Transfers (rumours) thread

Trust me- I would rather Schneiderlin and Wanyama as a combination than any one containing Honda. He has done nothing for Milan since joining. Montolivo is twice the player he is. Not that I am suggesting Montolivo is within the realms of possibility.

Hondas main position is in the front 3 behind the striker... And he is definately good enough for us

We dont need a CM, as good as he is, tue only one Id want to lose is Cork, and I dont really want to lose him either

Why wouldn´t we upgrade a position if the possibility is there?

I keep seeing that people saying that CM are our strongest position, but that doesn´t really mean that we are strong in that position imo.

As we could see last year as soon one (or both) of Schneiderlin/Wanyama was out.

Not just upgrade either - He would give us a different option - You could play him in the advanced position and still play 2 DMC's behind him.

I'd sign him, but I'm not sure we're in for him.

Im not sure Morgan will still be here come September, much as I'd love him to stay (unless Koeman can work his influential magic). To that end Clasie would be a top replacement.

Even the commentators on ITV are calling him the Dutch Xavi. Be nice to have a Xavi type at SMS. He'd fetch us multi millions of pounds next summer! :-)

Because the only one I see Clasie as an upgrade on is Cork, and theres not a lot of difference there IMO. Plus we have Reed and JWP to blood, so I just dont see the need.

Well yes, everything changes in that situation and if such then obviously I think he will be a decent replacement, but he isnt morgans level.

Personally I think morgs will stay

Liverpool want Jay apparently according to the Mirror. Also Lovren of course.

The fact that it's part of a slightly ludicrous story about a £135m 'spending spree' makes me feel a bit better. Especially funny is the line that Rodgers feels Jay Rodriguez is the perfect replacement for Suarez.

Remember when Matt Oakley was injured for ages, the longer he was out the better he became?

Maybe that's the same with Jrod, I know it's close season but he's been out what, 3 months? Come Christmas he could be as good as Suarez, if we're bottom or struggling he might even be as good as Ronaldo!

He was walking pretty well yesterday at The Common with Clyne, Jos, Cork and Boruc who went into the eighties show. Stopped and had photos done and all seemed happy enough.

Sorry not sure if already posted:-

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is ready to offer Nathan Redmond a swift return to the Premier League.

Koeman has stepped up his rebuilding job at St Mary's by launching a move for the England under-21 international, who is also attracting interest from Stoke City.

Redmond will be allowed to leave Norwich City following their relegation to the Championship, though the fee of around £6m is proving a major stumbling block.

But Koeman is keen to add pace and width to his new squad and is poised to make a bid for the winger this month.

Southampton have already banked around £55 million from the sales of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert and will target young ambitious players ahead of the new season as they bid to restructure their squad.

After a curry, my wife's a poo lady.

I approve of Redmond if the price is right. Only 20 and has potential. Hughton, I believe, is one of those managers that signs a player and does nothing for their development, just plays them as they were signed. Redmond needs nurturing and could become a real Premier League force if coached correctly.

Read on a Cardiff forum they we're debating whether or not they would accept 10 million plus Fonte for Marshall ... Deluded much!? Good keeper but if we pay anywhere north of 8 million for a keeper especially a just relegated one we've been mugged!

Most fans are deluded when debating costs of their prize assets

If we're willing to offer a swap it would explain why the ITKs mentioned only Cork being offered a new contract.

Sounds about right, although not that fussed about us chasing a keeper.

Just got a horrible feeling that should lovren stay, we won't see another CB. Maya will remain 3rd choice. Which is fine IMO but that puts hooiveld way to close to the first team IMO. Seems like he is staying which is fine. For morale lol

Really can't understand this mentality. How many points did we lose last year from not having proper cover in goal? Getting another keeper is a top priority for me.

You could be right - if Lovren goes I'd like to see two decent CBs in - one Lovren style (some level of high level experience) one younger/more raw - say Van Dyck from Celtic. And then ship out one of Jos/Maya.

Let's see how pre-season goes. After the reviews that Jack Stephens got from Swindon fans it is quite possible that he & Turnbull may have matured more and be ready to fill the back-up roles. Let's face it, Chambers came from nowhere to start the first game last season. Yoof is the way, perhaps they will now be ready for the bench and occassional outings as 4th & 5th choice CB's.

If we are relying on Stephens and Turnbull then we would soon be in trouble. And anyway Phil, heavily rumoured that Stephens is being lined up for a season long loan back at Swindon.
