The Cat Posted 15 March, 2014 Share Posted 15 March, 2014 Luke wants to stay and the club have no intention of selling him. Source? Family member in his age group at the club. Relax everyone, we're going to see Shaw develop at Saints over the next few seasons. He recognises he can improve a lot and Southampton provide the best environment for that. Seriously guys, don't underestimate the high moral at the club now. Behind the scenes the work the Club are doing to turn the Lodge/ Staplewood etc into our own "La Macia" with a family feel is incredibly important. Apparently on England duty it's more a case of others asking about life at SFC than the other way round. Personally I predict he'll leave after Euro '16 for big money to whoever he wants to go to (his commitment to us will be rewarded with us helping him move to the right club, not necessarily the one that pays the most and not necessarily Chelsea) unless we are in the Champions League ourselves. I'm sorry, but as exciting and amazing as your post is it can't be true because further up this thread someone who has absolutely zero knowledge of Luke's thoughts or the clubs desire to sell him stated "he will clearly go to Chelsea this summer" And because he said it first it must be true. Saint Charlie Posted 15 March, 2014 Share Posted 15 March, 2014 Happy days! But further up you said Chelsea is a done deal? Which is it?
View From The Top Posted 15 March, 2014 Share Posted 15 March, 2014 But further up you said Chelsea is a done deal? Which is it? Agreement of fee I've been told about (perhaps it's a 1st refusal thing between the clubs) but fingers crossed that he stays for a very, very long time. I know Jackanory so if he says it kosher then I believe him.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 March, 2014 Share Posted 15 March, 2014 Lets hope so. I can't see beyond him joining Chelsea this summer. Its all fits. Cole coming to the end. Mourinho desire to spend. Club needing to sign home grown players as Lampard, Terry and Cole come to the end of their careers...and Shaw being an exceptional talent who all the top clubs want. Getting him would be a major boost for Chelsea over their rivals. Of course I would love him to stay, and Im sure he is happy here. But the promise of CL football and playing for your home club under a Manager like Mourinho and with a team of world stars would be hard to resist surely? Plus, we have no idea how the new structure would view it. They might see a certain offer as being too good to turn down. Lets hope he stays but for certain he and the club will have multiple offers this summer and it will be hard to keep him IMO.
Toadhall Saint Posted 15 March, 2014 Share Posted 15 March, 2014 Luke will go where he wants to go. Just depends on when and how much for. I do not think he is going anywhere next season other than SFC same as llana tbh. All IMHO
St_Tel49 Posted 16 March, 2014 Share Posted 16 March, 2014 (edited) I would say that he is better than Ashley Cole, actually. Cole doesn't even play for Chelsea anymore, it's Azpilucueta (sp?) I think he'd also get into the Man Utd team ahead of Evra (if not immediately, within the next season for sure), and Liverpool too. I reckon if Saints show a lot of ambition and determination to keep him, it looks and sounds as if Shaw is happy here at the moment, so I'm hopeful he will be here for another season. Lallana is the one I couldn't bare to see playing in another team's kit. It feels like he's one of us! This I agree with. If AL were to go I would not want it to be a Premiership rival. Big bucks and to Barca or Real only! Edited 16 March, 2014 by St_Tel49
david in sweden Posted 17 March, 2014 Share Posted 17 March, 2014 http://mobile.newsnow.co.uk/A/701461201?-11205:798: Take it with pinch of salt. purely a " space filler" on the horoscope page, because they can't sell anymore advertising space. angelman Posted 17 March, 2014 Share Posted 17 March, 2014 Funny that the main sporting press in this country don't have a whiff of this "exclusive" story
