Pastor Patrón Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 Vela is playing at the kind of level you'd hope Chamberlain will when he's 25, but Sociedad have nothing like Arsenal's money. Buying from Premier League rivals, especially big clubs, is massively expensive and it would be a ludicrous backwards step for Alex. Vela wouldn't be easy at all but there's not a hope in hell of us signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back. Chamberlain also has a 25% sell on clause, so we'd essentially get 25% off. Him and Vela would both cost us between 15 and 20 mill imo. There's absolutely no way it would be a bigger step back for Chamberlain then Vela, we're the future of English football and would jump start his career both at club and international level. Vela's doing fine where he is, Chamberlain isn't and clearly still has a soft spot for the club.
DuncanRG Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 He's in and around England's first XI, playing in the Champions League and making a case to start centrally in the league's most competitive midfield. Without injuries he'd have made even more progress. If he has two injury-free seasons and still can't get into the Arsenal side regularly then he might consider a move. Even then, coming back to Southampton would be admitting defeat.
Pastor Patrón Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 Yeah ok bro, I'm sure Carlos Vela and David Villa are far more realistic.
DuncanRG Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 I don't think they are, necessarily. Certainly not Villa. I don't know much about Real Sociedad but I know enough about Arsenal, etc
Olallana Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 That would be bizarre, £3.3m is no money at all. They would have brought him back by now, methinks. Yes, but it is the figure Sociedad paid for him when they bought him from Arsenal so could be some sort of agreement with a buy back clause like that to see if he evolved. Arsenal might have clauses like that, as is said in the case of Fabregas if it´s true.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 4 May, 2014 Share Posted 4 May, 2014 He's spoken very openly (quite disrespectfully, in fact) about his desire to move to a Champions League club. If nobody at that level goes in for him (of the English clubs I can only imagine Arsenal being interested) we *might* be able to convince him that we're much closer to achieving that than Swansea. It would be expensive though. Chances are he'll spend another year with them and hope he can impress enough to secure a bigger move. He'd be an absolutely quality signing but he's openly admitted to using Swansea as a stepping stone and would doubtless do the same with us if he keeps playing well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk A taffy in the alehouse I went in after the game was moaning like **** about him and Mitchu. Reckons their big time charlies and their attitude has caused a lot of problems at the club.

supersonic Posted 5 May, 2014 Share Posted 5 May, 2014 This is just an opinion, but Hakan Çalhanoğlu who currently plays for Hamburger SV in Germany. A striker/Wide player with fantastic dribbling and dead ball techniques. He's fairly quick too - would certainly help out as we look a bit lightweight up front and depending how JRod's rehabilitation goes. May be available relatively cheaply as his club look to be getting relegated.

Always need players that can improve a squad if we want to step up Don't think Morgan will go, and if he did, we've still got more than enough in CM. Huddlestone wouldn't improve us, would just add another pace-less player to our midfield, which is kind of the last thing we need. If there are 2 area's on the pitch that it's hard for us to really improve on, you'd have to say that it's RB and CM - Those areas are covered so well squad wise. Im always nervous about GKs at clubs that get relegated - they have more shots per game to save. So always come out looking better than they really are. Why would anyone buy j rod this summer rather than wait until January to check he's fit, recovered, and returned to being the player he was before his injury.
