Transfers (rumours) thread

Surely need backup for Boruc though? I don't rate Marshall as highly as most, but we can't rely on gazza for backup!

If we sign a keeper for 8 million odd, why would Boruc stay? We don't have the games to hold two front line keepers.

It would be new keeper plus Gazza.

Sorensen stayed at Stoke. He might just have the bottle to stay, be professional and fight for the shirt.

Or sit around collecting his money. Why would wanting to be No 1 choice at another club show a lack of bottle? I'd call that ambition and drive myself.

Maybe, and I'm going out on a limb here...maybe it suits Boruc to stay here even if he isn't automatic first choice. He's just got married, he'll soon be 35, and let's face it this is a good place to live compared to many areas. He might even want the challenge of another arguably better keeper. And by leaving given his age he's unlikely to get first team guarantees in most premier league teams by moving. But hey, let's just look at it one dimensionally.

So staying because it's a comfortable option rather than because it shows bottle and determination to fight for his place. Yep, I agree with you. He might well stay for that reason.

I think we will sign the French lad kolo at left back

Gut feeling that we will get Forster from Celtic

New deal for Cork and Steven Davies as new captain.

Centre back to me is key area

Yoshida and Hooiveld aren't good enough to be fair

So at least 2 new centre backs pending Lovren Situation

Still think we need another striker.

We may need a new striker but FFP rules on wages may dictate

Until we off load a few like Mayuka and sharp etc

Quite a few people think we have loads of money but most forget to factor wages

£30k per week.... Is over 1.5m a year for most of our senior squad

And we have probably 25-30 on that sort of money

This all adds into FFP RULES, so doubt we will spend more than another £20-30m tops

Forster £8m

De Vrij £10m (+give away 20% on resell profit and that price is possible)

Willems £6m

Clasie £10m (+ sell on clause here too)

Volland £12m

Out:

Osvaldo £6m

If Lovren leaves take those £25m and get Blind or Van Dijk on board.

There you have ambition within reach.

Small point - Boruc is 33, isn't he? No need to age him prematurely.

He is 34 years old, he was born on 20th February 1980.

Don't assume Cork will sign a new deal.

And we're tracking midfielders because of that plus we know that there will be interest in Schneiderlin towards the end of the window when some of the big boys miss out on primary targets and start working their way down the list. The club is always scouting not just for need, but also for succession planning. Any other approach would just be negligent.

We've only got 23 players so I can't see how we would be paying 30 of them £30k a week. That includes Gallagher, Reed, Gazza and JWP who wont be on anything like £30k. Mayuka, Sharp and Osvaldo will leave giving us on on the smaller squads and wage bills in the Premier League.

Really really think we should move for jordy clasie.

Hes said himself how highly he thinks of koeman so why not use this to our advantage?, ok man utd will be a more attractive option but if they dont make a move i see no reason why he would turn down the chance to move to the prem to be reunited with koeman, just like pelle and tadic who were also big eridvisie stars.

Some are saying we dont need him as we have cork or he will block ward prouse devolopment, but lets be honest he looks on a much higher level then cork already at a much younger age, and ward prouse needs to earn his game time not just have it put on a plate if hes good enough he will get a chance.

Also after seeing how quality clasie looks, it seems a really great compliment to tadic to be talked as the best player in the dutch league, im starting to feel positive again :-)

Of course we should sign him if the option is there, classy player than in a year or two will be worth at least £20m. Surprised there aren´t more rumors surrounding him but will probably start as soon as WC is finished and players are back in Europe...

It seems utterly ridiculous right? So why the hell is he being linked with the Scousers and Tottenham? I refuse to believe mass media is inherently stupid.

Probably for a potential jan move

But I would be amazed if we sell anyone of note mid season.

Jay Rod's contract situation isnt ideal. Should have extended his contract when we had the chance in Feb.

New board not done great in this aspect so far.

Maybe things will get better now but you harping in about it sent going to help.

Im just pointing out the situation. It won't help nor hinder as its just an opinion on an online fans forum.

If Jay doesnt sign a new contract before the end of the coming season then we will surely look to cash in next summer (latest) rather than let him go for free.

Honestly, if you were him, would you sign a new contract at Saints? If it were me I would see hows things go for a bit...which isnt ideal for the club.

There's no good worrying about that and everything else. We have a big name manager and maybe just maybe things will get better.

Lol. What a load of unsubstantiated tosh. How did that **** make it into an article?

I know it was a rhetorical question, but it is the Mail and the truth has never got in their way. I do sometimes winder whether Simon Jones vies with Ashton for who can write the ****tiest article

Actually I'd say the opposite with J-rod as we have no idea whether A) he will recovery properly B) if he does whether he will re-find his old form. Had we offered him a nice bumper 5 year contract and never recovers to be the same player we'd be chucking good money after bad.

The situation is very good, getting better by the day. The majority are optimistic but sick minded individuals like Saint Charlie can no longer help themselves. He and the others like him come on to deliberately try to stress out fans who are too naive to see thru what he's up to. He promised to change but it's evident he just can't help himself.

Liverpool are the 1st team we play. Having seen how much they upset us with signing Rickie and Lambert they're using the media to be linked with every player. JayRod is out for at least another 4-5 months, so why, other than to unsettle and stress us, would they go for him now? Get a grip people, we're growing from strength to strength.
