Weston Saint Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 There has been plenty of talk about players going to keep us afloat financially so here is a snap shot of a few on the rumour list. Rasiak signed May 2006 – 4 year deal Davis signed July 2006 – 3 year deal Wright Phillips signed July 2006 – 3 year deal Saganoski signs June 2007 – 3 year deal Surman signed July 2007 – 4 year deal Euell signed August 2007 – 2 year deal John signed August 2007 – 2 year deal Thomas signed August 2007- 3 year deal Dyer signs July 2008 – 3 year deal Lallana signs August 2008 – 3 year deal
Colinjb Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 In other words. Out of contract this summer: Davis Euell John Wright Phillips Then the following summer: Saganowski Rasiak Thomas Thats would indicate that Rasiak and Saga are the only players of the traditional big earners who could command any serious find of fee.

I've got to say I feel that Kelvin Davis is the type of person and player who would likely take a pay cut to stay here.
fanimal Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 When 6 of them are not even playing for the team at present!
Chez Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 so we have to just hang on for two years and then all promotion sized wage earners will be off the books and everyone else will be on wages much more in line with income allowing us to move forward without increasing the debt.
Oz Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 so we have to just hang on for two years and then all promotion sized wage earners will be off the books and everyone else will be on wages much more in line with income allowing us to move forward without increasing the debt. hang on for two years! What planet you on?

John and Euell must be available (right now) on a free. If John comes back along with Saga and we can't offload them then I would guess that will force the sale of Surman and lallana. John's wages will be maybe £300,000 alone till the end of May. Saga's wages will have to be paid right through the summer as well so that could be another £300,000 or so. These are serious sums when crowds are as low as they are.
Chez Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 hang on for two years! What planet you on? I mean hang on to our CCC place. Does that help you understand?
PokingFun Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 hang on for two years! What planet you on? He's on a realistic one assuming no new investment becomes available in those two years. Its where Saints are at right now!!

It was reported in the Star today that Bristol City are lining up a cut price £500k bid for the permanent transfer of Stern John. Now I know it's only the Star but if we got that amount of money plus the savings on his wages then that should go a long way to keeping Surman and Lallana.
Thedelldays Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 so...not only did burley give away the likes of oakley, blackstock, fuller etc....we will be lucky to get any sort of fee for and of the £7m+ worth of players he got in.. jesus christ...
teamsaint Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 so we have to just hang on for two years and then all promotion sized wage earners will be off the books and everyone else will be on wages much more in line with income allowing us to move forward without increasing the debt. Indeed. However, I suspect that part of the plan is budgeting for life in L1. Rupes has no doubt calculated that its better to survive in L1 than go into admin in the CCC, hence the desire to play a very young (Cheap on wages ) team. Survival this season might be a bonus. The real game, as this thread suggests, is slashing costs. Incidentally, I should think rupes would kill for £500k for SJ.

So did the £7m+ spent oversee the £20m+ players we lost as worth?
Thedelldays Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 So did the £7m+ spent oversee the £20m+ players we lost as worth? who cares...burley was such a great manager..let players go for free and the ones he did SPEND on will probably go for free too...

Johnson has 3 window targets apparently. I like SJ but a £500k + wages gone and I'd be happy with that.
ozzmeister Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 Why do people think Dyer is so well paid, surely he is not in the Saha/John/Rasiak platform. He has come through the ranks so would expect him to be on similar to Surman.

If he was on 5k the board wouldn't be loaning him out. Rasiak is on about 15-20k.
