Transfers (rumours) thread

it's all nice to read but would Hernandez even want to play for us in the first place

I suppose it depends on how much he enjoys getting around 25 starts per season. But he's been there for four seasons - surely he would understand that it might be best to look elsewhere for first team football (if the manager's attitude remains the same)?

I actually suggested we get hernandez in return in the luke shaw thread a couple of weeks ago, think it would make it much easier to swallow actually getting some one decent in return instead of penny pinching and buying championship players.

Hernandez would be just the ticket, pacy finisher who would probably of hit 20 a season if atarting first choice every week for utd.

Meanwhile it is also believed that despite an indifferent six months on loan from Southampton, Dani Osvaldo is potentially still in line to prolong his career with Juventus.

It is understood that director general Beppe Marotta is still dealing with the Premier League outfit over a possible renewal of his loan.

Well that will have to do. Get's his wages off the balance sheet at least.

If we are after Hernandez it would suggest that our our enquiries about Bony haven't been sucessful.

Sorry, I missed the speculation we had enquired for Bony? I would be very surprised if we had. That aside though, it wouldn't necessarily mean they had been unsuccessful, clubs make numerous enquires throughout the season.

We have enquired, as have many clubs. Someone at another BPL club has said that Swansea want £20m based on the interest.

Not that I´ve read about any enquiries for him, but I dont think we´re only looking for one striker in this window.....at least I hope not...

Can't see it happening, but would be pretty happy if Bony and Chicharito came in.

Rickie who?

Obviously, I'm only joking. I'm still gutted he's gone. :(

Would be happy enough to spend £30-35 million on those 2, then use the Lallana and Shaw funds to bring in another 3 or 4 players

Kevin Volland would be quality. Heard he is has a £12million buy-out clause. Nearly made German Squad for WC and only 21. Can play across the '3' behind the striker too(hence the strike rate not being too impressive). My German friend, Kino, rates him very highly. Wouldn't mind Firmino from Hoffenheim too!

Hmmm 11 goals and 9 assists in the Bundesliga last season, buy out 12 million or so, now perhaps people can see why I firmly believe that we will never ever get 30 million for Lallana.

English talent, playing in the Prem moving to a Prem club.

Can't be compared to non-domestic to Prem transfers.

Carroll = £35m, Michu = £2m. It's bonkers yes, but that's just how it seems to work.

Sorry, I'm not deliberately playing the if 'x' is worth 'y' then 'a' must be worth 'b'.

It's just that Prem to Prem transfers always go for more, especially when the player involved in English/British.

Yes I see that, then again as I believe that most British players are overvalued and overated and that's why you have a national side peopled by over 30s including makeshift right backs and CMs who should have been put out to grass years ago. I always tend to believe that the real value of players is only apparent when they move from country to country. Now if GB had the unique national side that it's size merits we'd be far more competitive and being English would be downgraded as far as value goes. 4 national sides for 1 nation is ridiculous don't you think.

I don't disagree with any of that mate. It's true, English players are over-valued and over-hyped. This is probably the main reason why so few move abroad. There is rarely any value in a British player to a foreign club.

A GB team would be good I think. I don't really get why we are a Britain as a nation and England in sports.

Though, that said, without any intentional arrogance. The team would most likley be England, with a few Welsh players (Ramsey, Bale). Can't off the top of my head think of too many others that would be in the first XI.

I see Kasper Schmichel just signed a new 4 year deal with Leicester. Shame wouldn't of minded him in a Saints shirt, but fair play.. alot of money and ambition going into that team.

Wouldn't read too much into the waffle a banana republic owner spouts to his own local media.

Their signings to date have been incredibly low-key: Ben Hamer (Charlton keeper), Jack Barmby (Nicky B's son and united reserve striker), Matthew Upson and Marc Albrighton -all on frees.

They've been linked with Gareth Barry, Frazier Campbell, Ross McCormack and Ulloa from Brighton.

Good chance Nugent is on his way out.

Albrighton on a free, that's not too bad, wouldn't mind him on a free at Saints (or wouldn't have before he went to leicester)
