Lambert: give poch new contract!

The board have to decide the direction of the club over the next few years...dare I say it put another "5 year plan" in place.

If that is in line with what Pochettino wants to achieve, then he will sign. As log as this is ambitious i'm confident our players will stay, unless a ridiculous offer comes in.

I think you can read between the lines to see what the Board want the future of the club to be - they want to retain an identity but we must be sustainable i.e. not be reliant on cash injections from the owner. The first part of that appears to be ensuring we maintain what we've got but that appears to be linked with increasing commercial revenue.

He speaks a lot of sense doth Mr Lambert

Although it's strange that he feels the need to get involved. When MP was being linked with Marseille last week (or was it the week before) the reporters seemed fairly certain that MP was an easy target because his salary was ridiculously low compared to any decent manager (half of what they were paying Baup before they sacked him, thus MP is probably only on 20K£ a week). Perhaps he really does get a significant rise in his emoluments and contract terms if we finish 8th and thus we're just waiting for that to happen.

I think it’s important that you hear the things you want to hear – that players are not going to get sold, that we’re going to be trying to push on again next year and progress the way we’ve been progressing the last few years,”

He must have missed all the talk of return to traditional badge, stripes and a possible return of the fans forum. The rest is a bonus.

If you mean on the same lines as Marcus/Cortese, then forget it

"We must be sustainable" means exactly that

Seems to have gone quiet re the plans to "enlarge" St Marys ??, or will we be brought up to date when the next lavishly produced Season Ticket package is mailed out

How can a club with a playing staff as small as Saints not be sustainable on football income exceeding 100 million £ a year ?

Complete sense from Lambert as usual. Will be a massive blow if Pochettino went and a huge boost if he signed a new deal.

He has improved some of our players immeasurably.

“I think once the gaffer’s signed then I think that’s going to reassure everyone and that will give everyone else confidence of the direction we’re going to go.”

Everyone being players and fans.

What happened to doing our business on private and not commenting on speculation, or that old hat now and the words of a clueless dwarf wop who was good in the championship but out of depth in the prem?

"Clueless dwarf" You turning into a moronic twa@t again turds?

Don't think it's ideal having any important member of staff with just a year left on his contract.
But he hasn't just got a year left of his contract currently. It would obviously be good if he put pen to paper and would be important symbolically, but we're only in March 2014, not really an issue yet.

NO pal, just using the same rationale that was used on here between January-March 2013 when Nigel Adkins went from being the greatest manager we've ever had, the next great England manager and the new Alex Ferguson to being a clueless, grinning bumpkin who was out of his depth.

Well done on the Turds though, hilarious. How long did it take you to think that up Cul-De-Sac Saint? PMSL

I think it will read . The players. Most fans will be satisfied (though some can never be so ) but our real fans are with us through thick and thin.

IF we can give MP a good deal, he'll be happy and many of the players will be happy to stay on ...instead of moving, (although I agree one or two will surely move.)

MP on speculation about his contract: “You know I don’t talk about assumptions. When anything happens, there’ll be a statement.” #saintsfc

u44irW4k_bigger.pngSouthampton FC@SouthamptonFC

MP: “Rumours are normal in football. When I was at @RCDEspanyol, I was linked with other clubs and nothing ever came of that.#saintsfc

Subtle hint in that last comment that he's no intention of going anywhere?

Or maybe a subtle hint that he was looking to get away but he wasn't fortunate enough that time?

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino "very happy" to hear Rickie Lambert's comments about him this week: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11093885.Lambert_support_pleases_Pochettino/?ref=var_0 … #saintsfc

“When I was at Espanyol I was linked to other clubs, nothing came of those rumours and the same thing is happening at Southampton.”
