John Boy Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 The thing that stunned me was the instant he hit the deck and was in pain all the Man City players stopped, signalled to stop the game, and for the physio. Just wish him well for a full recovery, however long it takes.
Toon Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Always hard to tell with knee injuries, though I do fear he's done his ACL. Let's just hope its similar to the Gaston and Dejan injuries and that it isn't as bad as first feared. (I thought both could be out for the season given the manner in which they went off the field) Either way it is going to be tough for him to bag a WC place, but let's just hope that it doesn't affect his career long-term. Gutted for him!

Gutted for him! I really, really hope not. It could be devastating if it is. We all saw what a shadow of his former self Michael Owen was after he suffered a similar injury. Both players rely heavily on pace for their game, and Owen was just never as quick or as effective ever again after his return from that.

Both players rely heavily on pace for their game, and Owen was just never as quick or as effective ever again after his return from that. I think it was more Owen's constant thigh and groin injuries which depleted his pace, as opposed to the knee injury. Jay is still very young and with the doctors and medical technologies available at the moment, if it is that severe, then there is no reason to believe that he cannot return to the same level as is now.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Really feel for the guy. Has been 2nd only to Lallana in terms of performance this season for me. Really deserved a spot on the plane to Brazil, though I'm not convinced he would have made it. Guess that's one less decision for Woy.
wildsaint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 See post 50 no he said from those ITK not just a bulk standard response to the media from the club.

Hopefully yes, but it will take time to heal and patience from everyone at SMS. It's been a hard road for him to get this far, when you consider the "impatience" of some fans after last season's performances.
Morph Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Interesting following his brother on Twitter; https://twitter.com/KikoRod9 Seems his pain has reduced. Looking forward to further good news Morph

Edmonton Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 That was I thinking when I read the tweet. The bit saying he has his fingers crossed he will recover is very alarming!

Ohio Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Anyway, there goes my silly little fantasy of 3 Saints players scoring and assisting all 3 goals in the world cup final.........More importantly though, get well soon, Jay!
DT Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Just seen it on motd. Hope it's not acl, as someone who's had that playing footie. Would be 6 months out. Silence so far suggests it's bad methinks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ohio Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Rickie, Adam and Luke... I had thought my original fantasy was one hell of a stretch!! Luke to be called up AND to score?
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 April, 2014 Posted 6 April, 2014 Interesting following his brother on Twitter; https://twitter.com/KikoRod9 Seems his pain has reduced. Looking forward to further good news Morph Well.... Some people have been known to play again straight after tearing an ACL, as what happened with Gazza Its such a bad injury as it doesnt have a blood supply and so cannot repair itself. Its normally damage to other parts of the knee that provides the 'pain' so without wanting to play devils advocate I think its worse news that he has no pain, especially if he has plenty of swelling.

Andy Durman Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Hoping for the best, just like Ramirez injury looked terrible, but he was back in 4 weeks. It's just that a knee shouldn't bend in that direction?? It was almost like a dislocation.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 omg i've just realised I've got no pain in my knee! Does this mean I'm f*cked??? smirking! help me pls i'm v.worried bout this!

Hatch Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 He's got a 25% chance of playing in the next game according to Fantasy Premier League... and to counteract that , physio room has no return date http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php Which in other words, same as us, we have no clue.
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 I think I will have to put that theory on ignore and hope for the best. Unfortunately, I know a few things about knee injuries but I am hoping so much that it isnt a bad one

Monk Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Nothing we don't already know. Swelling reduced as has the pain, scan today. Staff at SGP are very eager to be kept in the loop.
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 They need to wait for any swelling to go down. Does anyone know of a nurse who could help?
InvictaSaint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Nothing we don't already know. Swelling reduced as has the pain, scan today. Staff at SGP are very eager to be kept in the loop. Sorry Monk, but who or what is SGP?
InvictaSaint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 They need to wait for any swelling to go down. Does anyone know of a nurse who could help? They tend to have the opposite effect in my experience....
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 Sorry Monk, but who or what is SGP? National football centre in burton St georges park
Viking Warrior Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 It is normal to wait for any knee swelling to go down Hes probably had an initial MRI scan or something similar. Although an MRI scan is not necessarily needed especially as a lachman test would indicate straight away if it was the ACL It could be any of the ligaments, Posterial, medial, lateral or anterior ligaments that are torn or sprained , none of us no what is wrong Im letting the specialist determine what is wrong and I will wait to here the club annoucement I hope the injury is not to bad given the way he landed and twisted My Thoughts are with JRod and I hope he is back sooner rather than later
John Boy Saint Posted 7 April, 2014 Posted 7 April, 2014 National football centre in burton St georges park Oooo you don't want to be going there, they had that Noro virus or whatever it's called in November wiped out loads, bet it's still lurking in the $h@gpile carpets!
