Some may not remember him but he was I believe our first £1M pound player. He is now at Pompey and has had strong links with them over the years. Sad to read that he has been suffering from cancer and it was a shame it never worked out with us as he was a decent player. I seem to remember in one of the Saints books I read a quote saying it would be a long time before a manager was trusted with £1M again after how he worked out!! I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say I wish him well.

If I remember rightly we had to pay a chunk of money if he played 30 games for us and for that reason when he got to 29 games they stopped playing him. I also think that Chris Nichol signed him but he ended up with Branfoot. I may be wrong of course

He was also played out of position on the left when his natural position was as a central attacking midfielder. Where we had a certain Le Tiss already.... Good player but an odd signing when we really needed a centre back.

Very good footballer who we played out of position.
