sammysaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Share Posted 23 March, 2014 Personally we have Sam as a good 3rd choice striker for now, i would rather us develop him and sign a pacey winger with a decent cross so we have Lallana and another providing for Jay Rod Sam and Lambo. Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Share Posted 23 March, 2014 Worth a punt but not good enough to pin our hopes on IMO goat If he is our only striking import in the summer Id be dissapointed personally
the saint in winchester Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 IN, but Vokes has to come too. Buy as a pair.
UpweySaint Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 I like the idea of giving a young english striker, particularly one with a saints connection, a chance and believe he would add plenty to our squad but can't see Burnley coming up and selling their star striker on the cheap. Imagine we'll see more for our money elsewhere.

KelvinsRightGlove Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 IN, but Vokes has to come too. Buy as a pair. Wasn't he always mentioned in HCDAJFU threads. Actually, was he a Saints fan as well? Could be wrong on that one.
gammon cheeks Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 Southampton boy. He'll bleed for us. Young and bang up for it. I'm in. You? Would improve under Mo PO that's for sure. Strong and pacey and scores goals .....reminds me of a certain other championship player we signed from Burnley a couple seasons back . Doubters said then that he wouldnt be good enough for the prem! Danny Ings would be a great shout in my opinion

Window Cleaner Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 Ings will be in the Prem next season with Burnley anyway, can't see why he'd want to change, not for a mid-table club anyway.

Bucks Saint Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 contract will be running out. burnley might want to cash in and ings might want to secure his financial future without tying it to burnley. Agreed. Saints not a step up from Burnley?! If he had massive ties to them, or was born and bred there, or was so white hot that he was just waiting for a top 4 club to come in for him, then maybe. Otherwise, I dont see any issue beyond the inevitable very high purchase price Burnley would quote, after insisting he is not for sale (and no one could blame them)

Bad Wolf Posted 24 March, 2014 Share Posted 24 March, 2014 I went to school with him. I don't want him anywhere near this club unless it's being carried off on a stretcher for the opposition

Goatboy Posted 25 March, 2014 Author Share Posted 25 March, 2014 We don't need him as we have one of the best and most exciting strikers about to be promoted from our academy. The big clubs are already aware of him. Not Sam Gallagher. Josh Sims? Ryan Seager?
doddisalegend Posted 25 March, 2014 Share Posted 25 March, 2014 Well I've only seen him once this season in the FA cup he certainly made Jos look like an old nag............ not sure how much a recommendation that is mind

Saint_Tony Posted 25 March, 2014 Share Posted 25 March, 2014 He looked good in the cup game, think he's the sort of player we could develop, similarly to J Rod. Burnley look like they're promoted, but 8-10 million should do the job, far less of a gamble than Osvaldo IMO

And, ultimately, that's the case, isn't it. I can't see Burnley letting them go and I can't see the players upping sticks back down here to play for our coca cola side (they wouldn't be first choice any time for the Prem side.)
