channonball Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 What % do you think season ticket costs will rise?
Golden Balls Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Don't see any reason for it to rise above inflation. If at all. We hardly sell out and price is a big reason for that. People will probably also hold back to see if we sell our bet players before buying a ST.
Chez Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 The failure to sell out every week suggests prices are too high, but no chance of them being cut. I can't see why they can't stay the same.
Wes Tender Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 I'm hopeful that the new board will take a different approach to ticket sales to that taken by Cortese. If they price the corporate boxes correctly, they will take significant revenue by having them full and then they could perhaps hold prices on the STs to try and sell more more of them too. But to my mind, the best approach to ticket sales will apply to the cup matches, where lower prices for minor teams and attractive prices to bring the kids would be a good policy

Even though attendances have fallen this season, we'll still hit over 90% sold out paying premium prices. There's definitely an argument to be made that that's better than 95% and above sold out but at significant discounts. The corporate boxes, though, I agree. They've been overpriced and outdated for too long and need a rethink and price drop. You also make a good point on cups, I can still remember playing Millwall at home 2 or 3 years ago and getting about 7,000 fans at St Mary's.

It makes sense for maximising revenue now - but I'd like to see the club do more to attract younger fans - like the Bundesliga. Extend concessions to under 25s and limit the number of season tickets. Saints and most PL clubs have a really aging fan base. Its going to seriously bite us in the arse in a few years time unless something is done now. Edited 29 March, 2014 by buctootim
melmacian_saint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 This time last year we were selling out every week, including not so good games. Anyone know the official ST figure, and is it higher than last year?

I agree somewhat, but it's a difficult trade off when you have a stadium that's just about the right size for right now. I do favour Wes' idea of cheaper inducments for cup games, which would make a small start. It's not first team related, but I also think the proposed new reserves league could make a difference in attracting young fans by having games at more accessible times and in the media spotlight a little more.

Anyone know the official ST figure, and is it higher than last year? Were we though? I'm not so sure. Don't be surprised to see a price freeze this season. Good PR for the "new" regime. Even that might still be too much for me this year though...

Inducements for cup games would work, but what we really want is more people getting the regular habit of coming to nearly every game. Maybe a bigger price differential between the prime seats and those in the back rows of the corners - keeping revenue the same but making cheaper tickets available. Also - and I hate to say it because I think its naff - maybe some kind of loyalty points scheme ala Tescos or Costa coffee buy five tickets and get one free would reward regular attendance of those who dont have the wherewithal to buy a season ticket.

And cheaper right down the front as well.

um pahars Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Anecdotal, but I'm sure more of my mates went to Saints matches when we were at school, compared to the kids I now teach. Would be interested to know how the make up of our fans now stands compared to previous times in our history. I know a few years back they were worried that the profile was ageing, so would be interested to see if recent years has made a difference (one way or the other). it may be nostalgia, poor memory or rose tinted glasses, but it would also be interesting to know how the price of tickets stack up against average earnings (or whatever an equivalent measurement would be), as they feel relatively more expensive nowadays. I'm sure our first family centre tickets back in the late 70s were peanuts.
View From The Top Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Saints have got it very wrong for anyone aged over 11 and under 18. My nippers season ticket, if we had renewed, was 4 times as much as his mates who are ST holder at WBA and Stoke.

Toadhall Saint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 We need to attract younger fans - they are the life blood of the club. So would be mental to price them out - especially the 11 - say 18 year olds. The youngers and the olders are catered for.
Saints foreva Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 I don't see any reason why season ticket prices should increase, but they probably will anyway as season tickets for Premier League clubs always seem to increase.
Chez Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 Need to keep the fans we have and another rise might tip a few over the edge. We are getting to the £700 figure for wing tickets and that is a lot.
teenagegsaint Posted 29 March, 2014 Posted 29 March, 2014 I'm 16 and it's £340 for me in the kingsland north
