berkshiresaint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Even though we smashed the toon today & played some great football they still only put us on as the penultimate game. Thank god for SS match choice. I bet MOTD won't even show Gaston's awesome pass
Olallana Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Sry to say it, but if people dont understand why our game is 6th in the order today then....*wont say more*
DuncanRG Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 The little Gaston comment makes me think you're joking...
K,Billy's supersound Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 It was a mid table game of no importance. The race for title and relegation issues deserve more air time. Our game next week will be shown higher up the running order i would think especially after we produce the same again.
OldNick Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 And we complained about Schmichael lol that'll teach us
Viking Warrior Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 I was in the car listening to 5 live post match reports . Hardly a mention and even after the Norwich match commentary and every .pretty poor Celtic got mentioned well before us as well . So it's not just Motd but the entire BBC Even the cheats got more airplay than us
View From The Top Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 It was a midtable game. Why the f**K does anyone think it deserves to be one before the top/bottom if the table clashes. Some of you are just plain f**king weird.

pap Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 The bastards didn't show us at all for seven years either.

SuperMikey Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 It was a midtable game. Why the f**K does anyone think it deserves to be one before the top/bottom if the table clashes. Some of you are just plain f**king weird. Because it was a 4-0 win for a team involving several players who are looking to get a place on the plane to Brazil for the WC? I would rather see highlights on The Football League Show of a 4-0 win in a midtable game than a 0-0 or 1-0 from teams at the top or bottom of the table. I get your point about the actual importance of the game, but in terms of "highlights" it deserves to be higher up, for sure.

So it's not just Motd but the entire BBC Even the cheats got more airplay than us Sorry Viking, can't agree . Listened to 5live from 3 pm... And every time they went to SMS, during and after game, they were waxing lyrical about hoe beautiful we were playing... Especially the the England boys... Fact is that the game has no baring on the top or bottom..
nta786 Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Hardly surprised tbh :/ Though lovely to see that most people on MOTD's Facebook are supporting us and saying how we should be on first
supersonic Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 every week the same people cry that we're not on first or second on MOTD. We could draw 0-0 with Norwich and they'd still moan....
Suhari Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Because it was a 4-0 win for a team involving several players who are looking to get a place on the plane to Brazil for the WC? Leicestersaint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 MOTD has become a very poor programme - especially with that half-wit Savage wittering on about Carroll. It is all very poor.
igsey Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Because it was a 4-0 win for a team involving several players who are looking to get a place on the plane to Brazil for the WC? I get your point about the actual importance of the game, but in terms of "highlights" it deserves to be higher up, for sure. Did you see any of the other results for today? Sounds like it's been cracking, I'm looking forward to watching it. Ultimately MotD is a Premier League highlights show, so they're going to put the games that have the most impact on the Premier League at the front of the show. 8th vs 9th won't have much impact; every game before us apart from one has either title contenders or relegation candidates involved. Arguably our game should be before Man U vs Villa, but we all know of the BBC's obsession with Man U.
mcjwills Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 That's why we watch the football first on sky MOTD never put us high up the running order unless we lose.
waggy Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Sorry Viking' date=' can't agree . Listened to 5live from 3 pm... Wiggles31 Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Pathetic highlights! Showed 40% of our chances.
melmacian_saint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Speaking of MOTD, that Berahino moment for West Brom brought the Crouch v. Everton moment to my mind. Somehow I believe the season outcome will be similar for the guilty party.
Viking Warrior Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Franks cousin . It was between 5 and 6 I listened
The Majestic Channon Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Is this forum riddled with under cover skates or have we really so many bell ends as fans ? serious question
SNSUN Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Lucky Jay didn't jump for Lambert's goal, it'd have been given offside otherwise. Must've been a good shout from Rickie. Lallana. Wow. I wonder who'd be worth more in transfer fees on the market, Lallana or JRod?
Lord Duckhunter Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Can't believe we were on so late, can't believe the clowns don't understand the importance of the 8th 9th place struggle. FFS......
Professor Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 The name MOTD should have been updated years ago. It is a Premier League 'Highlights' programme, whereas at one time it just concentrated on one game and little else. These days, showing all the games, it must focus on matches where the outcome has maximum meaning. So, the crucial game for 8th place in the table, a genuine 6-pointer, should have been one of the first matches most viewers would be looking out for...
brmbrm Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Can't believe we were on so late, can't believe the clowns don't understand the importance of the 8th 9th place struggle. FFS...... Quite. El Classico it is not, but it is very very close. Things pivot on whose 8th and 9th, or 10th, or soemthing
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 I love MOTD. As a Saints fan it goes without saying that I would have put our game higher up the running order. However with my neutral 'hat' on a perfectly logical case can be made for all the editor's decisions. More important than any of that partisan nonsense, the banter between the boy Lineker, Hanson, and Alan Shearer was (yet again) last night quite superb. Surely you'd either need to possess a heart of stone, or indeed be the world's most fanatical Toon fan, not to have experienced one of those genuine 'laugh out loud' moments last night when Alan Hanson described JRods first goal yesterday as: "the worst goal ever conceded" and that Newcastle couldn't have made it any easier for us if they hadn't turned up at all. MOTD is not just another sports programme, it's a national institution like the Royal Family or Steven Fry.
The Majestic Channon Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 seriously who cares what order they show the games??
Ohio Saint Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Truly a failed thread! Our game was not important at all. It was just fun to watch as a saints fan is all.
doddisalegend Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 I remember the halcyon days of the football league show when we were always top billing for our league which probably had something to do with us being a big club at that level/pushing for promotion That MoTD don't realise that we are the biggest club in the PL and the race for 8th is a massive draw is frankly shocking................................................... ........................I thought they were pretty complimentary about us TBH
Whitey Grandad Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 I don't mind what position we're shown as long as we get a decent coverage. I always record the show and watch the recording after it's started. That way I can skip through the analysis.
Ziggy Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 I don't mind what position we're shown as long as we get a decent coverage. I always record the show and watch the recording after it's started. That way I can skip through the analysis. Me too. It doesn't matter what time we're on. Watch the other goals, fast forward through the tedious bull****, and then watch the Saints goals three or four times. No problem.
Professor Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Never been a Lineker fan with his scripted one-liners and his attempts at clowning on crisps adverts but he was a very good footballer in his day and as a Saints' fan I do admire the amount of praise he gives our club.
fez Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 If you want to see it again and don't want to wait for it to go up on iPlayer it's here: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/southampton-4-newcastle-0-motd/
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 While I understand this mid-table game has little bearing on the top and bottom battles, to be fair a 4-0 thrashing of one of the old institutions is an interesting issue in it's own right, but the fact that we completely bossed the game with some excellent quality football with many Brazil bound England players or hopefuls is probably even more important. It was noticeable that the last game got a game analysis, but ours didn't...was it too painful for Shearer to discuss?
Trader Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Still the best football programme on TV. I take it you don't have Sky then.
hasper57saint Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Even though we smashed the toon today & played some great football they still only put us on as the penultimate game. Thank god for SS match choice. I bet MOTD won't even show Gaston's awesome pass I suggest you record M O T D and then deletel the stuff before us and THEN Saints will be first up.Simples Eh?

david in sweden Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 It was a mid table game of no importance. The race for title and relegation issues deserve more air time. Our game next week will be shown higher up the running order i would think especially after we produce the same again. you can be fairly certain we won't be sixth on the list next weekend, most likely first - especially if we get points there.
paulwantsapint Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Who is the idiot on sky highlights who thinks that lallana 1)only does it for 20 min spells 2) & also thinks that him being most subbed player is to do with his lack of control of a match 1) everything positive is influenced by AL 2) anyone who works that hard deserves own ovation & short rest
CityRanger Posted 30 March, 2014 Posted 30 March, 2014 Ray Houghton. Was a bit of a cock in commentary yesterday.
