Feyenoord midfielder @ImmersLex understood to be @Koeman1963's top transfer target to bring to #SaintsFC. Manager appointment in nxt 48 hrs.

Not too sure about this lad. As others have said, his stats are underwhelming, and he definitely isn't good looking enough for us.

He's a striker/Midfielder, yeah?

Couldn't we take Clasie & Pelle off them instead? :)

More Kevin Nolan.

I was going from a "trusted lieutenant" angle rather than playing style. Would prefer that to not be our first signing.

To be fair, hitting double figures in terms of goals from CM two seasons in a row is pretty good and according to Whoscored he was the 5th best player in the league (Pelle was the number 1)

Obviously stats can end up being pretty meaningless and the Eredivisie is not the best, Koeman will know him well and we should trust that he knows enough about the players from his old club to know which ones can do a job here.

Personally I'd be looking at younger players than Pelle and Immers, but the new manager wanting to bring in the two top scorers from his old club is no surprise.

By the looks of this, he likes to get forward!

Seems a bit too keen for the long ball (which is probably due to Lennon's style) but this guy looks quality. A defender that has an eye for goal, plays with his head up, can draw players in and beat a man. Get him on the bus.

Get Caulker in as well and I'd be pretty happy...

Unless Stefan de Vrij is remotely realistic/possible of course.

Bruno Martens-Indi would be my idea of a good signing alongside Van Dijk.

Really impressed by him against Spain, big. strong and only 22.

Would be my preference for a CB from the little I've seen or read.

Do we have any reason to believe this guy is anything other than a wind-up merchant?

Not sure. Claims to have worked with the club for several years, but he also said Yakin and FdB were on a five-man shortlist which sort of ruined his credibility.

We know that Yakin was never contacted and there is nothing to indicate FdB was approached.

I think he knows some bits, but in this case the Suarez comment is probably just to wind up a few scousers... :)

also in the guardian transfer rumours....

Ronald Koeman is, like most sane folk at this time of year, swanning about in his swimming trunks and holiday hat as he suns himself in Turkey. It means he has left the business of negotiating his arrival as the new Southampton manager to his Mr 15%, who has been very busy on his behalf. If his Mr 15% is to be believed, Koeman will roll up at St Mary’s imminently alongside his brother Erwin, fitness coach Jan Kluitenburg and a gift set of Turkish tea glasses bought from the Ataturk airport shop.

He will hope to have someone else tucked under his arm too – namely the £8m defender Virgil van Dijk, whose form at the back for Celtic and skill with dactylic hexameter verse he hopes will fill the hole left by birthday-suit-swimmer Dejan Lovren, who wants to take his bare buttocks to Liverpool.

Main worry with any new manager is bringing in his favourites, having a CM he trusts, and not appreciating just what we have at CM ourselves. Not playing Wanyama and Schneiderlin would be insane. Not making the most of Cork would also be insane. If any of them leave, you have Davis and JWP who have proved 10 times more at this level already than the Feyenoord guy.

Hope it's just predictable rumours. We just don't need CMs. CB, wide players, strikers yes, but please no endless CMs. Would be very hard to take if we spend money on this guy and let Cork leave for nothing.

There was similar when Poch came in, wasn't there?

I know we obviously went in for Coutinho, and later signed Osvaldo. But there was talk of another Espanyol midfielder on several times, was it Verdu, or something like that?

@Markla94 Hi Mark, what are your thoughts on Lex Immers being linked with a move to #saintsfc? Would he do well in the EPL? Thanks.

@thomas_j_morris Hi. He's more a player for the Championship I think. Very physical but his technique is not very good.

Also think Immers plays further forward than Schniderlin, Wanyama, Cork.

Main worry is that he appears to play the same position as Ramirez and Lallana, but just not as well.

I know literally nothing about Immers, so won't pass judgement on him until I've seen him.

Almost everytime a manager moves clubs, there are rumours of him bring at least one, or two players with him. It doesn't actually happen all that often in reality, and even then it's rarely more than the one.

Presumably out transfer committee would have a say? So unless this guy is an improvement on what we've got I'd be amazed if he came in.

He used to post on here and has links to the club, from what I know I'd be inclined to believe him.

We don't need a new no 1, just a competent no 2.

Disagree - if we are improving the team we need a GK better than we have.

So his Wiki page says he got rejected by Aberdeen on a trial about 3 years ago - He must've had a Lazarus-esque career resurrection in Portugal for this move to happen.

He's pretty young. It may be as simple as him finishing growing and then filling out giving him the extra presence and confidence

Doesn't look an improvement on Boruc IMO (Have only flicked through the video briefly as I am at work.)

I doubt he is being looked at to replace Boruc, more likely to replace a retiring KD or Gazzaniga.

I wouldn't put any emphasis whatsoever on a video showing a keeper stopping shots. Any keeper at any level could have a video put together like this. What is far more telling is when a keeper fails to make a save and the manner in which they let them in. E.G Kelvin would have a fantastic keeping video full of dramatic saves, but sadly in truth he is a bit of a liability on his near post when up against the best teams.
