Perhaps, but not for 10 million €s though. Napoli make a lot of noise about signings but they're all mouth and no action as a rule. We do know however that they can't afford Reina from Liverpool. Morgan will go to Arsenal as likely as not, it's probably already in the pipeline except that he says nothing about anything.

those who suggest we could get lukaku, chelsea have (apparently) put a €40m price on him

The absurd fees they received for Mata and David Luiz must have gone to their heads if they think he is worth that. They can't justify doubling the price of what is basically an unwanted player. Matching the £16m they paid for him (including all the add ons) would be a fair price IMO.

had lukaku been ours, I suspect you would laugh your arse off if someone offered us £16m

And yet some would tell you that 35 million is just a reasonable price for Lallana, if they don't want to sell they'll stick a ridiculous price on him, if some mug pays them that then it's a win win situation for them. As it would be for Saints.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/alexander-buttner-says-hes-leaving-3715676

Alexander Buttner is leaving Manchester United - because new boss Louis van Gaal doesn't rate him.Van Gaal's arrival at Old Trafford has convinced left-back Buttner to leave United - with Dinamo Moscow his likely destination.

Buttner, 25, is turning his back on United because he feels he has no future under van Gaal, who has consistently overlooked him for his Holland squad.

Signed from Vitesse Arnhem two years ago by Sir Alex Ferguson as back-up for Patrice Evra, Buttner has made just 28 appearances for United.

With Evra having extended his contract for a further season and United confident of signing Luke Shaw, Buttner knows the time is right for him to move.

He isn't though, he is a Chelsea player who is apparently unwanted by Mourinho. That's the difference, Chelsea do want to sell. Personally I'd expect him to go in the region of £20m, same as Lallana.

he isn't unwanted. Chelsea explained they have a scientific loan strategy last season, they are applying Game Theory with Lukaku.

Sorry but Mourinho really doesn't rate him at all and he doesn't "fit in" with their culture and approach. Last pre-season he was ordered to stay behind for shooting practice as he was so shyte.

I think it might be fairly obvious, and from what Guan has said, that the boardroom isn't working quite how it was envisaged. Best thing to do if RK wants to go to hockey is just admit that it didn't work out and just move on. Do any think it a little strange that RK didn't meet with RK when interviewed, appointed or seemingly since?

The club can say that he's done his job which was to over see it while there was so much instability what with not having a manager, but now one is in place, he can move on as the job is done. It might not be true, but who cares.

That link to Mannheim may turn out to be complete bs so we'll just wait and see. That said, I think with the sponsor being sorted and the new manager appointed, it might be a fairly logical point to depart. He has never given the impression of a man in this for the long term but someone brought in to assist a transitional phase.

Missed this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-eye-david-marshall-transfer-3720620

Are we allowed to like the stories that benefit us and say that the others are complete bull's hit?

Marshall on last season's form would be excellent, and of course proven in the EPL (which Fraser Forster, previously linked, is not.).

Gut reaction though is that we're more likely to bring a GK from the continent, Netherlands or Germany in particular.

If looking to build for the future, McCarthy at Reading has looked a good prospect, estimated at £3m in press reports when linked to Swansea.

Cardiff apparently want well over £10m for Marshall so on that basis I can't see us making a move for him.

Certainly debateable whether he is better than Boruc, if you compared the careers of the two Boruc would come out on top, albeit Marshall is slightly younger.

Personally, I think Boruc is too good to be a no2, especially at a club not in the Champions League or fighting for major trophies.

I know its all gone quiet since his virus and short loan spell at Stoke but would Koeman go for Guidetti who scored 20 goals as a 19yr old for him.

22 yr old now and according to transfermarkt since then his market value has halved due to the injury and lack of impact at stoke (not his style of team).

Koeman rates him massively !!

Apparently been on our radar previously and fits in with the profile of purchases we seem to like to try and make going forward.

Good shout. Seems like the kind of player we would typically go for too: quality youngish player on the fringe of his current team's squad (reference: Dejan Lovren). And then you've got the Koeman connection. Would be surprised if we don't make enquiries.

Edit: just read the article which says we have already made an enquiry. "Premier League strugglers Southampton...". Strugglers....?!

Double edit: ah, its an old article. Too early in the morning for my brain to be working on all cylinders!

Borini yes, but not in an exchange for Adam

What if the offer is £15m + the add ons (c.£10m) + Borini? Could pose a bit of a dilemma? And what would we have to pay Bournemouth? 25% of the £15m or is it £25% of something less tangible?

We may get a net transfer of £11m plus Borini plus £5m+ in add ons

I previously saw a figure of £6m in one article, but if true then we'll no doubt find better value abroad.

I think Forster at celtic was also mentioned around £6m.
