Transfers (rumours) thread

Most players signing for us won't give a sh it about brand Southampton.

Not being in Sunderland, and being quite close to London will give us an advantage from the get go.

Id imagine most look at two things, cash and oppurtunity. Right now Id imagine its a hard job to sell oppurtunity considering they have seen nothing but us selling our crown jewells. As for cash surely thats not an issue considering the wages Id expect those crown jewells to have earnt and the fees recieved

Its not plausible since part of it us supposedly trying to sign a third quality rightback....

The rest I can't judge but I'm not really counting on that being close to the truth.

Well in that case this isnt relevant considering he said he didnt know who we bid for but he thinks it may be janmaat

He very almost went to Lazio, who finished 9th in Serie A last year. The story suggests that the World Cup has raised his stock but at the moment only us and United have been mentioned. If anyone else is sniffing around, I haven't seen it reported.

Koeman aside, why would he want to come here, surely after starring for WC semi finalists he will want to play in Europe?

If it happens then great, but can't see it. He is too high profile and reasonably priced for better teams than us to ignore it.

Why wouldn't he?

Jeez the club can't win with you!

Constantly carping on about the lack of quality signings then when we are linked with a top player you still moan?

Get a life please!!!

Yes he does....but you have asked why De Vrijs would want to come here. Well why is Vlaar at Villa using your logic? Surely he is too good for them and should be playing for a Champions League side having been a World Cup semi finalist?

Vlaar is contacted to Villa. Not really sure what point your what-about-ery is trying to make.

De Vrijs is definitely moving on this summer, and will probably have a choice of clubs.

Think he means why did Vlaar go to Villa? Too be fair they're a bigger club than us

Contracted or not, makes no difference these days. What I think he is saying is that surely Vlaar could have a choice of clubs.

Nothings going to shut you up! but I wish you'd p1ss off and find another team to 'support', you are one of the biggest bores on here.[/QUOTE]

No he's not, I am Please don't take away my crown I've worked really hard for it Guv

( PS. Please remind me, when are Ramirez and Osvaldo due back ? Or don't they have Contractual obligations either ? )

Ah, that's better.

Ah, but there's the rub. We are LINKED to a lot of players, but we don't appear to be signing many, especially any of the ones that Sir Les had said had been earmarked by the Transfer Committee months ago

So, Saint Charlie is quite within his rights to "carp" on about a lack of "quality" signings

Mind you, on here, you don't have any rights if you dare to criticising what SFC does

Well he didn't go there directly after recieving plaudits from all over following a very successful world cup campaign. That's the point. Ron Vlaar, right now, is not actively deciding which club to join. De Vrijs, clearly, is. And he will have more than one option.

If someone comes in for a bid for him then Vlaar might have a choice to make. But he is not open to offers in quite the same way that De Vrijs is.

And, yes, Villa are bigger than us anyway.

If wages are a problem perhaps we should use the bulk of our cash in raising them across the board, with clauses about relegation of course. Might mean we could then get targets to sign. Gamble, sure, but cash burning hole in our pockets not working on fees.

How can wages be an issue? We have already got rid of two of our highest earners in Lallana and Lambert, with Lovren to follow and almost certainly Osvaldo.

Of those left we have so many kids in the squad that our current wage bill must be tiny compared with say a WH or Newcastle.

Because we're not offering enough in wages to attract the best players

Maybe an unwillingness to break the wage structure we have in place (i.e. not that there isn't capacity more that there is not the inclination to brak a structure we have in place)?

Wrens up

Haven't you realised that St Charlie and Dalek and co are the new voice of Southampton fans and the genuine in the know people

Who needs Sisa when we have Charlie , Richmond and co

They make Alpine look like a main member of the happy clappy group

It's amazing that when I read Alpine now I think he is quite reasonable. Shows how far downhill Charlie et al have gone. I'm especially embarrassed for Charlie as he used to be a half decent poster. Now he posts like Barry Sanchez used to, ill-informed sensationalist rubbish. Shame.

I'm unsure if his opinions are actually what he is thinking, or if he is trying to reinvent his forum persona as a hard hitting, I take no sh!t, n0bhead.

Which bit don't you agree with DPS, the fact we were going to sell lots of first team players (in progress) or the way we haven't started to cover any of last season's gaps? (also in progress)

English Premier League side Southampton have launched a bid to buy Celtic's Fraser Forster, but their £7.5m valuation of the goalkeeper is not enough for the Scottish champions who value him at £9m.

(Scottish Sun: print edition)

Seems odd to haggle over a million quid or so to me. Although it's not my money so why should I care. Pay the 9mil and let's go.

It's more the speaking as if everything is fact, blaming the board for every little thing even though there is not a lot they could have done to stop this exodus, and just the general impatience and inability to wait and see what happens. It smacks of immaturity. It's something I've dealt with before, and I think it's just a case of calming down and not letting it get to you in the way it has. You must know that you have come across incredibly badly over the last few months?
