Transfers (rumours) thread

I know its all gone quiet since his virus and short loan spell at Stoke but would Koeman go for Guidetti who scored 20 goals as a 19yr old for him.

22 yr old now and according to transfermarkt since then his market value has halved due to the injury and lack of impact at stoke (not his style of team).

Koeman rates him massively !!

http://www.goal.com/en/news/462/netherlands/2012/05/18/3111219/guidetti-can-be-as-good-as-ibrahimovic-says-koeman

Apparently been on our radar previously and fits in with the profile of purchases we seem to like to try and make going forward.

Just to add to this Guidetti is one of the few footballers Koeman follows on twitter.

MODS - would it be an idea to have a thread for Saints and one for other transfers???

More on Suarez http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2663432/Barcelona-beat-Real-Madrid-52m-signing-Luis-Suarez-Liverpool-hero-prepares-swap-Premier-League-La-Liga.html

When someone said it would be funny to go for €20m, the release clause is €85m for all save Real/Barca when it is €65m (it should also be noted that £ has increased by bout 7% against the Euro, so Liverpool will be getting 7% less).

Amusing if he leaves them now

Hector Moreno linked again, albeit casual interest in a story re Poch

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2664020/Tottenham-enter-chase-Mexico-defender-Hector-Moreno-tabs-Argentinas-Marcos-Rojos.html

Perhaps he'll want to link up with MP again. If we'd been interested I'd have expected this to happen under MP's watch rather than now.

Apparently Lovren's agent sorting out his personal terms with Spurs next week according to reports in Croatia.

Can only see him going, but at least we should double our money on him.

If he goes to Spurs then the Champions League stuff is obviously ********. Hard to underestimate just how much some of the players loved playing for MP.

Tough environment for Koeman to come in to.

Simple answer Les, "F**K OFF !!!".

£20M from Barcelona or he stays.

Once we let one go, it becomes hard to keep anyone else who gets an offer from a higher club.

Ideally need to bring a couple of qualty signings in to demonstrate to AL/DL etc that the ambition did not not leave the club with MP.

That of course assumes their minds have not already been made up, which I suspect may be the case. Then it is simply up to the club to say "no - not selling".

I think the likes of Shaw, Lallana and Lovren have already made up their minds.

In which case, with less than 2 month to the start of the season are we not better off finding the best deal for each, getting it done quickly and bringing in replacements before our top targets go to other teams?

I am worried there is too much to do before August 16th and that the team that kicks off at Anfield will be i.) Far from complete in terms of recruitment and ii.) Not had enough time to play together, especially considering there will be a new playing style to adjust to.

With how the fixtures have fallen we have to start well if we want to have a decent season.

Hopefully potential replacements are already being sounded out so if/when deals go through the process of bringing in said replacements is quite quick. Last summer, Spurs had already spent pretty much all the Bale money before they finally accepted Real's offer.

More deals, more contingencies, more things that can go wrong.

If Lovren goes, we'll need to sign two CBs.

that's just not practical. the club need to just refuse at some point.

Yep. Plus what is to say that the replacement isnt also wanted by other clubs.

We did well last summer because Lovren and Wanyama played virtually all of pre season.

Currently, assuming Lovren, Lallana and Shaw go then we need:

2 x CB

1 x LB

1x GK

2 x Att Mid

2 x Striker

Thats eight players to bring in, plis sorting contracts for Cork and Fonte otherwise they will want to be off (as JF has said).

Not quick or easy and to be honest thats just to ensure we have a squad on par with what started last season, not an improvement at all.

We had Lambert, Rodriguez and Osvaldo competing to start up front and will have none of them this August.

Certainly not, Koeman can just top us up with Dutch players who are used to his style of play. System will be different anyway, might as well get some money and players who the coach actually wwants.

Exactly at some point it begins to matter where you lose players, not just how many you lose. Is it better to lose players spread through the team (defense, midfield, attack) or concentrated in one part of it?

We will have lost all 3 of our main attackers (Lambert, Lallana and Jay through injury) and the best two of our back four (Shaw, Lovren). Hard to replace, almost impossible for a team like ours.

Certainly going into the first game there is no way we will have anything like as good a lineup as faced WBA last year.

Still amazed the MP situation took so long to be resolved. Has cost us a lot of time. Suprised too that Koeman is still on holiday!

How many clubs have bought players yet? Not many I'd wager.

RK starts next week so no doubt business will start to be done, but hey, let's all go into Alpine whinge & panic mode

A few have made (decent) additions. Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Sunderland, Villa, Man City, West Brom etc.

Of course there is time but I can't think of another club who are likely to lose their best three or four players and have a new Manager to settle in.

IMO those factors make the summer more tricky for us, thats all. No Alpine mode etc, just a lot to be done in 2 months.

Can't see anything overly hysterical about the above.

All these supposed want away Saints youngsters. They should take a look at Wilfred Zaha. Goes off to United and at that point on the verge of the England squad. Doesn't get a game and now it looks like Palace are set to try and get him back. Now there's a good reference. I am sure there are many other examples of players going the same way.

The clubs in bold we aren't competing with. Of the others who decent have they signed? Villa certainly haven't. Baggies are paying Lescott a fortune, so much so that other midland/northern clubs baulked at his demands.

You think that the club haven't already got targets sorted and deals agreed? You think they've been sat around doing f**k all for weeks on end?

Club got the manager most of us wanted. Let's trust them that they are doing the same for players.

Much as I would love Suarez to leave just to show those scousers what it feels like! if he goes it will leave Liverpool with a lot of cash to come after our players!

If he leaves, they are going to need to spend a large chuck of that on a star striker

Average squad without him. Playing with a player of his quality could well be a big factor in why Lallana etc. want to go there

Rickie & Emre Can. Can't think of anyone else?

Apologies if that is incorrect.

Well I'd not really consider those as major additions, not compared to say Fabregas and then who knows what his actual state is really. Emre might be alright who knows but Lambert is at the end of the road, still he'll be able to sit on the bench at his spiritual home I suppose.

Easy to say that, which bits do you disagree with? Would be nice to actually hear an opinion?

Im not moaning, just pointing out there is a lot to be done in a short space of time and that Aug 16th will come around quickly.

I'm sure Saint Charlie didn't use to be this negative. In the last 6 months you have been jumping to a large number of very negative conclusions with very little evidence to support it.

Again. Of the post above what is overly negative? Its just an accurate summary. Which bit do you actually disagree with?

Lallana has said he is looking forward to meeting Koeman, Koeman and Reed have said they will do everything they can to keep the best players. Lallana, Shaw and Lovren might leave, but you've jumped to the conclusion they definitely will leave.

Plus the assumption of a new playing style and the fact that there has been no progress at all on the recruitment process. Even if we had signed someone as of now, the players haven't returned to pre season yet

There is no more evidence they will stay than there is that they will go. In fact, more of the evidence seems to suggest they will go.

Anyway, regardless of that, all I have said is that we will probably have more to do than most clubs. We already know for a fact Lambert and Rodriguez won't be available at the start of the season and they scored the majority of our goals last season. If, as expected, Lallana also goes then thats a hell of a lot to replace.

Please tell me what is wrong with that above paragraph? It is correct surely.

Thats the point I was making, we need to be sorting things out soon (and hopefully will) because there is already quite a lot of change with a new Manager, no Lambert of Rodriguez and in all probability one or two of our key defenders gone (CB cover was a huge weakness last season anyway).

Is it realistic that we will have signed 6 or 7 players by Aug 16th? No, probably not. So when we start the season we won't have done all our business and new players won't have had the luxury that Lovren did of a full pre season. Notice he hit the ground running.

I still don't see whats wrong with that? People can be bothered about kits or that Koeman is on Twitter or whatever, but there is a lot of work to be done. Thats without dealing with the Fonte and Cork situations which is another story.

There will always be changes in style between one Manager and another. Be it training, getting used to their methods, formations etc.

May well be small, but still more change.

You continue to jump to the conclusion that because the club aren't giving fans a minute by minute outline of their transfer dealings that the club is doing nothing to line-up new players. Just because they aren't telling us what they are doing doesn't mean by default nothing is happening. Les Reed has now stated publicly on a number of occasions they have a number of targets even before a new manager joined.
