Matthew Le God Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Pompey get the derby with a team in a SO postcode they always dreamed of...
Dalek2003 Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Getting closer, might go and give Northampton some support in upcoming matches.
Fan The Flames Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 I shall be at Fratton on the 3rd of May, praying to see Argyle win and get into the playoffs and relegate Pompey.
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Eastleigh looking dead certs for promotion and TBH I wouldnt bet on Pompey not getting relegated, some of the family and from the football team are STH and they genuinely believe they are gone
chocco boxo Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Probably be moved to AFC Tottons ground to accommodate the "bestest fans"
david in sweden Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 (edited) Could it happen next season! it would be even more ironic if the local derbies in the south were; Eastleigh, Salisbury, Aldershot....... and Pompey Edited 22 March, 2014 by david in sweden
david in sweden Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 How is this Saints related? you're joking right ?.....any time that Saints' fans can gloat over Pompey's downfall........ it's Saints-related:lol:
Turkish Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 I thought a few weeks ago there was no way they'd go down, however they are in big trouble, aside from Torquay who look cents to go down they have the worst form of the bottom six, only 10 points from 10 games, next up for the is league leaders Rochdale away so could well be level on points with Northampton this time next week and they still have to play them away.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 How is this Saints related? If you have to ask that question you are no Saints fan - smart arse
dickyhale Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 A nice trip to league leaders Rochdale on Tuesday. Then a {b}BIG six pointer{/b} on 21st April to Northampton could put them in the bottom two and maybe just maybe relegated out of the football league.............Oh yer it couldn't happen to a better crock of sh-te
Whitey Grandad Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 A nice trip to league leaders Rochdale on Tuesday. Then a {b}BIG six pointer{/b} on 21st April to Northampton could put them in the bottom two and maybe just maybe relegated out of the football league.............Oh yer it couldn't happen to a better crock of sh-te Oh yes please, pretty please with bells on. A few years in the Conference and I might actually start to think that they have served their time.
Huffton Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Probably be moved to AFC Tottons ground to accommodate the "bestest fans" **** off, its a nice new ground, we don't want it soiled by those smelly barstewards
paulwantsapint Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 If eastleigh asked they could have a record conference attendance at SMS
Goatboy Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 how many does Eastleighs ground hold ? not enough
Secret Site Agent Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 If eastleigh asked they could have a record conference attendance at SMS I hope they do. It's the least we could do......apart from loaning them some players.
doddisalegend Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Speaking of loaning players haven't we got any we could loan to Northampton to help them out. I reckon Guly would be pretty amazing in league two, Jos would firm up any league two defence, is Forte still on the books? could notch up a few goals. Maybe Sam Gallagher to........anything to help out a fellow Hampton town and get pompey relegated:p
Right sider Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 An Eastleigh home game against pompey would have issues due to lack of segregation. Moving it to Sms would make it massive for them in terms of income too.
Graffito Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 I miss the derbies but to get them back would mean the 'muff moving back up the leagues. Wanting that to happen just seems plain wrong. Them playing Eastleigh in the Conference is a good substitute with the added bonus of them going out of the league.
Graffito Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 An Eastleigh home game against pompey would have issues due to lack of segregation. Moving it to Sms would make it massive for them in terms of income too. And a few quid extra for Plod. Or they might ruin it by banning away fans or impose the Bubble.
scotty Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 If eastleigh asked they could have a record conference attendance at SMS ...but could you imagine the sheer, unmitigated hilarity of seeing the skates queuing online for tickets to watch Eastleigh at the silverlake??? If (please, please, please) that happens, I reckon the Concorde will need to fully implement their "members only" policy on that glorious day. (And the Stoneham Arms will finally be glad they've shut. )
igsey Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 Portsmouth losing 3-0 to league leaders Rochdale; Northampton are beating Wimbledon 2-1. If it stays like this, Portsmouth and Northampton both have 42 points and -17 goal difference; Northampton are in the relegation zone purely because they've scored fewer goals than Portsmouth! Suddenly losing 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur doesn't seem so bad
alpine_saint Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 And the Stoneham Arms will finally be glad they've shut. U WHAT ? Aw, no way. My local has gone ?
igsey Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 Balls. Last minute equaliser by Wimbledon means there's still a 2 point gap between them.
AussieDog Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 Actually their closest derby match next season could yet be Havant & Waterlooville..lol.. a few points from their games in hand should see them make the playoffs at least.
Whitey Grandad Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 U WHAT ? Aw, no way. My local has gone ? Takings plummeted when you stopped going
kwsaint Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 Not sure the bottom 2 will be good enough to pick up many points. Just 1 or 2 pompey wins could do it, maybe even just 1. Shame, that -10 they escaped really would have destroyed them. and who are these pompey wins going to be against exactly relax...
scotty Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 U WHAT ? Aw, no way. My local has gone ? I'm afraid its true, alps. I couldn't believe it either, boarded up with a few forlorn "save our stoneham" posters on it. The other local thats been there forever is the Woodman.......now a tesco express.
Right sider Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 Worst case scenario is that they sack Barker. Cannot see where they will get any points tbh.
Dazza82 Posted 25 March, 2014 Posted 25 March, 2014 They have to play Northampton away yet Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
WokingSaint Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 Plus some great games down here in Torquay v Woking, Eastleigh, Pompey etc.!
Lets B Avenue Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 If it happens, it will be moved to SMS. Why? If Ten Acres/Silverlake/Whatever its called next year, isn't up to it, then Eastleigh wont be allowed promotion. They don't switch grounds in FA Cup matches these days.
Saint86 Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 They're fans really are starting to get it however :- "How do you guarantee an immediate return? Can't think of any clubs that have managed it. Can we even afford the upkeep of FP if we're in the conference? What a complete and utter ******* mess we're in" Then again:- "Someone one here said we're 7 months ahead of schedule with our debt repayments, so presumably we'd be ok as long as it was an immediate return to div4?" And look, the bestest deserting the team! Can't be true surely? "The club has had my blood, sweat, tears and tens of thousands over the last 45 years, and I've always said I am Pompey 'till I die, and I am, BUT, dropping out of the league will be one humiliation too far and while the clubs in its current dire predicament, I will not invest any more time commuting from Somerset to watch the likes of Salisbury playing Pompey! We need a manager with half a clue and twenty players who will give 1000% or die trying! Until that delirious day, I will following us on the internet only. I really can't believe we've been allowed to sink this low!":lol:
Saint86 Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 The board need to act now. Either by getting rid of Barker, or by coming out and explaining to us why they think they shouldn't. This is a big test of their mettle again. If they just maintain their radio silence, I can see pockets of fans at Fratton starting to turn against the board at the next home game. We were supposed to be the shining beacon of fan ownership. Not working out as we'd hoped, is it?
Fan The Flames Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 'Pompey till non-league, I am Pompey till non-league.....' Still no one on there is coming out with that pearl of wisdom that used to spouted by some Saints fan - 'maybe its best that we do go down, we can consolidate and come back stronger'
scotty Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 Worked for us. We had money behind us and infrastructure, but I think any club sliding down the leagues like that needs to look to the future rather than a desperate attempt to bounce back immediately. Give youngsters a chance and stick with a decent young manager who'll improve young players and get them playing good football. PFC haven't done any of that, again. Still, I think they're right this time about sacking the manager. 7 games left, 3 home games and a poor squad, but probably better than 3 or 4 others at least. A better atmosphere, decisive action and a vaguely reasonable appointment would probably get them a win or 2 and save them. Lets hope not, eh?
Bad Wolf Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 Why? If Ten Acres/Silverlake/Whatever its called next year, isn't up to it, then Eastleigh wont be allowed promotion. They don't switch grounds in FA Cup matches these days. Yes they will. If they earn promotion, they'll get it. Especially if it's such a huge deal as going from non league to league. If Eastleigh get promoted this season, they will be playing in League Two next. SOMETHING will be done
Miltonaggro Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 Even if they drop out of the football league it will not be enough. Oblivion might cut it...
sandwichsaint Posted 26 March, 2014 Posted 26 March, 2014 'Pompey till non-league, I am Pompey till non-league.....' Still no one on there is coming out with that pearl of wisdom that used to spouted by some Saints fan - 'maybe its best that we do go down, we can consolidate and come back stronger' Obviously most of us would prefer to still be struggling in the Championship with Lowe/Wilde/the Dutch masters etc. but relegation didn't work out too bad for us in the long run did it?
bender Posted 27 March, 2014 Posted 27 March, 2014 'Pompey till non-league, I am Pompey till non-league.....' Still no one on there is coming out with that pearl of wisdom that used to spouted by some Saints fan - 'maybe its best that we do go down, we can consolidate and come back stronger' To be fair, Saints weren't really threatened with the Conference. Our lowest of the lows was League one, and as soon as we were there, we were on our way back up.
bender Posted 27 March, 2014 Posted 27 March, 2014 That last minute equaliser at SMS must seem a long time ago.
Saints Warrior Posted 27 March, 2014 Posted 27 March, 2014 I go to a few games at Eastleigh each season and they get good crowds, 500. 800. 2400 for Havant and Skatesville. This season Eastleigh have picked up to regain early form and when they play well you would back them to stay top so its a real knife edge end of season run as Bromley are very good. Only 1 goes up auto and Eastleigh did a few years ago lead 4-0 in playoff away only to lose the advantage at home leg. I don't think they want to go through this again and I am confident top spot will be Eastleigh`s. As for Skates they only 2 things in their advantage are that both Northampton and Torquay have been dreadful and its only in last few games they have picked up points. Stakes play Northampton away and it could all hinge on this, lose this and they could well go down. will be a massive game if both meet as loads Skates visit for the Eastleigh/HW game. Mind you half Eastleigh fans are Saints fans!
danner Posted 28 March, 2014 Posted 28 March, 2014 My god imagine away at fratton with Eastleigh what a laugh that would be
Cabrone Posted 28 March, 2014 Posted 28 March, 2014 Good grief, Pompey vs Eastleigh next season? Eastleigh to do the double? It's a world of pain if you're a Pompey fan.
suewhistle Posted 28 March, 2014 Posted 28 March, 2014 Hmm, Mum and Dad were from Eastleigh railway families, and I live a few railway stops to the east of Portsmouth: I'd have to go to Fratton, wouldn't I? Hopefully no lobbed lumps of concrete like at the Alan Knight testimonial..
