OK I know it's a little premature because we still have 6 games to go, but I thought it was worthy of discussion.

If we were debating this at the end of November then it would be a lot harder, as newcomers such as Wanyama and Lovren would have been serious contenders at that stage. Unfortunately Wanyama hasn't played a full 90 minutes since December, and Lovren has had a couple of injuries and has not been the same immense presence at the back that he was earlier in the season.

Never would have imagined finding myself saying this at the beginning of the season but Steven Davis is a serious contender for me. Always puts in an excellent shift and is crucial to our system. Will never be the most skillful player but always puts in maximum effort for the team and has never let us down.

Rodriguez has had an excellent season overall, and would be a serious contender if had shown a little more consistency and some better finishing, although he would almost certainly win the award for most improved player. Although he would face stiff competition from Callum Chambers.

Luke Shaw has gone on to prove what we already knew - that he is probably the next Gareth Bale. When he is hot he is unplayable, and the defensive aspect of his game has improved massively this year. Very serious contender.

But I think we all know who is going to win it don't we? Can only be the guy who plays on the left or the right and makes Messi look sh*te. He has done this season exactly what he needed to do - toughened up a bit, found an extra yard of pace, and cut out the needless diving from his game. He has really grown into the captain's role and is fully deserving of the international recognition he has received. He must start in the WC for me. If he doesn't then Roy Hodgson is simply an idiot.

Take a bow Adam Lallana.

In season's gone by virtually anyone in this team could have won player of the year but yes I think Lallana should get it.

Special mentions to Shaw, Davis, Cork and Schneiderlin - throughout the whole season our midfield unit has been immense (and would have been more so if big Vic had been available).

If Ossie had worked out (i.e. 20 goals) we'd be top 6 right now IMO.

Lallana, with honorable mention to J-Rod. Unsung hero - Steven Davis. Surprise package: Jose Fonte. Disappointment: not sure there's really been any.

Osvaldo and Ramirez have to go down as disappointments. Expected Hooiveld to improve as well

There's no question that Lallana is player of the season.

1. Lallana

2. Rodriguez

3. Shaw

S.Davis, Fonte and Lovren would in other years have made the top 3.

Agree with this. Cork would also have been in the mix for top 3 had Wanyama not walked into the starting eleven due to his price tag.

I voted for Jay Rodriguez. Why, I hear you ask, when Adam Lallana has had the season of his career? It's simple really: I aimed for Lallana and missed because I wasn't paying attention.

Seems a little petty to single any one out. There are half-a-dozen players who have excelled pretty consistently this season.

Unfortunately, the award is called "Player Of The Season" not "Best Half Dozen Of The Season"

1. Lallana

2. JRod

3. Morgan

4. Shaw

5. Lovren

Lovren would probably have it on his pre-injury form but the competition is so high this season. Infact he would have won it last year playing like this.

I don't think I can take one more bloody post singing Davis' praises as an unsung hero. He gets praised every bloody week, he has had loads of threads, how can he possibly be called unsung?

I reckon he has had more praise this season than Morgan, JWP or Wanyama, he's not ****ing unsung.

And yet every week people drop him from their preferred starting line up.

Lallana will win and rightly so. Lots of guys have done well but not been as consistently unplayable.

2nd. Steven Davis

3rd. Rodriguez

Clearly Adam - lots of players have great seasons but Adam has excelled really don't even need a poll this season. Special mention to Jack Cork for stepping up when called on after not being able to get close to the team early season.

Adam Lallana has been consistently outstanding this year and will thoroughly deserve the award, should he win, but there are a number of other worthy candidates who could easily have won it in another year.

I'd like to give them a team of the decade award but next year could be even better!

Lallana , I remember being at west brom (dressed as banana man) when he came on and scored his first senior goal he had something special

Lots of our players have excelled this season, but the most excellent has been...

La La La, La Lallana

La La La, La Lallana

La La La, La Lallana

La La La, La Lallana

One Lallana, two Lallana, three Lallana, four

Four Lallanas make a bunch and so do many more.

Lallana, by quite a bit, and it shows on the poll. He makes our team tick, is the most creative, and is the one person we cannot afford to lose in the summer whatever happens. Left backs can be replaced. Strikers can be replaced. To bring what Adam does to our team would be nigh on impossible to replace.

Those in the running for POTS aside from him would be Lovren, JRod and Shaw. It's still no contest.

Most improved goes to JRod and Chambers in a tie, with Fonte missing out.

Unsung hero is between Davis and Cork.

Young player of the season is decided by an arm wrestle between Shaw and Chambers. JWP wedgies them both and steals it.
