is Europa League beyond us ?

looks like we may have to settle for 8th or 9th position anyway, but interestingly .......5 of the remaining 9 fixtures are against the teams directly above us in the League.

putting together a string of good results could make a world of difference before we meet Man.U at the end of the season? Anyone know the odds?

From our 11 wins this season, 8 of those wins have come from us doing the double over four teams (Fulham, WBA, Hull and Crystal Palace)...

As GS said, we have only beaten one team in the top ten.

Personally, European football won't come this season... Unless we see a massive change around...and well next season? It all depends on what happens in the summer IMO.

I'm not sure the title should be "Is the Europa league beyond us".....more "do we want Europa football next season".....personally i think our current squad is too thin of quality to compete both in the premiership and the Europa league. We have a very strong 15 players at best and then we are paper thin. I'm sure Saints have looked at other clubs that have qualified for Europa league that have similar squad depths as us and seen them struggle...Fulham and Swansea spring to mind. Forget what the fans want, and i'm sure we all want to see Saints playing in Europe BUT i don't think we are ready for it and our attitude towards the cups would seem to back this up. Just my opinion.

Yep!

Anyway MP doesn't do half-way house, the fixtures attract zero attendance and knacker his kids so PL form dips.

Assume best case scenario now with Citeh out of the FA Cup is 6th place would qualify (previous 7th was possible if Citeh played Arse in the FA Cup Final and both qualified for CL). if so we have no chance, 7th or 8th is possible, but 6th would be most likely beyond us.

We really would not be prepared for Europa league anyway, you need a much bigger, stronger squad than we have to compete in the EL. We would be looking at bringing in best part of a whole new team to support a EL campaign, as it is we probably need to add 5 or 6 for next season if we are to avoid the mid-season injury crisis provoked drop in form that has condemned us to upper mid-table obscurity this term.

I suspect we are already a hell of a lot closer than most people thought we would be before the season started.
Not really, most people I know thought we'd be comfortably mid table, which is what we are. If anything, most would have assumed we'd have a good go at the cups and a chance of Europe through that, but we all know how that turned out, so let's not go down that road again.
