Transfers (rumours) thread

Its a combination of factors... a big pay rise, playing for one of the biggest clubs in World football and Champions League football. Really not sure why you keep using it time after time as a stick to beat Saints with.

How come you used to be quite convinced we could challenge for champions league

If all it took was for a glory club to show interest to lose players, how on earth did you think we could do it?

Its not a stick to bash saints with you pleb, though Im not entirely sure you'll ever get it, regardless of anything that ever happens your outlook is cringingly optimistic towards the saints regardless if it changes your overall opinion.

It was only a few months ago you were banging the drum over and over again about Saints being the kings of europe and the 100k seater superdome

You seriously are the ying to alpines yang

Did I? I don't remember being "convinced", I think you are twisting my words somewhat out of context.

I won't be smug at all.

Looking on the bright side, maybe it is best to hold on to our money, take a chance. If we get relegated buy good quality young players in the Championship, possibly League 1 and bring through academy players, and in two or three seasons go up again. Have a couple of good premier years, sell again, take a chance on relegation and if necessary start the process again !

We could find our niche in the football world as well as being wealthy and avoiding debt.

Yawn. Bore off.

When you claim I said things like this it hard to have a discussion with you. Like with Batman you are twisting, taking out of context and exgarerating what I've previously said and seemingly convinced yourselves I actually said it like you now claim.

You used to try and convince us that it possible. Even posting pictures of a fantasy stadium and updates on the training ground

He's using it as a stick to beat you with! Beware smirkings bearing sticks!

Are you ok with selling every bro that wants to go, MLG? Where would you draw the line? Just the 3 first teamers like now or are you ok with a couple more?

Say what you like, read my post again, because that is the scenario I see us facing. So make the most of it and stop being a plastic.

Maybe we should have a Dalek thread where you can say the same things as last season (and the one before) over and over again. It will save spamming up every other thread with your yo-yo/17th/18th/relegation/Hoddle posts. Just an idea.

It's not 3 though, it's 5,6,7 the exact number remains to be seen.

MLG its pretty hypocritical saying to anyone else on this forum they are hard to have a discussion with, you are genuinely relentless.

As per the threads, everyone knows they happened

Posting pictures of commissioned stadium design and training ground updates is not in itself evidence of me being "convinced" we could challenge for the Champions League. You are jumping to the conclusions you want there to be from that. As I said before... twisting, taking out of context and exaggerating.

1 per window would be my policy. Shaw would have won the lucky ticket out of Southampton this summer, cos that seems the best deal & he is, after all, only a left back. Every other bro would have to suck it, if I was Chairman!

When players we want to keep get transfers to Stoke, Hull and Villa it's time to worry. Whilst they are moving to genuine top sides you can't grumble too much.

Exactly, but only if the club recruits their replacements well and invests the money back into the team.

I remember the comparisons between us, Everton, Spurs etc

We all know your stance last year when you were very pro saints getting into the top 4. When others times it down you were not

Now, all it needed was a glory club to click their fingers and it's over. Why wasn't that the case with you 12 months or so ago. Same with WES and his man on the moon tripe

I would do the quoting malarkey but it's fiddly on my phone, so in reference to the above:

+1 to what Barcelona said.

In reply to those saying he's got it wrong and KL has reversed her father's ambitions for the club, I can clearly remember reading an interview with ML & NC not long after promotion to the Championship, in which they were asked about long term ambitions. ML replied he wanted the club to establish itself in mid table premier league and be self sustainable there, NC said he wanted to get them to the Champions League, then they both laughed and ML said something along the lines of "well who knows?! But we can discuss that after we get to the premier league!".

So as I see it, KL is absolutely carrying on her father's work where he left off. NC was always going to leave once we reached the brink of Europe and he asked for enough funding to challenge the top four rather than rest on our laurels.

It doesn't mean we're going to be relegated. It just means we'll continue to hover around mid table for years, with an effective conveyor belt of good players coming through our academy, playing for a year or two and helping us maintain our position before leaving for a profit to larger clubs.

If anything has gone wrong, it's that the board weren't able or weren't sure whether to reign in NC when he effectively mislead potential signings about the clubs ambitions. Thing is, if he hadn't, we wouldn't have got them, so that's a tricky one...

In the meantime, on paper at least, the board are doing a good job of the damage limitation of NC's departure fallout, with a good manager and departing players replaced with equally skilled newcomers, a state of the art training ground and a return to stripes. I'm confident we'll have a couple more decent signings soon, and that one or two academy graduates will make the step up and impress, and that we'll finish mid table, which I and most other Saints fans will be very happy with.

Bentancur also adjudicates on Gaston Ramirez. "The coach wants to evaluate, there are no particular news. If the coach does not want it, we can talk about a return to Italy.

There are no more Cortese and Pochettino. we'll see what the coach thinks."

Er...ML passed away one season before we got promoted to the championship.

Apologies for not reading beyond that point.

This is a thread for pointless arguments about nothing not actual transfer news.

I don't think Pelle looks anything special but he's still clearly an upgrade on Lambert. Lamberts finished, I thought he was complete garbage last season. Tadic is admittedly probably a fairly big step down from Lallana of last season, but Ramirez is a better player then Lallana when he gets a run in the side

Wow! What a myopic, harsh, discourteous & deluded view you have on Lambert, a true Saints legend. I'd hate to see how you spoke on your enemies. Lambert was garbage, finished. You would think he scored no goals or had why assists in your dystopian world. That's why Liverpool bought him eh?

Tadic a step down? Lallana is not that special & some forget his p*ss weak shot & lack of power mixed with questionable stamina to last 90+ mins. Looking at Tadic stats, I was hoping he may be a very shrewd bit of business & a cheaper upgrade but who knows how he will adapt but I am quietly confident. Clearly not a view you share but other opinions are clearly avsilable.

You don't think Pelle looks anything special?! Have you seen him in many competitive games then? Wow! Giving him a chance then although, according to your logic system, he's an apparent upgrade on our previous, "garbage" consecutive top scorer, 100% penalty taking record striker with a strong free kick, powerful shot, great assist record & hold up play, strong as an Ox in the box & good in the air who was instrumental in 3 promotions.

I don't know how Koeman will manage to attract the calibre of player you fawn for &, if he did, would you even notice them playing well?! :/

Tadic a step down? What helped shape this sweeping assumption? Lallana is not that special & some forget his p*ss weak shot & lack of power mixed with questionable stamina to last 90+ mins. Dutch friends speak very highly of him indeed. First based fan opinion rather than media or agent agenda drivel. Clearly not a view you share but other opinions are clearly available.

Wow logged on and thought that's a few new pages since lunch time there must be rumours of in comings ......... But no just the same old posters having the same old arguments. I suppose it is a forum maybe you could start a 'I want an argument thread' so those logging in on to see if there is any transfer news don't have to scroll through so much crap

BBC and my "fotmob audio news" android app (!) reporting we've softened our stance with Liverpool, and a move for Lovren is close.

Koeman quoted as saying he'd like Vlaar to replace him, but he will be expensive right now.

Fingers crossed both happen as far as I'm concerned!

Sky, BBC South, Saints and Liverpool confirm tonight one bid turned down over three weeks ago and NO contact since.
