eurosaint Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 TBF, an Italian international striker for £2mil does not sound bad to me as long as he is not a nutcase who headbutts his team mates !! TB (equally) F, I've never heard of the geezer !

nta786 Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 Lol, why is he already being written off? Good footballer. He is a average footballer in a slow league... As weve seen, not many Serie A players adapt to the Premier League (only the young players and even then- they don't all make it in the Prem!) Not only this, but he is 31. I'd rather invest in someone in their prime, not a has been who might not even make it.

Yes, it's not the standard is used to be but I bet aside from City, Chelsea or Arsenal, most of their "average" teams would run rings around a lot of teams in our league. Oh, and he's got 25 caps... not sure if you could call him "average"...
buctootim Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 Its probably as a makeweight in a deal taking Osvaldo off our hands - so we should welcome him with open arms.

Oh, and he's got 25 caps... not sure if you could call him "average"... I meant as in average now. I'm sure he was good in his prime. He might add experience, but apart from that, nothing more. He might be a better option than Rickie, but I'd rather invest in young players or players in their prime... As for those 25 caps, he had those around 2008/09... He has only made one international apperance in the last four years mate.
DrunkenSaint Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 Why do we seem to be linking with players from Italy, our style suits the Spanish/South American leagues that's where we should be looking even if it's just paper talk.

Cortese better be prepared to spend on a striker or we shall suffer. Van Wolfswinkel, Hooper and now Quagliarella, good good signings, are they going for a top 4 spot instead of us? This time last year Quagliarella would have been a rock solid signing for us apparently, however this year he wouldn't, without having kicked a ball in the league.
