Convict Colony Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Jose was joint 2nd with Adam behind Dejan as our best performing player last season according to whoscored with av 7.21 rating http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18/Show/England-Southampton
Clunge Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 I wouldn't be to fussed losing Fonte to be honest, for me he is rash and always got an error in him, easily replaced with better. Cork I wouldn't want to lose, solid player, extremely unlucky to have schneiderlin and Wanyama playing in same position.
Matthew Le God Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 I wouldn't be to fussed losing Fonte to be honest, for me he is rash and always got an error in him, easily replaced with better. We need four senior centre backs, not two.
Patrick Bateman Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 We need four senior centre backs, not two. But Clunge disagrees with you, so as that's not 100% of Saints fans agreeing with you, you're wrong.
swannymere Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 It would be such a backward step to lose a player of Cork's quality, but at his age he needs to be playing every week and i'm not sure we could guarantee that.
Wrensup Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 I wouldn't be to fussed losing Fonte to be honest, for me he is rash and always got an error in him, easily replaced with better. Easily? Really, who would you suggest?
Convict Colony Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 (edited) Not sure if this was already posted earlier (apologies if so) but i saw in the Times that we were linked with Matt Jones the Beleneses goalkeeper to be our no.2. Nice article on him from the fail last year - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2508152/Matt-Jones--Belenenses-goalkeeper-benefiting-moving-Portugal.html Edited 26 June, 2014 by Convict Colony

What bothers me about Cork is he only knows how to pass backwards. Poch loved possession football so Cork would pass back and forth in the Saints half, passing to Fonte or Lovren most often and would never press forward. I'm hoping Koeman places an emphasis on goal scoring through quick plays and through passes. Maybe it was just how he fit in Poch's system but I hope he can do more with Koeman.

From what I can gather, Koeman's style is much more direct, but not from long balls. Very much always look for the forward pass, exploit the flanks, pacy players. Going to be a big contrast from last couple of seasons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

People keep trotting this out with regards to players including Shaw and Lallana on here and now Fonte? If he is easily replaceable with better why has he survived here for 4 years as a first team player despite a number of other CB's coming in?! Madness, deserves a new contract as does Cork. Sort it out board!

S-Clarke Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Got a feeling he will be our fist addition....and what a first addition! We can make a profit on him next year.....
Dr Who? Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Kokorin I believe is someone we are looking at. That header was very Rickie
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Tadic a direct Lallana replacement? Hopefully a Gaston replacement. Im a big fan of the Gast's ability but he just isnt suited to the PL.
Clunge Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 We need four senior centre backs, not two. Obviously would need replacement, I thought a grown man could work out the obvious!

Because we have reinforced other areas, not a endless pot of money, our back four of last season was (for arguments sake) clyne, fonte, lovren and shaw, whose the weak link in that?

Olallana Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Why....just why are people asking Nixon on twitter about Saints transfers? He knows fekk all.....might have had info in the championship days but now he has no sources in the club!
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Not gonna lie Origi of Belgium has impressed me from day one, not really heard that much about him before
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Not gonna lie Origi of Belgium has impressed me from day one, not really heard that much about him before Looks class. Heading to Liverpool apparently.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Looks class. Heading to Liverpool apparently. Surely he needs to join us first though?
Badger Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Lets go Dutch! de vrij, martins ini and Blind. Would be good, and throw in Clasie to keep them company as well. Looks class. Heading to Liverpool apparently. So with him and Shaqiri presumably they have no need for Lallana then. Glad that's sorted.
Minty Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Not rumours as such, but two names that have reached me recently as potential Shaw replacements: Nicolai Boilesen and Jetro Willems. Both play in the Netherlands, almost certainly known to Koeman, both young and have fledgling or potential International careers. I know nothing about either, but their names have reached me so thought I'd pass them on.

Saint Charlie Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Willems a couple of years ago was destined for big things.
Badger Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Nicolai Boilesen has been linked with us before. Can remember the name. I remember this, and also reading at that time that he seemed to be continually injured !! So, make that two LB's please.

SuperSAINT Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Decent scouting report on the Dundee Utd left back Andrew Robertson. http://www.soccerkickz.com/scout-report/andrew-robertson/
Saint-Armstrong Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Dušan Tadić saying he will choose a club in the next few days (top right) Twente chairman has apparently said he is off... fee in region of £10m...
saint michael Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Decent scouting report on the Dundee Utd left back Andrew Robertson. http://www.soccerkickz.com/scout-report/andrew-robertson/ I have a friend who is Dundee utd fan and he raves about this lad and also a young midfielder. He reckons that all the top sides have been there to scout the pair of them. Good investment I think

Toon Saint Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 If Tadic signs does that mean Lovren will be off, or are Croat-Serb relations a bit better now?
Window Cleaner Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 If Tadic signs does that mean Lovren will be off, or are Croat-Serb relations a bit better now? don't think that they're too bad, it's the different ethnies within each national group that don't always get on.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 If Tadic signs does that mean Lovren will be off, or are Croat-Serb relations a bit better now? Quite a sweeping generalisation to think just because they are Serb and Croat they wouldn't get on.
Toon Saint Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 (edited) Quite a sweeping generalisation to think just because they are Serb and Croat they wouldn't get on. I wasn't being entirely serious, but certainly not something to be dismissed either given their recent histories and law-suits of genocide filed against one another. First two games against each other as sovereign nations were only last year in the WC qualifiers. Bearsy Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Is pelle pronounced as in to rhyme with bell? Or is it like pele? Or some 3rd option which is yet to occur to me?
Toon Saint Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Is pelle pronounced as in to rhyme with bell? Or is it like pele? Or some 3rd option which is yet to occur to me? Like Pele but the 'l's are silent. So something like pe-yay.
Katalinic Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Is pelle pronounced as in to rhyme with bell? Or is it like pele? Or some 3rd option which is yet to occur to me? Umm maybe its like with an r on it - like Peller.
