benjii Posted 18 March, 2014 Share Posted 18 March, 2014 I am flabbergasted. By any objective measure, Qatar is the obvious choice. Mr Warner also has an unimpeachable track-record. I hope FIFA rigorously pursues whoever is responsible for these terrible slurs. Some other scumbags were spreading vicious rumours about hundreds of deaths amongst the sla... workers involved in the construction projects recently too. Suggesting they are viewed as nothing but irrelevant foreign subordinates and treated appallingly. Nonsense! Long Live World Cup Qatar! Long Live FIFA! dubai_phil Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 Oh dear, not gone too well overnight for FIFA & Qatar. Sunday Times seems to have done them up like a kipper. I notice the standard response (correct legally) is that Bin Hamman was not a member of the Official Qatar World Cup Committee, which will be their get out clause. One then has to ask where the hell did BH get all the cash from? The talk of a re-vote is all well and fine IF the allegations would stand up in a court of law, but the fall out could cause immense consequences. Qatar has already invested Billions in infrastructure projects, a herd of Organisations & Individuals have invested HUGE sums as well. IF a re-vote happens then the claims for Damages could destroy FIFA and de-stabilise the country. Odds have to be on a fudge solution and no re-vote. I suspect you are right with a "fudged" solution, but it might be enough to see off Blatter. That might just be wishful thinking, but there will be blood spilt if it is proven and blatter will be in the firing line. The interesting thing in all of this is the FBI's involvement and their motives - I am not complaining at all very glad to have them on board, but why? Batman Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 (edited) FIFA are just utterly disgusting how Blatter and his cronies survive this time and time again is beyond comprehension. As normal, FIFA will let someone take the hit and resign, but it wont be Blatter. Glad that it is a British media outlet that is exposing this. FIFA should just let England have the sodding competition and we might go away either way, just such a disgusting organisation Im guessing it should go to Australia, really Edited 2 June, 2014 by Batman

I am pretty sure I heard on the Radio this morning that Blatter is distanced from this, but for whatever reason Platini is closer to the frontline which seems a bit weird. I hasten to add that I did get a phone call not long after so I might have missed the nub of the story.
Saint in Paradise Posted 2 June, 2014 Share Posted 2 June, 2014 Uefa has made it clear to its member nations that it does not support Sepp Blatter's intention to seek a fifth term as president of Fifa. The BBC has learned that Uefa does not want them to take part in any standing ovation for Blatter at Fifa's annual congress if he announces that he will stand for re-election. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27671654 . sunrise Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 The sooner that dinosaur Blatter sods off, the better! Qatar should have never been in the running in the first place as they have never qualified for the WC. Still I guess that money talks (alledgely). Didn't the USA come second in the vote? I know it was they were in for it along with the Aussies. Would be great if Qatar gets stripped of it. Hatch Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 this will drag on for years and years, then they will get stripped of it, it will be too late for any other country to host, therefore ends up in England. WC 2022 will be held in England .
Wade Garrett Posted 3 June, 2014 Share Posted 3 June, 2014 FIFA is rotten to the core. Just like the IOC used to be before they, admirably, cleaned up their act. Surprise surprise, they gave us the Games soon after. I think it's our refusal to bung large bribes to the third world despots, who seem to hold the FIFA balance, that is the reason for our failure in World Cup bidding. Funny that Russia got 2018 as well.... Blatter and his cronies are as bent as a 9 bob note. It wouldn't bother me one bit if UEFA members pulled out of future World Cups in protest. Keep the Euros and every other year to the EUROs have an open invite to select national teams to participate in a competition call is The World Football Championships imagine the top 20 european sides with 14 of the rest... Brazil Argentina Uruguay Chile Australia Japan South Korea USA Mexico Colombia Ivory Coast Cameroon Nigeria South Africa something like that Edited 3 June, 2014 by Batman

Wade Garrett Posted 10 June, 2014 Share Posted 10 June, 2014 It's up to the powerful footballing nations to circumvent FIFA. It is next to impossible to beat Blatter in any sort of vote because there are so many pygmies on board that he has bought. Would love it if England led the way and told Blatter to shove his tainted World Cup up his arse.

Sweet Jesus he awards each of the African Members an extra $30k bonus JUST before they have to vote on his re-election. And he DOESN'T think that is wrong? its more of case that he doesn't care He's corrupt and he's paying his cronies to ensure he stays in pole position to rake in the chips. Defelects criticism with the most obvious defence which will have resonance in Africa and Latin America - "critics are driven by racism, they want to keep the darkies down". Its an obvious transparent self interest game, not sure why anyone is surprised (except by how blatant it is).
