Eastleigh looking dead certs for promotion and TBH I wouldnt bet on Pompey not getting relegated, some of the family and from the football team are STH and they genuinely believe they are gone

I thought a few weeks ago there was no way they'd go down, however they are in big trouble, aside from Torquay who look cents to go down they have the worst form of the bottom six, only 10 points from 10 games, next up for the is league leaders Rochdale away so could well be level on points with Northampton this time next week and they still have to play them away.

Oh yes please, pretty please with bells on. A few years in the Conference and I might actually start to think that they have served their time.

Speaking of loaning players haven't we got any we could loan to Northampton to help them out. I reckon Guly would be pretty amazing in league two, Jos would firm up any league two defence, is Forte still on the books? could notch up a few goals. Maybe Sam Gallagher to........anything to help out a fellow Hampton town and get pompey relegated:p

I miss the derbies but to get them back would mean the 'muff moving back up the leagues. Wanting that to happen just seems plain wrong. Them playing Eastleigh in the Conference is a good substitute with the added bonus of them going out of the league.

An Eastleigh home game against pompey would have issues due to lack of segregation. Moving it to Sms would make it massive for them in terms of income too.

 

And a few quid extra for Plod. Or they might ruin it by banning away fans or impose the Bubble.

...but could you imagine the sheer, unmitigated hilarity of seeing the skates queuing online for tickets to watch Eastleigh at the silverlake??? If (please, please, please) that happens, I reckon the Concorde will need to fully implement their "members only" policy on that glorious day.

 

(And the Stoneham Arms will finally be glad they've shut. :( )

Portsmouth losing 3-0 to league leaders Rochdale; Northampton are beating Wimbledon 2-1. If it stays like this, Portsmouth and Northampton both have 42 points and -17 goal difference; Northampton are in the relegation zone purely because they've scored fewer goals than Portsmouth!

 

Suddenly losing 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur doesn't seem so bad :lol:

Actually their closest derby match next season could yet be Havant & Waterlooville..lol.. a few points from their games in hand should see them make the playoffs at least.

Not sure the bottom 2 will be good enough to pick up many points. Just 1 or 2 pompey wins could do it, maybe even just 1. Shame, that -10 they escaped really would have destroyed them.

 

and who are these pompey wins going to be against exactly ;) relax...

Why? If Ten Acres/Silverlake/Whatever its called next year, isn't up to it, then Eastleigh wont be allowed promotion. They don't switch grounds in FA Cup matches these days.

The board need to act now. Either by getting rid of Barker, or by coming out and explaining to us why they think they shouldn't. This is a big test of their mettle again.

 

If they just maintain their radio silence, I can see pockets of fans at Fratton starting to turn against the board at the next home game.

 

We were supposed to be the shining beacon of fan ownership. Not working out as we'd hoped, is it?

Worked for us. We had money behind us and infrastructure, but I think any club sliding down the leagues like that needs to look to the future rather than a desperate attempt to bounce back immediately. Give youngsters a chance and stick with a decent young manager who'll improve young players and get them playing good football.

 

PFC haven't done any of that, again.

 

Still, I think they're right this time about sacking the manager. 7 games left, 3 home games and a poor squad, but probably better than 3 or 4 others at least. A better atmosphere, decisive action and a vaguely reasonable appointment would probably get them a win or 2 and save them.

 

Lets hope not, eh? ;)

Yes they will. If they earn promotion, they'll get it. Especially if it's such a huge deal as going from non league to league. If Eastleigh get promoted this season, they will be playing in League Two next. SOMETHING will be done

Obviously most of us would prefer to still be struggling in the Championship with Lowe/Wilde/the Dutch masters etc. but relegation didn't work out too bad for us in the long run did it?

To be fair, Saints weren't really threatened with the Conference. Our lowest of the lows was League one, and as soon as we were there, we were on our way back up.

I go to a few games at Eastleigh each season and they get good crowds, 500. 800. 2400 for Havant and Skatesville. This season Eastleigh have picked up to regain early form and when they play well you would back them to stay top so its a real knife edge end of season run as Bromley are very good. Only 1 goes up auto and Eastleigh did a few years ago lead 4-0 in playoff away only to lose the advantage at home leg. I don't think they want to go through this again and I am confident top spot will be Eastleigh`s. As for Skates they only 2 things in their advantage are that both Northampton and Torquay have been dreadful and its only in last few games they have picked up points. Stakes play Northampton away and it could all hinge on this, lose this and they could well go down.

 

will be a massive game if both meet as loads Skates visit for the Eastleigh/HW game. Mind you half Eastleigh fans are Saints fans!

Hmm, Mum and Dad were from Eastleigh railway families, and I live a few railway stops to the east of Portsmouth: I'd have to go to Fratton, wouldn't I?

 

Hopefully no lobbed lumps of concrete like at the Alan Knight testimonial..
