The thing that stunned me was the instant he hit the deck and was in pain all the Man City players stopped, signalled to stop the game, and for the physio.

Just wish him well for a full recovery, however long it takes.

Always hard to tell with knee injuries, though I do fear he's done his ACL. Let's just hope its similar to the Gaston and Dejan injuries and that it isn't as bad as first feared. (I thought both could be out for the season given the manner in which they went off the field)

Either way it is going to be tough for him to bag a WC place, but let's just hope that it doesn't affect his career long-term. Gutted for him!

I really, really hope not. It could be devastating if it is.

We all saw what a shadow of his former self Michael Owen was after he suffered a similar injury. Both players rely heavily on pace for their game, and Owen was just never as quick or as effective ever again after his return from that.

I think it was more Owen's constant thigh and groin injuries which depleted his pace, as opposed to the knee injury. Jay is still very young and with the doctors and medical technologies available at the moment, if it is that severe, then there is no reason to believe that he cannot return to the same level as is now.

Really feel for the guy. Has been 2nd only to Lallana in terms of performance this season for me.

Really deserved a spot on the plane to Brazil, though I'm not convinced he would have made it.

Guess that's one less decision for Woy.

Hopefully yes, but it will take time to heal and patience from everyone at SMS. It's been a hard road for him to get this far, when you consider the "impatience" of some fans after last season's performances.

Anyway, there goes my silly little fantasy of 3 Saints players scoring and assisting all 3 goals in the world cup final.........More importantly though, get well soon, Jay!

Just seen it on motd. Hope it's not acl, as someone who's had that playing footie. Would be 6 months out. Silence so far suggests it's bad methinks

Which would mean December before fully match fit. We definitely need to get a new striker or two, plus a GK.

Interesting following his brother on Twitter;

Seems his pain has reduced. Looking forward to further good news

Well.... Some people have been known to play again straight after tearing an ACL, as what happened with Gazza

Its such a bad injury as it doesnt have a blood supply and so cannot repair itself. Its normally damage to other parts of the knee that provides the 'pain' so without wanting to play devils advocate I think its worse news that he has no pain, especially if he has plenty of swelling.

I think I will have to put that theory on ignore and hope for the best.

Hoping for the best, just like Ramirez injury looked terrible, but he was back in 4 weeks. It's just that a knee shouldn't bend in that direction??

It was almost like a dislocation.

I'm not sure that is how it works, but the signs are definitely nt very good at all

They'll use the Nuffield in that case and then follow-up appointment at Solent. Although the students are away, that's not to say that the academic and other staff will be.

Nothing we don't already know. Swelling reduced as has the pain, scan today. Staff at SGP are very eager to be kept in the loop.

Sorry Monk, but who or what is SGP?

It is normal to wait for any knee swelling to go down

Hes probably had an initial MRI scan or something similar. Although an MRI scan is not necessarily needed especially as a lachman test would indicate straight away if it was the ACL

It could be any of the ligaments, Posterial, medial, lateral or anterior ligaments that are torn or sprained , none of us no what is wrong

Im letting the specialist determine what is wrong and I will wait to here the club annoucement

I hope the injury is not to bad given the way he landed and twisted

My Thoughts are with JRod and I hope he is back sooner rather than later
