Matthew Le God Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 (edited) £30m upgrade of the training ground... When finished... Plus the club is now extending the training ground to these fields... Those fields will include a new training dome and will end up like this... http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/GetDocumentContentExternal.aspx?documentId=622617&filename=Proposed+Site+Plan.pdf More planning applications keep going into the New Forest District council for further improvements, for example last month this was submitted... http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/GetDocumentContentExternal.aspx?documentId=815832&filename=AL-12-20-010+UNDER+PITCH+HEATING+ENCLOSURE+-+PLANS+-+ELEVATIONS-Rev+C331779620000.pdf.pdf Edited 3 April, 2014 by Matthew Le God
Tokyo-Saint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 So is the dome in the new fields what the extra £15m is about?
Bearsy Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 So is the dome in the new fields what the extra £15m is about? £8.2m of it was to put that extra window on the right hand side of the building Edit: tks for pics mlg v.interesting
Colinjb Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 So is the dome in the new fields what the extra £15m is about? Was the new ground already owned by the club?
stevegrant Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Was the new ground already owned by the club? From what I recall, the club doesn't own all of the land it currently uses, part of it is leased (long-term). Entirely possible that the same applies here.
Matthew Le God Posted 3 April, 2014 Author Posted 3 April, 2014 So is the dome in the new fields what the extra £15m is about? Part of it, the additional fields to the south which extend the size of the site cost money as does... - the new training dome - 3G pitches - groundman store - security hut - improvements to the academy buildings - significantly larger main pavilion building - extra floodlights etc etc All which weren't included in the original £15m plans. For example originally it was going to look like this... Which is significantly smaller in scope than what they are now building and is why the cost is now £30m+, because it is better than the original plans.
Saint Rees Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 I live just around the corner from it and go past pretty much every day. they have built a new entrance round the back which goes in to where that old white dome was, think its going to be the new main entrance and car park but not sure, at the moment its just used by diggers etc
Tokyo-Saint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Who forgot the security hut and groundsman's shed in the original plans? No trolls but will this be better than a top 5 training ground or about the same?
Bearsy Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 :lol::lol::lol: oh my days. Look mum, I'm giant!
buctootim Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Thats one mother of a perimeter hedge. Taller than the building and trees
Bearsy Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Thats one mother of a perimeter hedge. Taller than the building and trees Is that the thing where the residents is complain cos it's stopping their cabbages from growing, or whatever it was?
spyinthesky Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Apparently our friends down the road will be using the Marchwood blueprint for their new training complex at Hilsea However it might start off more modestly
Bucks Saint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Who forgot the security hut and groundsman's shed in the original plans? No trolls but will this be better than a top 5 training ground or about the same? Top 5 spots are closing fast: http://www.mcfc.co.uk/news/club-news/etihad-campus
Turkish Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 . Looks like a little boy playing with his Subuteo set.
Saint Charlie Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Will obviously be pretty good once its all done.
Toon Saint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 More planning applications keep going into the New Forest District council for further improvements, for example last month this was submitted... http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/GetDocumentContentExternal.aspx?documentId=815832&filename=AL-12-20-010+UNDER+PITCH+HEATING+ENCLOSURE+-+PLANS+-+ELEVATIONS-Rev+C331779620000.pdf.pdf Good to know that KL has signed off improved plans for the site, and she is not just finishing off designs planned while Cortese was at the helm. Hopefully indicative of her 'ambition' for the club. Do you know when the site is due to be completed MLG?
Matthew Le God Posted 3 April, 2014 Author Posted 3 April, 2014 Do you know when the site is due to be completed MLG? They are aiming for the first phase (with the main pavilion building) ready this summer for when players return for pre-season. The extension of the site into the farmers fields to the south including the new training dome and additional pitches will take longer.
buctootim Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Is that the thing where the residents is complain cos it's stopping their cabbages from growing, or whatever it was? Bit harsh. Marchwood is a small close community but would calling them kids really hurt you?
igsey Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Thanks for this MLG, good to see we're making progress!
VectisSaint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Surprised that for 30M we have only gone for 3G pitches, would have expected them to have rolled out 4G pitches at least, much quicker and better for long term evolution. Maybe EE's network doesn't extend to Marchwood.
Matthew Le God Posted 3 April, 2014 Author Posted 3 April, 2014 :lol::lol: oh my days. Look mum, I'm giant! Here's another room of giants from the past... Gold star on its way if you can name them all!
Ken Tone Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 So we're spending nearly as much on the training ground as we did in building St Mary's . Makes you think!
Charlie Wayman Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 What is the situation regarding visits to look over the new facilities or is it too top secret and out of bounds to mere peasants like STHs? Is it still possible to roll up and watch training these days or is that also taboo?
Black Sea Saint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 best thing about all this is the red and white striped shirts in all the mock ups. Get in!

The Cat Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 What is the situation regarding visits to look over the new facilities or is it too top secret and out of bounds to mere peasants like STHs? Is it still possible to roll up and watch training these days or is that also taboo? As far as I'm aware no one is allowed on site while the building work is ongoing. Access for U21 & U18 games is only for relatives of the players and a request must be made. Hopefully this will change when work is complete. Here, this is from the OS: "Due to extensive building works taking place at the training ground, U18 games taking place at Staplewood will do so behind closed doors. Family members or scouts wishing to attend games should make a written or verbal request to the Training Ground and, wherever possible, we will confirm your request with an invitation to attend the game. Please note that there will be no car parking facilities at the Training Ground" http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/fixtures-results/u18-fixtures/
sussexsaint Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 Guy with his hands on the table next to Marsden anyone? You mean Jason Dodd ??
Prince Jazzbo Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 Its changed a bit since Road Sea used to play there!
RedWillie Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 I'll go first. Front centre....w..ker C'mon, bit unfair...he did build it after all !
PaulSaint Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 Apparently our friends down the road will be using the Marchwood blueprint for their new training complex at Hilsea However it might start off more modestly Not as posh as ours but will be up within an hour:
CB Saint Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 From what I recall, the club doesn't own all of the land it currently uses, part of it is leased (long-term). Entirely possible that the same applies here. I believe it used to be owned by some trust, however I thought SFC had bought it in the last eighteen months because the lease was coming to an end.
