What is an 'allrounder'? This isn't cricket.

Not quite an attacking midfielder (Lallana), not quite a defensive one (Wanyama) - but an all rounder (good at both defending and attacking, without being excellent at either)

HTH.

Thought Davis was bl**dy awesome today. Covered every blade' date=' won the ball and showed tremendous skill on numerous occasions. Great player.[/quote']

totally agree... Davis has been excellent all season, and is a cracking example of a team player... Last one we had like that in my opinion (you is simply better because of the teams he plays in playing to his strengths ) was Marsden.

Fantatsic attitude, commitment and a fair amount of skill that is is often overlooked. Top performance from a true pro. Love it ;-)

If you look at his career stats, nothing would suggest he's an attacking midfielder, 4 goals in 60 games for us, 17 in a 152 for Rangers (decent team in a poor league)

This season, he has contributed 2 goals and 6 assists.

If he is employed as an attacking midfielder, he's certainly not contributing as much as he should.

I see him as bit more of an all rounder, he's not as attacking as Lallana, but then he's not as defensive as Morgan. I guess that's my problem with him, he's too "average" in every department, without being great.

I that role, I would have someone with a bit of flair, but also a bit of an engine. As we don't have anyone like that (with a fully fit squad) I would rather play Cork there than Davis.

We do - he's called Steven Davis

He was the best player on the pitch vs Man City (home) and has been the 2nd best player on the pitch for virtually every match since.

Any other season he would be my player of the season, but Adam Lallana just pipped him to it (for me).

We've had so many. Cork, Adam, Davis, Lovren, Shaw, Chambers......this is a 9/10 season fro me.

Once again..Steve Davis put in a shift and a half.

Together with Jack Cork and Victor Wanyama.......awesome trio that took hold of the game and gave little chance to Everton.

Soooo glad Wanyama is back.

My MOM went to Nat Clyne.

But the whole of Saints side ...Well done...excellent performance.:):):)

If you watch him live the amount of work he does, pressing, chasing, covering he must do well over 10km a game and allows the others to play. Always in space. Another like Cork that if his end product and goal tally was better would be high class player but in our system I suspect he's one of the first on MPs team sheet

Now, I'm not one to drag up old threads but something occurred over the weekend.....

We are currently in the process of having our team ripped apart by circling vultures, yet there has not been 1 bid (or even rumour for that matter) for Steve Davis. Reading some of the comments on here, you would have though he would be one of the first to be snapped up.

Hence "underrated". He's been superb.

you've jinxed it now! fully expect bids incoming within next 48hrs :) joking aside, did i read somewhere that the current exodus of players are all managed by the same agent? Could explain why it is the same names being linked & none of the others are?

Steven Davis gets my vote for team captain.....50 or more (?) caps and captain for N.I.

Forget their FIFA rating, he has more international experience than any other outfielder we have...very dependable..

Sure he was captain at Rangers before leaving. Could be wrong though.

He was a bit more than that it seems, as he was basically attending boardroom meetings with administrators every day.

I think he's got the best tactical awareness of our whole squad. The one-two with Clyne for our 2nd goal at Fulham shows what he's all about. Simple, fast, super sensible, reliable.

If our midfielders weren't under judicial order not to shoot at goal last season I think he would've got a couple more!

One thin I noticed about his passing, is that it can also be positively unpredictable. I remember a fair few times in games where he was on the ball, and picked out a passing option that got a few Uhhs from the crowd. He comes across as a bit of a brainbox.

Cortese certainly encouraged a lot of the younger players to signup with the same agency, don't know if that was the case for existing players or signings we brought in - I suspect that would be a little more acrimonious.
