Window Cleaner Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 So why not stick Maya in there? Would MUCH prefer to keep Lovren alongside Fonte with Adebayor to cope with and with Spurs having pace down the wings we need Clyne & Shaw out wide. Having Maya in could almost allow Clyne & Shaw to play more as wing backs and keep the Spuds wide men deeper. We've all moaned at times about plan B's, we've had opposition teams pressing US much more of late so no reason why MP wouldn't try a small tinkering with our shape. #nodieawhathewilldo But do think Reed deserves a chance now Because Lovren and Chambers have both played in midfield, don't think Maya ever has, might be wrong. My choice would to play José and Maya at the back with Dejan just in front of them as a sort of sentinel with 2 CMs in front of him and 2 AMs in front of them, 1 striker.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Why is everyone so certain Cork won't play? Poch said he is doubtful however he was in training yesterday so a chance he maybe fit. Also Morgan has "Slight problem" so he may be ok to play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lighthouse Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 I think if it's anyone it will be Davis and JWP playing deeper, with Lallana, JRod and Guly in front. That's worst case, assuming Cork, VW, Morgan and Gaston are all out but I'd be surprised if that's the case.

IN the speculation stakes, Guly was also mentioned (as with Gaston) as having to be "assessed". It's a worst case scenario, we COULD have Cork, VW, Morgan, Guly, Gaston all missing. Kind of leaving JWP AL & Davis as our only fit midfielders. It's incredibly unlikely but at least it makes a change from normal threads. Hmmm didn't SRL used to play in midfield? looked good defensively last few minutes against Norwich..........
pangy Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 (edited) Go with a 3-5-2 -------------- - Boruc- ---------Jose Lovren Maya -Clyne --------------------- Shaw ----------Davis Jwp Lallana -----------Lambert J-Rod I am sure it will get pointed out why this would never work, but I like the look of that Hull have been playing like thsi most of the season and they have done well with it Edited 22 March, 2014 by pangy
Graffito Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 "It's a good model," Sherwood said. "It's a completely different model to Tottenham, as much as we want to bring our boys through. "Our boys have to be at a level of playing Premier League to Champions League. Southampton have had the benefit of their players being developed from League One to the Championship to now. So it's good. "Now is a test for them. How many can they deliver into the Premier League straight away?" What's he on about?

Sherwood is a skate **** so expect no less.
VectisSaint Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Nothing short of a win tomorrow will do now if we are to keep our faint championship hopes alive. Even then we have to overturn a 33 goal difference compared with Chelsea. Hate settling for 2nd again Never changes for me though, always the one team I really want to beat whenever we play them. I reckon we have a good chance, but depends who is and isn't injured.

Saint Charlie Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Good news that Cork has travelled. In the expected absence of Morgan it would be good if he is fit to start.

I would think chambers could easily play right side centre half in that system.

Saint Garrett Posted 22 March, 2014 Posted 22 March, 2014 Where are people drinking tomorrow? We're thinking of having a couple round Liverpool st and then getting the overground to Northumberland Park.
Graffito Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Where are people drinking tomorrow? We're thinking of having a couple round Liverpool st and then getting the overground to Northumberland Park. Hamilton Hall, the Wetherspoons on the street level concourse of Liverpool St will be open early. Other pubs may be midday opening.
musesaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Really want to smash Spurs... But with all our injuries I have a bad feeling about today and I'm much less confident than I was a week ago
sambosa75 Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Anyone travelling up with spare tickets? I am in London already. Had prior plans but they've been cancelled. Ideally need 2. Cheers. 07729122407.

Saint Charlie Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Adebayor could be out apparantly which would appear good news.

igsey Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Good starting line up, glad to see Cork and JWP back. Bench looks a little lacking.
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Good starting line up, glad to see Cork and JWP back. Bench looks a little lacking. Only 2 players missing, and I doubt Guly being there would make you change your mind? Gallagher and Ramirez can both be game changers and if the management trust Reed then so should we.
nta786 Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Definitely a team capable of grabbing something today! JWP has massive shoes to fill though, MS is core to our pressing and dictating. COYS
Chez Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Shame Dembele is back for them. He is a very good player.

Oh, I don't doubt that's the best bench we can do, and I'll trust the management with the players I haven't seen much of... But should Boruc or one of the CBs get injured/sent off, I will be quietly changing into my brown trousers. Some shopping needed in summer is all I'm saying.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Bit worried Cork is being rushed back while still hurt and not fit. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Yoshida is more than capable, and Hooiveld has performed in the past when he isn't getting overawed.
Saint Charlie Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Need a good start. They have quite a few confidence players in the midfield and catch them on a good day and they are very dangerous. Both full backs poor defensively though. Hope this isn't the day Soldado shows why Spurs paid 27m for him!
Olallana Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 I dont know why but I really dislike Verthongen.....it´s something about the way he behave and posture himself during games that makes me dislike him...
nta786 Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 This would suggest a 4-3-3? Sky Sports were suggesting a 442!
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Great interview with the four Saints England lads on Sky.
John Boy Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Great interview with the four Saints England lads on Sky. No prima donnas there, great advert for the club.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Is MS injured or suspended? Injured, hip flexor, could be just a knock or a strain, no doubt Canal + will inform me of which later on, they talk to him a lot.
austsaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Good starting line up, glad to see Cork and JWP back. Bench looks a little lacking. Hate to sound negative but why are you glad to see JWP back? I hope he proves me wrong and plays a blinder.
Jimmy_D Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Great interview with the four Saints England lads on Sky. Aye, enjoyed that
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 March, 2014 Author Posted 23 March, 2014 Wanyama injured again? Is he turing into a Darren Anderton?
igsey Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Is MS injured or suspended? Injury to a pelvic muscle, I believe.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 23 March, 2014 Posted 23 March, 2014 Wanyama injured again? Is he turing into a Darren Anderton? I'm not really willing to put someone in that bracket who broke their leg (and played on) and then suffered a setback in their comeback game
