didn't we knock them back in January already because a: they didn't bid enough and b: the chairwoman had said no outs ??

Or was that just an unusually not well informed Equipe rumour ? They don't usually make stuff up, if they print it it's usually got some sort of base facts behind it. So they signed the injured Kallström instead on loan.

The same page says either arsenal or manure will be signing Chambers.

I wont have a view on either move until we see what happens in the summer. If the current owners stay in place, its hard to see any player with a long-term contract leaving unless we want rid or it was for silly money. That said, I'd have felt a bit more confident about that if cortese was still in charge.

Where has he officially made the quotes Tribal football alleges?

Which interview etc.

Not sure there is any official interest from Arsenal...even in transfer window.

Then again he has always been loaned to us by Arsenal ...

all those years ago.....

So some posters/news outlets stated.

the quotes come from a telephone interview in Bixenté Lizarazu's monday night programme, Club Liza, I've listened to it and

the quotes are roughly as reported although perhaps a little embroidered. In fact Morgan is somewhat evasive on the Arsenal question, says it wouldn't be easy because he has 3 years left on his contract but he hope to play for a top side soon. He was replying to questions about a recent report in the Sun though, how recent I couldn't say.

We must have missed it then:

Ill throw my two pennies on the rumours.

Shaw AND Chambers to Chelsea,

Lallana to Liverpool with also Dejan.

Like I say just rumours - my source? A friend who does not do bull**** was in a box for the Liverpool game was sat with AL's dad and they were discussing things this came out of it. Not sure Al dad would give up that sort of information but he may well know the other bits and maybe said Licerpool were interested.

Just passing on what I heard.

This is virtually identical to the 'Ramirez wants fiorentina' transfer story last year, when all he actualy said was that they'd be a decent club to play for.

Or any story where a player/manager is asked if they would like to join 'big club x', which is subsequently translated as "Player x seeks move to Big club y".

Kind of strikes me as "well duhh".

Silly season started already? I imagine the new chairman will have a few things to say about all of this, doesn't seem to me the type who will roll over and have his tummy tickled by bully boys and silly boys of the London press and their cohorts in Big Clubs. All part of the destabilisation process. Everything these days is part of a process it seems. Saints will field a pretty much unchanged team next season, maybe one or two in and some make weights out but the core of the team Shaw, Schneiderlin & Lallana will be the basis of any subtle rebuilding. Steady as she goes is what will come down from the bridge.

Since the take over how many players have we lost to other clubs that we didn't want to lose.......... the only one I can think of is Oxo. We may not be the richest club around but we're in a good enough place to make ourselves an attractive club to stay at and if a player really wants to go we're a position to get top money for them by playing hardball (and lets face it if they really don't want to be at the club - might as well let them go if the price is right). There is really no point worrying about it to much if a player goes they go. It's what the club does with the money and filling the place in the squad after that player has gone that is the important thing.

Haven't Liverpool successfully challenged this piece of conventional wisdom with Suarez?

Agree with the rest of your post.

It's difficult to tell what was going on as there seemed to be conflicting information around. Having said that, Liverpool are in a better position to persuade a player to stay than us.

Fair point I see your Suarez and raise you.................

Liverpool got away with it (big time)

Suarez's situation is closer to Morg's one, imo.

Both established players that already have connections within the club. Osvaldo was a new signing gone wrong. Fair point on Kenwyne, but our situation was completely different then.

Can't blame him, IF true. This could be the start of the Exodus that I'm not supposed to speculate about. The lure of European Football is immense

" Stay with us, or go to a Team that can offer Euro Footy "

No brainer isn't it. ??

He also says that its his best season in England. That he's been lucky to play in a good side with a manager who believes in playing the right way -and that he's happy. Also that the club wants to grow and that he wants to finish as high as possible and for that to continue for a long time.

You'll get nowhere with that rational, sensible non-sensationalist malarkey on here m'boy.

This shall get dismissed as rubbish specualtion as its deemed negative.

No its simply about reading the quote in its proper context.

"C’est ma meilleure saison en Angleterre. J’ai la chance de jouer dans une équipe qui tourne bien avec un coach qui prône un bon football, je suis content. Le club veut grandir. On va essayer de terminer le plus haut possible pour continuer comme ça longtemps" = which wasn't reported in the tribal football article.

"Arsenal ? J’ai encore trois ans de contrat, alors ça ne va pas être facile. C’est aussi mon rêve de jouer un jour dans un très grand club, alors pourquoi pas" = which was reported.

You can either crack one off or wet the bed depending on your perspective.

Has their been a longer running rumour than Morgan to Arsenal?

It began in 2008!

13 years later I'm still waiting for Bierhoff to be unveiled at St Marys.

I still think the Skacel rumour was the best. It may only have lasted 6 months but it was far more hotly debated. The Morgan thing is more of a slow burner.

I'm still interested in how the hell we signed Morgan for a reasonable fee when we were absolutely broke, selling off everyone and playing the kids.

If I recall correctly, Pompey were reported to be after him as well
