If we could play with 12 players then he'd definitely be in; our problem though is who do you drop? I think yesterday he should have been in for JWP with Davis taking a deeper role, but when Morgan's back in with Cork, I can't see who Ramirez replaces. Davis, Lallana, Rodriguez and Lambert are all too good and, I think more importantly, all have such a good understanding of each other to drop any of them.

Still, I'd like to see Ramirez getting a bit more game time as the season comes to an end.

Good team performance against a woeful Newcastle side. One downside was although we scored 4, our finishing, notwithstanding an excellent goalkeeping performance, was pretty poor. For me Mom was Chambers followed by JRod.

 

Chambers mom? That's ridiculous! Lambert and lallana were miles better! He was good but wasn't great first ten mins and had funny five mins second half.

What a week for the Haspers. Had lunch with Matt and Lawrie Mc on Tuesday, Mrs H birthday and excellent lunch on Thursday and then yesterday I saw one of the best performances from a Saints side in the 57 years I've been a supporter. My MOM was Steven Davis. What an outstanding performance from a very under rated player.

Makes me proud to be a Saint.

In fairness so does Lambert. Gaston while clearly having some talent doesn't seem to offer as much as other players in the squad I just can't see who you would drop, from our first 11, to start Gaston so he can supply one or two decent balls during a game. I'm guessing MP feels the same or Gaston would be getting far more starts.

Can anyone show me where all these people are who under rate Steven Davis? I seem to read the comment (or something like it) "Steven Davis was great so under rated" a dozen times after every match which kind of suggests saints fans really don't under rate him at all. I think we all realise that he is a massive part of our midfield don't we?

Under rated outside of Southampton, no one else knows his name so much has been the focus on the rest of our squad, shhhh let's keep it that way :nod:

MP gets asked questions by Solent about individual player performances in postmatch interviews all the time but rarely, if ever is Davis name brought up.

Normally the tatters on Solent have nothing but good things to say about Davis.

 

Don't doubt it but when was MP last asked about Davis by Blackmore or any of the other media who follow us closely whenever they single out performances? Rarely if ever.

Blimey this got binned from the Sticky box quickly this week, the misery of the Spuds one sat staring us in the face until Thursday at least last week!!............................. do we have a Mod partial to a bit of fish on here smarting at our excellent performance and result on Saturday !!??!!! :? :D
