Rickie made Mediawatch on F365.

"Laugh Out Loud

Rickie Lambert has been talking at length about Southampton's top four hopes (yes, really), but one of his quotes really made us giggle:

"We (Southampton) aimed for fourth this season and people laughed at us but they didn't laugh when we were second. They waited until we dropped a bit."

So essentially Lambert's saying that people laughed at Southampton, then briefly stopped, but resumed once they realised they were right to laugh.

It actually gets worse than that for Lambert, because Southampton haven't been second at any point this season. So people have just been laughing non-stop."

This is the problem with our clubs verbal diarrhea on CL / Top 4

Either put up (£££) & go for it or shut up

I dont hear Everton banging on about CL - and they are much closer than us

So list all the Everton sites that you "contribute" to and who you got your ticket for the away section from. Got yourself a new scarf yet?

I'd rather our players ,manager & CEO were talking of reaching the CL than aiming for mid table mediocrity.Aim high even if we don't achieve it still set your sights for the top.

Even if the person/fans they are telling it to does not believe a single word out their traps? Its plainly overeaching and they must be thinking why on Earth are they saying such crap. The proof will be in the pudding when we have a chance to buy top quality players this summer to advance our aims towards the Champions League......

Why aren't the talking about winning the league, then? We should be aiming that high, right?

You worry that our talismanic striker gets quoted on some nonentity board because........enlighten me?

Not everyone gets off on the negatives ....Everton have 'banged on' about getting in to the CL season after season whenever they have an outside chance (but that doesn't suit your point of this minute..although it might given a few more seconds...hang in), why shouldn't they...who's fragile and precious enough to let it affect their support of their club ffs? Do you not dare show your face outside because you think people may be talking about it.

I do know you're a WUM, I do know that you have multiple deluded forum personalities but sometimes I join in with calling you a 'rhymes with punt' because it can't be repeated often enough...now - off you go to therapy and act out the roleplay of doubling people's money!

Exactly that. When I was running I used to aim to be an Olympic runner. I never made it of course but the aspiration definitely lifted me higher than I would have been if I just aimed to beat the loppo Alton kid whose feet pointed out when he ran.

Not sure that's what postmen do for a living tbh.....

Talking about the top four and failing to get it doesn't hurt anyone but the dangerously self-conscious.

Good point. I am a pessimist by nature and even I don't mind the more optimistic having their say/fun. If people don't like it, then its very much their own problem.

Are you the one who suggest role play and a PMA in team briefs and comes away with as if you have learnt something?

Now they are as they are in a position to get it, not before, I would know as I live here, they have not all season and fair play to them for keeping their feet on the ground and not talking ****e.

You live in Liverpool?? Really?

How come we haven't been told this before?

Does Glasgow Toffee live with you?

Actually it was pretty much the first thing Martinez said when he got the job.

New Everton manager Roberto Martinez promised to guide the club to Champions League qualification, chairman Bill Kenwright has revealed.

Calm down dear, just because your club's ambition is to stay in the football league...

you should never knock those who dare to dream... or would you like to still be living in caves?

OMG BARRY + GLASGOW IS BEEN SO OWNED BY CHICKEN BANJO RIGHT THERE YO!

Classic thread!

I still get confused, saintsweb=fans message board, fan= support, like, biased towards, devoted, fanatical,*"marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion".*

But majority of threads contain Barry, turkey, Glasgow, cb etc criticising posters for being positive, biased, devoted, optimistic etc guess will never understand their need to be a virtual character. They have been underperforming recently! :)

Everton, 6th last year, with 6th highest wage bill, sit in 5th. On target to beat last season by 1 place and 9 points have done great.

Saints, 14th last season will improve by 5,6, or 7 places with one of lowest wage bills. On target to increase points by 14 not a great season???

No one is laughing at MP, apart from muppets on here who would prefer Rednapp or Allardyce (Alps and turkey big fans). He is highly thought of and his comments were seen a refreshingly ambitious not negatively accepting things have to stay the same.

There seems to be an inferiority complex looking in awe at 'big' clubs. Let yourself go and enjoy, be excited, be optimistic..... Its what fans do!

I refer to the fans Beersy.

Such butt-hurt :( I ain't done the research cos that's chicken banjo department but their dumb forums will be just the same as our dumb forums when it comes to chatting bout Champions League, with 2% saying we might make it this year, 11.6% saying we might make it someday, 64.9% saying never gonna happen and 58.35% just quietly touching themselves + saying nothing.

Edit: math ain't my strong suit, but u know what I mean :)

Why not lets build to get there, with investment and the academy, significant investment will be required to reach our goals and we are prepared to do so.

This has been a bad couple of weeks for a couple of posters.

Unfortunately, Jeff, they are like the shi tiest tabloids - who brass neck it - spout so much sheidt yet blatantly deny or ignore the next day... Yet like staring at a car crash, we return and get sucked in... Well at least we know what they are so it's a start. Trouble with these web forums is that if you want to actively participate, the trolls go with the territory...

I don't want to be a drama queen but this thread has been the final GS straw for me. Dear GS, you are the sort of head in the sand pessimist that would have laughed at Pythagorus claiming the earth was round. It might make you feel special now, but your lack of foresight is deeply depressing. Football is all about hope - and fair competition is slowly worming it's way into the game. I don't want to hear your tawdry views anymore, so along with the negative void that is Sanchez, you are also on ignore - and I can now enjoy the views of fellow Saints supporters (positive and negative) on this forum without ridiculous WUMing! Hallelujah!

Oh how I wish that were true, but when others keep quoting GS it's pointless having an ignore filter. Mind you, it was quite a giggle seeing GS and Barry being used as a b1tches in this thread.

My old gran used to say that you shouldn't set your ambitions too high, so you wont get disappointed. This is the attitude we need at the club. My Gran should be CEO, except she's dead. Wouldn't find talk of Champions League from her, it would be 16th and a nice cup of tea.

You have to say that (typically illiterate) statement covers your,Glasgow's and the various other alter egos postings in a nutshell...Alpine doesn't count because he does (deep down) support Saints and he is clinically depressive!
