Rickie Lamberts replacement:

Monk

Here's one for ya, if a 27yo Rickie Lambert was playing for Bristol Rovers in league 1, would we be trying to sign him? I should say not! Makes you think ain't it.

Mickey Evans was 26 when he signed for Saints. He was an unqualified success so perhaps it's a good strategy. Winner of the 1997 "Best sideburns in football" award, too.

Edit: I take it back, he was only 24. I'm so upset with myself.

Yeah - he was gash. Apart from that Forest away game. That was a cracker.

Tore our under 18s apart for Forrest before signing for Chelsea.

Looks superb, mobile, target player but prefers ball to feet, drops deep but can take players on as well.

Be interesting to see if Chelsea actually look after this player.

Who is this please Mr Monk?

Patrick Bamford.

4 goals in 22 games, yes those goals were useful but he was a very limited player in a poor Saints side struggling against relegation.

Christ, you really don't get the concept of sarcasm, do you?

I'll make it easier next time for you and use smilies.

Have you considered one of the main ways we can tell sarcasm is through the tone of the delivery? Not something that you can always pick up on when the statement is only in text form.

Oh, so you have. Then why the previous comment?

I still think this is the summer a Premier League team finally take a punt on Jordan Rhodes...

Won't be us. He'll score goals, but offers very little elsewhere on the pitch and isn't particularly good at linking the play for others. Anyone we sign ideally needs to be able to do both.

This, which unfortunately is why it will be very difficult or very expensive. Still think Benteke or Bony might be our closest options, or matey from Berlin ?

Other than that if Utd let Welbeck go cheap ? Think he will look good in this team.

Never understood the clamour for Rhodes, he is essentially Billy Sharp thats maintained his form. Ings is another, good player but not what we are crying out for if we are looking to progress, if its just Ings coming in the summer Ill be dissapointed
