Sour Mash Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 Yes, Forren was a mistake, but would you not agree Osvaldo, Wanyama and Lovren are all better players than merely relegation dogfighters? Osvaldo seemingly failed as a signing not because of his footballing ability, he isn't relegation team material quality. The scouting team I mentioned has also played a key role in taking the club from 68th in 2009 to 9th in England in 2014. Every club makes the odd recruitment mistake, but I think you should put some more trust in the club's recruitment structure than you seemingly currently do. How many gems has our scouting network really picked out unexpectedly? It's a tough ask, but I don't think our scouting network has particularly stood out as impressive over the last few years. BARCELONASAINT Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 City not having a good week lol. Nice to see MP there, i think that shows his committment to be there for this game at the tail end of the season. Looks very promising that he will stay. oldskoolsi Posted 11 March, 2014 Share Posted 11 March, 2014 TBH......all those people saying he was sure to be off in the summer were basing that on what exactly? Every interview Pochettino has seemed committed and talking about the future, etc. Hopefully he will sign an extended contract and we will buy 3/4 players that will move our progression on further. If we had clinical strikers (like SRL used to be) I am convinced we would be in 5th/6th place I based my opinion he was going to be off in the summer on the grounds that he said he would leave if NC left. Yes he said he changed his mind but whose to say he wont change it again in the summer.

Saint Jude Posted 12 March, 2014 Share Posted 12 March, 2014 I know people are starting to question some of his decisions.... But it's very obvious what the young players think of him... And any certainty over the club structure/management can only encourage players to stay... At least for a while, whilst they believe that we're still building towards something.... Greenridge Posted 14 March, 2014 Share Posted 14 March, 2014 @bigadamsport: #saintsfc MP says talks on his own future can wait - "My focus is on our season. Don't forget I have a year left on my current contract". I'm sure that can be interpreted in many ways but my reading would be he's pretty relaxed about it, he's focussing his efforts on the team not on a new contract and in any case he's got a year left that he will be honouring regardless. In saying that, I'll be pleasantly surprised if he is with us by the start of the 2014/15 season however.

Turkish Posted 14 March, 2014 Share Posted 14 March, 2014 Not understanding your comment Okay I'll spell it out for you. It was claimed on here when we lost in the FA cup at Sunderland that MP is on a bonus for finishing 8th or above, hence why he 'threw' the Sunderland game, or that was the implication. Turns out the source was someone putting it on Facebook. Understand now?

beatlesaint Posted 23 March, 2014 Share Posted 23 March, 2014 First Lambert and then Boruc have spoken about MP and the contract he should be given, Boruc even hinting that it will be sooner rather than later. I think if you consider how hush hush the club used to be on this kind of thing all the non too subtle hints coming out (Kruger actually being asked about it in an interview posted on the OS) at present suggest to me anyway that we may get some good news on that front in the next few weeks ! Hopefully a negotiating tactic, rather than his mind already being made up. Monaco ? I don't think MP has really done enough to warrant a job like that, but from his position, his "stock" has probably never been higher. My gut feeling remains that I don't expect MP to be here next season.

The bloke who told me that is one of the youth team coaches at Barca and knows MP and the coaches from the Espanol connection...that is what he told me about a month ago..but he did say that the nature of what he has been asked to achieve has changed various times this season which has added some uncertainty from Mps point of view... it may all be bo llocks but am just passing on what i have been told... my mate seemed certain that he would be continuing at Saints for the time being unless he got an offer from a top club... MP staying will provide stability and encourage players to stay, but it won't necessarily ensure they do. Perhaps irrelevant, but is it more important that MP or Shaw is still here come September?
