Leicestersaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 What on earth went wrong in the second half? Poor, poor, poor.
S-Clarke Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Load of turd. At least we won't be losing any players based on that 2nd half, one of the worst 45 mins of our season by far performance wise. Just out-muscled, out thought/fought and out played. A pretty average spurs team, it has to be said, but it was gifted to them in that 45. 9th is probably our max this year, can't see us finishing any higher. Still a very good season, but will be left with the overwhelming feeling that we should have done so much better.
JoeShmoe Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 You've started 3 separate threads in two minutes since that goal went in
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Poor defensive display once again from Saints - Lovren and Clyne particularly. Spurs stepped up and closed us down really well in the 2nd half - didn't let us play our passing game - we didn't really have a plan B. Shame. Move on.
alpine_saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 What on earth went wrong in the second half? Poor, poor, poor. We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up.
Wrensup Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 You've started 3 separate threads in two minutes since that goal went in Multiple tabs the loser.
beatlesaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 As bad in the second half as were we good in the first half. Really weird collapse.
Wrensup Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. Yeap! sack them all eh!
obelisk Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Handed that to Spurs. Could moan that we should've had a couple of free kicks in the lead up to their first two goals but the 3 points were just handed to them on a plate.
Saint Charlie Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Can't let a team back in it like that at home. Lovren was awful. First goal he tried to win a free kick that wasnt and then did it again. Pretty sure he also got done out wide last week. Shame Jay Rod had that knock because would have been better to take off a tiring Lambert.
corky morris Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren's worst performance of the season. He got our muscled twice prior to goals - shocking. Fonte's header for 3rd is poor too. Clyne messes up for first even after Lovren's shocker. Rickie terrible 2nd half. Chambers poor too. Could see it coming, typical bloody Saints!!! How Rose didnt get booked for either of the challenges on Davis or Chambers I dont know??!!
Saints Fan Dan Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Something's wrong when you know we weren't going to win when Spurs got their first. A poor side managed by an imposter of a manager and we lost to them. Also, what does James Ward Prowse actually do?
JoeShmoe Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 JWP needs to go on loan next year, he was far too lightweight in the middle and Erikksen and Chadli just ran the show. 2 defensive howlers cost us that game and the players head went down
Katalinic Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. Utter ******** - we have a right back and a centre back that ****ed up. 4 of the goals conceded in the last two games were from individual errors - not a lot MP can do about that.
B Rabbit Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've p155ed away a dominant leading position. we can't seem to close out games....
Wrensup Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren's worst performance of the season. He got our muscled twice prior to goals - shocking. Fonte's header for 3rd is poor too. Clyne messes up for first even after Lovren's shocker. Everyone terrible 2nd half. Chambers poor too. Could see it coming, typical bloody Saints!!! How Rose didnt get booked for either of the challenges on Davis or Chambers I dont know??!! Fixed it for you.
Le Timmier Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Another toothless capitulation from a dominant, winning position. Chucking away points is becoming as tedious as it is totally predictable.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren and clyne were poor, spurs tightened up second half and took up a higher defensive line and pressed more. Sucked up space and stopped us operating in their half. They started man marking Lambert aswell. Poor really, we bottled it
Saint_Tony Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Awful. We took Spurs too lightly after going 2-0 up. Draw a big blue line under that one and move on. Another forum meltdown to come so won't bother reading the rest of the thread.Nothing more to say
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Author Posted 23 March, 2014 Why would spurs want mopo? Tim has done him twice now
kpturner Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. Are you really that simple-minded, or are you just scraping the barrel for negatives?
Baird of the land Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Really can't believe we've lost to that utterly mediocre spurs team twice now. Dismal reffing as well because both first two sours goals were fouls imo. 3rd goal was utterly gutting as Saints had actually recovered from going into their shell after the 2nd and were playing ok.
alpine_saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've p155ed away a dominant leading position. we can't seem to close out games.... Yep, the defensive f**k ups are a symptom, not the cause.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Awful second half. Will reserve judgement on the subs until I know if Jay Rod is injured or not - if he isn't then it was a terrible sub to make. Pochettino leaves the team to sort itself out when they lose their composure as they should have enough about them to get back into the game but the hoofing started early in the second half and never stopped. Fonte and Lovren both had the shakes and Cork and JWP weren't strong enough to provide an effective shield for them on second balls. Lambert went to **** in the second half as well. Too many poor performances in that second period and we are not a team designed to withhold large periods of pressure when we sit back (both in structure and ability). Chalk it down as an unfortunate injury list in one part of the pitch and a learning experience for the team as to what they need to do to dig in and stay in a game and also to sort themselves out when the other team has momentum.
Stu Man Do Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. What exactly would you have done differently then Alps? We were disappointing but with what we had on the bench I'm not sure what else we could have changed. Think we probably have to put this down to "one of them days" and be grateful that its a game that essentially had nothing riding on it. Thought Lovren had a funny 10 mins and along with Clynes error that rocked us badly. JWP as a centre mid? Not sure on that one myself but how many people would have been happy with Reed playing the 90 mins?
DuncanRG Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 9th is probably our max this year, can't see us finishing any higher. Don't be silly. We're a point off 8th with Newcastle to play. Could even climb to 7th if things go...better than today. We were excellent in the first half, but as soon as Spurs got their tails up we were swamped in the middle of the park. Their quality started to show and we lost our heads. Missed Schneiderlin big time but I thought a draw would have been fair. If Sigurdsson's shot had gone wide there'd be far less whining on here tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
geoffnut Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Terrible second half performance against an average team. Our manager was totally clueless and the players lacked any real fighting spirit. What more can you say?
northam soul Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. No, we have a team that are not good enough to beat spurs away. The league position should tell you that and so should the performance. Ward Prowse is a nothing player and offers us zilch as a team thus we were completely overrun in midfield 2nd half. What was poch suppose to do bring on maya and hoiveld to turn things round.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We have a management that simply failed to anticipate that Spurs wouldnt just roll over and give up. Can't blame the management for two of their goals - Clyne makes a connection with the ball and it gets cleared and we're still 1-2 up. Sigs very good long range shot gets blocked and we go in with a 2-2 draw and 8th place. Why we don't try once in a blue moon to shoot from the perimeter of the pen area I don't know.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Author Posted 23 March, 2014 Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've p155ed away a dominant leading position. we can't seem to close out games.... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?49543-Points-dropped-from-winning-positions Think we are top on that stat!?
VectisSaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren cost us that, absolutelly **** performance by him 2nd half. Mistake for 1st and 2nd goals, then he was poor and affected our confidence. Not the first time this season that he has been poor.
hypochondriac Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Ah well. Season over anyway. Roll on next season
Wrensup Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 I think we missed Morgan and victor a lot that second half. We had no presence in midfield when we needed it.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 JWP needs to go on loan next year, he was far too lightweight in the middle and Erikksen and Chadli just ran the show. 2 defensive howlers cost us that game and the players head went down you are not wrong, totally pointless playing him as a DM. Trying to rest zen but we need to spend some serious money before next season, a lot of these academy lads just aren't good enough when we come under pressure.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Will we ever see such contrasting 45 mins again.. Stunned...
tobes8 Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We never have a plan b. Lovren looked like a poor excuse for a footballer today, all over the place and lost his head on numerous occasions.
Under Weststand Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 We went to pieces once Clyne slipped up, second half was simply woeful. We needed a decent start to the second half but Lovren had a brain fart and suddenly we are all at sea, we went pieces pure and simple. Looked like we would see it out for a draw, but how many times have we seen a stunner against us to win it this year. Gutted losing to that skate C**t.
Saints foreva Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 ****ing terrible result. Absolutely **** poor performance after we went 2 up. Going 2-0 up and not winning is very very poor.
Baird of the land Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 No, we have a team that are not good enough to beat spurs away. The league position should tell you that and so should the performance. Ward Prowse is a nothing player and offers us zilch as a team thus we were completely overrun in midfield 2nd half. What was poch suppose to do bring on maya and hoiveld to turn things round. That's ridicolous JWP actually played very well today.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 I think we missed Morgan and victor a lot that second half. We had no presence in midfield when we needed it. Of course we missed them, they are 2 of the best players in the PL.
CanadaSaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Schneiderlin is a player we just can't afford to lose because the midfield goes with him. Boruc really isn't good enough. All he had to do was come for the hoof instead of leaving his back-pedalling defence to try to clear it.
S-Clarke Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren cost us that, absolutelly **** performance by him 2nd half. Mistake for 1st and 2nd goals, then he was poor and affected our confidence. Not the first time this season that he has been poor. Not the first time, no, but one of a handful of poor moments in his saints career. Confused by the posts coming out regarding Lovren ''He's gifted loads of goals this season'' ''not the first time this season he's been poor''. Be thankful for what you've got. We're lucky to have someone like Lovren at this club, we may well end up with Jos and Maya as our partnership next year - who knows. Yes, he had a poor, poor game, but he's the runner up to POS for me. A true international CB.
Roger Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Lovren was the problem. Completely stupid to go to ground twice. Since Xmas he's made so many errors. Clyne made his first ever mistake.
patred44 Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 bottlers.. so just how many times have we bossed games, scored and then surrendered.. BOTTLERS

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Six points off seventh having played a game more. Give over, we are not going to finish seventh. We will finish eighth or ninth, as has been pretty obvious since about January.
