Anyone have one of these back in the day?

My parents have just found my passbook from 1994 – it has £1.97 in it J

Will try to find out whether its still open and whether I can get the money out... may be enough to buy a pint now!

Ha yes i remember those, i wonder if Eileen and Alan who used to run the Junior Saints got a commission for every member they got to sign up!

those were the days, used to look forward to getting a birthday card signed by your favourite player.

do they do anything like that for kids now?

Ah, the old Junior Saints days! Sat on the benches in the lower East stand "hot dogs, sausage rolls, come on Saints score some goals"! That was my vantage point for one of our thrashings of Liverpool, they were wearing the grey Candy kit and I was briefly on TV behind Hanson as he took his throw in. Must have worn out the video tape back replaying that over and over (it was a rare live game on MOTD I think)!

Still got my certificates and birthday cards at my Mums somewhere, signed by Chris Nicholl and Le God.

Good question re do they still do it? I'd hope so anyway.

Tell a lie....It was £1.26 :(

The birthday cards were amazing!

Also....who went to Junior Saints football on Saturday mornings at Oaklands?

i too had the woolwich savings account and also went to the Saturday football at Oaklands for years run by Mike Harvey. My mum and dad ran the kitchen/canteen there for a few years too on the sat mornings.

If it wasn't for Junior Saints I might not have gone to matches.

First ever game was Arsenal away. 6 Aside beforehand, Eric Nixon played in goal (Shilts was injured). 1985.

Do the club still run a Junior Saints or equivalent?

I had a season ticket in the Junior Saints Section for a few years. It was bloody good that parents could drop kids off at ground well before game and pick them up well after end (I think for free) in the knowledge they'd be well looked after. I know they used to choose the mascot from the Junior Saints and as I got older (Secondary school) I remember being scared get picked and all my mates would laugh at me. never was tohugh, I do think they fixed who got picked even back in them days. No one over 11 was ever mascot.

My favourite memory was playing Shef Wed and all the Junior Saints shouting boo at Gary Megson and him shouting "Boo to you too" back at us. I hated him for years because of that. How dare he boo me?
