Pochettino likens Lallana to Iniesta, Xavi or Fabregas

Erm, not sure about that one. The passing and awareness in that Barcelona team is almost incomprehensible.

Lallana's about as good with his feet as anyone in this league though.

Most of that is due to the coaching that goes on there, the basis of that team have played together since day dot and the tactics have more or less never really changed much from youth level up.

Dont get me wrong they are incredible players but the awareness bit cones from being so used to each other and the way they play.

The Lallana comparisons are extreme as he isnt at their level IMO however his first touch and technique is incredible

It's not like the Barca team are the only ones who are the products of good coaching. The same applies to Lallana, but he's just not on that level. What's exciting is that the next raft of academy players are coming up in exactly that way, playing together in the same system since childhood.

Lallana, Barkley, Wilshere, all need to be in there and focusing on keeping the ball. Hope Roy or whoever is in charge actually makes the most of it. Or will Rooney demand being given the ball quickly every time?

I think Hodgson is trying to use Saints as a Blueprint to adjust the way England play from the hoof up the field from the goalie to better control, he has watched us no end of times recently v Norwich and Spurs, then on Saturday Ray Lewington was at the game they cant be there just convince themselves that our 4 Lions are the boys for the job.

All part of cunning mind games.

Every "big" club in the PL will be trying to sign AL & Luke in the summer.

The Club use Gareth Bale as the idea and tell them to forget about the 30mil deal this summer, stay, continue to improve, play for England and then bugger off to Barca or Real the following year for 60/80 mil each.............

Adam has massive potential to improve, even now. I really don't think he'd be out of place at a club like Barca or Real as he has the kind of ball control those teams revel in. He's proven he can reach another level playing for England and looking like one of the better players. I hope we can hold onto him, he'd be a massive loss in the summer and irreplaceable.

Funny how nobody was saying he'd fit in at Real Madrid after the Spurs defeat...or at any other point. He had a great game on Saturday but he didn't suddenly become a better player. The media praise just moved up a gear.

He's absolutely fantastic and has the potential to reach the very top but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Lallana has embraced and made every step up that is ever put before him.

In league 1 he was simply class for that level.

He went up another gear in championship, and he has now ascended to the top of the pile in the premier league.

Not only that but he hasn't yet played a full game for England in 3 attempts and is already being talked about as a "must start"...

If he carries on this season with no injuries he will shine in Brazil... compared to the England teams of recent years full of lumbering journeymen and speeding headless chickens he will stand out as the skillful maestro.

He has always had the ability, and it has been a case of developing the confidence and knowledge that he can do it at each new level...

If he goes to Brazil (and stays injury free) he will reach a new level with the assurance and confidence that comes with it... imagine that next season.... because he has been good this year... After this summer their is every chance he may actually be world class.

Step 1 - Imagine

Step 2 - Salivate

Step 3 - Watch it happen

Step 4 - :smug:

That was basically what I was saying, Barca is an example of highly skilled players being coached in an effective system playing basically with the same players, formation and tactics from formative years and onwards

I wasnt playing down Lallanas ability at all

You need to look closer because I said it long before that, didn't change my mind on one game and stick by it now. He's been excellent all season. Why on earth would anyone change their mind based on the spurs game? a) because it's a single game and b) because he was very good and scored!

There's no reason to change your mind...but it's what football fans do. If these financial results had been released last Monday instead of this, for example the response would have been very different. It was doom and gloom after Spurs, sunshine out of arses now besides the usual trolls.
