballot. While the question is clearly weighted with the threat of Allam selling up (who's going to buy them, seriously?), if the fans opposed the name change so much they'd have at least bothered to vote and registered their opinion, even if Allam ended up trying to force the change through anyway.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 What if I had the power to change your name and you couldn't do anything about it? But I'd still be me, a name is a name, it changes nothing.
Griffo Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 But I'd still be me, a name is a name, it changes nothing. Ok then.
Goatboy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 But I'd still be me, a name is a name, it changes nothing. I agree Doris.
Olallana Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 If Hull struggled in PL and was looking to go down again, would it be different then?
Batman Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Just shows how fickle fans are. Like the wrath when Adkins was sacked which mounted to almost nothing against Everton at home
Window Cleaner Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 I agree Doris. I had a mate years back, his GFs were all called Doris, new Doris, Old Doris, Friday Doris, Sh@g Behind the Tram Sheds Doris. Now an important personage at the Town Hall I believe.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Just shows how fickle fans are. Like the wrath when Adkins was sacked which mounted to almost nothing against Everton at home ur one to talk delldays! Where is ur history? Where is ur tradition???

CB Saint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 http://notohulltigers.tumblr.com/post/82001777660/ballot-result-response-from-ctwd gracious in defeat then.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 bit sour grapes! I'd like to see the question sheet tho, by that dudes account it was: a) Would you like to see Hull Tigers in Premier League with financial backing of wealthy owners b) Would you like Hull City in League One in Administration with no owners and points deduction and half the first team squad has AIDS c) not bothered
The Cat Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Just shows how fickle fans are. Like the wrath when Adkins was sacked which mounted to almost nothing against Everton at home Maybe because we were mostly mature enough to realise it was pointless and could have a negative effect on the team in an important game.
Goatboy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 d) Please leave answers/debit cards/PIN in the shoebox provided.
The Cat Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 http://notohulltigers.tumblr.com/post/82001777660/ballot-result-response-from-ctwd Those tiger onesies are a thing of beauty.

Wasn't a fair vote at all. Essentially Allam is saying it's either my way and the name change, or I p*ss off and possibly leave your club in financial difficulty. Isn't fair at all and I can't see how changing the name to Tigers is realistically going to affect how marketable Hull are at all.
Batman Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Maybe because we were mostly mature enough to realise it was pointless and could have a negative effect on the team in an important game. Nothing really happened before or after the game. A few people waved a white Hanky and that was about it
Saint86 Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 I don't understand - why wouldn't you vote on this, even if it was just to say you were indifferent? For example if it were for 'Southampton Saints', would you vote - even if just to say you didn't mind? I really don't get why you would just not bother at all. It at least gives a conclusive answer. What I don't understand, is why they didn't go for "Hull City Tigers" - Sounds better to me at least
supersonic Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 more important question is "who cares?" I think 9,000 people buying a season ticket shows their level of commitment rather than voting in some survey
SuperMikey Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 What I don't understand, is why they didn't go for "Hull City Tigers" - Sounds better to me at least No tigers live in the city apart from in the zoo though silly, and that doesn't apply in Hull. They could call themselves the Hull City Sanitation System Sewer Rats but that doesn't really roll off the tongue like Hull Tigers does. Makes perfect sense to me.
farawaysaint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Loaded ballot so most abstained by all accounts. Still being shown as a vote for the name change though.
PhilippineSaint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Why didnt they just get sponsored by Tiger Beer from Singapore they would have had Tiger a cross the front of the shirts and nobody would have said a thing.
danner Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise. And what if they said we were changing the kit to blue ???
bazza Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 FSF STATEMENT ON HULL CITY AFC BALLOT: The Football Supporters' Federation said: “Many Hull City fans have already contacted us to express their concerns in relation to the flawed ballot. “It wasn’t neutrally worded and was a clear attempt to create a ‘yes’ vote. Even then, only one in six season ticket holders has voted yes. “Fans are also concerned that they were required to identify themselves when voting, hardly surprising since the chairman has been openly hostile to those who disagree with him. “The club might be allocating FA Cup final tickets soon and some fans who voted ‘no’ fear they’ll have a black mark against their name during the application process. It might even have discouraged some from voting ‘no’ in the first place. “The ballot was not supervised by an accredited, neutral agency such as the Electoral Reform Society. Did multiple voting occur? Some fans reported IT problems while another fan was told ballot boxes were removed from the stadium early because of a rugby game. “Hull City’s ballot does not stand up to scrutiny and we have already written to the FA arguing exactly that. The FA’s National Council will look at this issue on Wednesday – they should back their Membership Committee’s recommendation and reject the name change.” FSF letter to the FA: http://fsf.org.uk/assets/Downloads/News/F SF-LETTER-Hull-City-Ballot-Letter-March-2 014.pdf
alpine_saint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Let's be honest, the majority of Saints would vote similarly for the name change if it meant the owners would stay. Let's not pretend otherwise. Yep. The clubs name still has "Hull" in it. Whats the bloody problem ? No-one made a fuss about the ruggah buggahs or the one-day county cricket teams
Secret Site Agent Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 I would vote for the Pompey Bandits, inn the hope that they would be sponsored by RS Components. So they could become the Pompey R S Bandits.
Griffo Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Yep. The clubs name still has "Hull" in it. Whats the bloody problem ? No-one made a fuss about the ruggah buggahs or the one-day county cricket teams I would care hugely. But most of our support wouldn't.
um pahars Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Considering the supposed strength of the "no" brigade before this vote, it seems absolutely staggering that there wouldn't be a larger turnout in the ballot. From what I've read and seen, it doesn't look as though the vote itself would stand up to any semblance of scrutiny. From loaded questions, procedural irregularities, no independent oversight, lack of a secret ballot & potential voter intimidation (from both sides??), it looks a real sham of a process. Personally, I think the idea sounds awful, (then again maybe I'm an old fart), but surely the weirdest thing is the notion that as a result of the name change, the world famous Hull City will start to rake in millions from their soon to be found Far East fanbase!
krissyboy31 Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Either way, they can hardly call it a mandate to proceed with a majority of 48 and less than 2.6k voting for it. Only season ticket holders we eligible to vote and the question was agree with the name change with the Allams still in charge (suggesting if you voted no, they would no longer be). Even the "City till We Die" campaign don't want to lose the owners. Many abstained as a sham.
JN9 Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 Southampton FC should wear Red and White, be nicknamed The Saints, play within the city boundaries and only field players from Southampton or with a very strong link as should all its staff...
scotty Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 why would you bother voting to say ur indifferent? I'm quite jel of hull tigers, i think it's a cool name! I dunno bout Southampton Saints, but i would vote for Southampton Serpents or Southampton Sexcrimes or something cool like that I just googled "southampton sexcrimes", and the top page was a blog by some guy called Brian Earsy.
Ohio Saint Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 I think there is a huge difference between a name change related to an already established connection such as "Tigers" compared to a sponsor related change like, for instance, Hull Red Bulls......In that scenario, I think we would see a much bigger reaction.
scotty Posted 8 April, 2014 Posted 8 April, 2014 That's pretty much how it is to be fair, even without the exaggeration. Wasn't a fair vote at all. Isn't fair at all and I can't see how changing the name to Tigers is realistically going to affect how marketable Hull are at all. It probably will abroad, as long as they're in the prem.
