Agree about Richards (probably on astronomical wages too) and Caulker.

Roswell is too injury prone for me and even if he was available on the cheap would be on massive wages. Could get someone like Gonalons or one of the Benders for not too much more and similar wages, or a prospect like Onazi or that young Bosnian who was quite good at the WC whose name currently eludes me....

I nearly put no thanks for Rodwell too. I just think if he could stay fit and didn't want silly money, he could be an asset.

Rodwell has only played 100 league games in 7 years.

Any club that takes him would take him on loan IMO to see if he can actually play a season.

Ryan Bertrand? Solid but not spectacular whilst on loan at Villa last season, although with rumours of Liverpool being interested in him I imagine he's hanging on to see if he can be part of Brendan's "project" there - if not I'd take him ahead of Armero.

Looks like Jutkiewickz is signing for Burnley, Ings on his way out? ;)

What a woeful signing that is for Burnley.

Perfect for Saints though?

Danny can make his 'dream move' to the 'team he supported as a boy' (Saints).

Meanwhile Luke can benefit from the Burnley production line and dramatically improve over a couple of seasons (say, becoming top scorer in the championship in the 2015/16 season...

...before making his 'dream move' to the 'team he supported as a boy' (Saints).

Burnley really are gonna love us.

Although I heard the deal was off? :-( (Come on Burnley, pull your finger out; we can't be expected to develop all of our players ourselves, ffs!)

Have to say Rupert Lowe had the right idea when it came to signing and keeping foreign players happy and ready to sign. Someone needs to remind Les that you sign them up in pairs i.e. they come in pairs. How many times did we bring along a foreign players boyfriend or mate. This is one for Saint Charlie to answer. Needs something to keep him occupied and his feet (aka opinions) on the ground :)

By the way you miserable s o d s, it's my birthday today. Even Bearsy's forgotten.:)

Rumours that we could be doing a Loan swap deal with AC milan. Osvaldo out. Honda in. Both have option to buy at end of the loan. Would love this really rate Honda. Maybe Maya has been in his ear about our great club :D

No Balotelli no care.

That'd be a decent bit of business and would have the attacking midfield spots sewn up. Ramirez-Honda-Tadic has a lovely creative ring to it.

When was the last time we loaned a player in? Was it Jos?

Source?

Source was a rumour posted on Skysports rumours yesterday. I saw it too. Not entirely unfeasible i guess but probably unlikely.

I suppose Osvaldo and Honda are similar in some ways. They're both quality players who were poor in their short spells at new clubs. The difference is that Milan will be loaning him out to see if he can improve whereas we'd only loan Osvaldo if we can't get a more attractive offer from a permanent buyer.

I'd rather get rid of Osvaldo permanently but Honda is a great player who would provide a bit more depth in the final third while Rodriguez is out.

Would go absolutely spastic (in a good way) if that happens, which means it probably won't.

Agree. Apparently the source was a "good source within Milan youth team who says that Honda could be frozen out of the first team if he stays" No idea if true or made up, most likely made up.

I've wanted us to sign Honda for years! But it's always just been a pipe dream, I would shed tears of joy if this happened but I think it'll remain a dream.

If Southampton sign Keisuke Honda I will buy every member of this forum a pint at the fist game of the season and get "I love Saggy Chops" tattoo'd on my winky

Stu Romsey Saint made a similar bet, the poo eating never commenced :(

Us signing Honda doesn't look that ridiculous, does it?

Probably not that likely but doesn't seem totally beyond the realms of possibility - he's had a terrible season in Italy so they may want rid, we could probably afford him and I imagine his wages wouldn't be that astronomical.

I've not actually seen a credible link so is this even worth discussing? Doubtful.

Cardiff just reported that Marshall has tweaked a muscle in training and will not be risked before the team leave on pre season tour for Austria next Thursday. Really hope we can get this signed and sealed in the coming days.

Will be an interesting close up view on Classie this evening - he starts for the Dutch.

Will probably raise his price....

Really looking forward to seeing him play.

Honda isn't good enough. Anyone who watches Serie A would understand. He gets a few goals for his country (not so much for club), and is very incomplete. Not the best defensively and not creative either- certainly not by Serie A standards.

Honda, not good enough, for us? Are you taking the **** or something?

What the hell have I just read.

Trust me- I would rather Schneiderlin and Wanyama as a combination than any one containing Honda. He has done nothing for Milan since joining. Montolivo is twice the player he is. Not that I am suggesting Montolivo is within the realms of possibility.

I think Honda would play further forward than Morgan or Vic do though, more of an attacking midfielder role. Plus he's great from set-pieces, seen him slamming in free kicks for club & country for a few years now.

Maybe the fact he's had a bad season in Italy will give him a point to prove in a league that's probably better suited to his qualities?

Still a lot of rumours that Morgan is in advanced talks with Spurs

Seeing as Koeman said pretty categorically yesterday, that there were no bids, then we could throw the book at Spurs.

Come on. The club have previous with this

If they want to make Koeman look a pillock, then good on them. There will only be 1 winner there and it won't be the club.

Not sure that's the intention.

I'd like to see us get Will Hughes. He'd be absolutely ideal for us and it'd be nice to get one back over Liverpool

Just signed a new contract at Derby, although I agree, he would be a good addition.

Didn't realise he'd signed a new deal. Good. Staying at Derby under a good coach is what he needs. Would have liked to have seen him at Saints, of course but he'll get more games at DCFC.

Maybe next year.
