Lallana's Left Peg Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Would be absolutely brilliant news if true.
Sour Mash Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Would all his back room staff get new contracts as well, or are they just left to negotiate separately?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Great news.... Fingers crossed he signs Would be a huge boost
washsaint Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 TBH......all those people saying he was sure to be off in the summer were basing that on what exactly? Every interview Pochettino has seemed committed and talking about the future, etc. Hopefully he will sign an extended contract and we will buy 3/4 players that will move our progression on further. If we had clinical strikers (like SRL used to be) I am convinced we would be in 5th/6th place
Leslie Charteris Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Would all his back room staff get new contracts as well, or are they just left to negotiate separately? I would think that MP is free to choose his assistants.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 I would think that MP is free to choose his assistants. His is fiercely loyal at a personnel level. They'd all be getting new deals too. Be interesting to see if his new deal entails any further responsibility, particularly in the transfer market. I do wonder sometimes what sort of players he'd like at a personal level for his system.

Always makes me wonder how and why these things get in the press before they're done, or not done.
Sour Mash Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 (edited) I would think that MP is free to choose his assistants. Yeah, I know that, was just wondering if the deal would be negotiated as one whole package for all of them or he gets sorted and their's get done as and when. Doesn't really matter, I just realised I don't know how that side of football works. Potentially good news for the club, would be good to have it all signed and sealed before the end of the season. washsaint Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 no s**t shurlock! That is why I posted 'hopefully he will sign'.
Graffito Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 no s**t shurlock! That is why I posted 'hopefully he will sign'. I know what you said. The point I'm making is that I'd have preferred that it hadn't come out in the press now before he's signed.
Dark Munster Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Hopefully the new contract will have a big bonus for progress in each round of the FA Cup.
Saint Charlie Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 Will be the best signing of 2014 if he stays, and should help to keep some of our better players at the Club. Really is important to keep him. You don't do well by losing Managers of his quality.
eelpie Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 The Telegraph knows nothing. SFC doesn't have a manager. MoPo is First Team Coach. According to Les Read.
John Boy Saint Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 He hasn't signed yet. Always makes me wonder how and why these things get in the press before they're done, or not done. Simples! It's his agent baiting the hook and dangling it in the water to see if there are any other clubs willing to show any interest with a bigger pay cheque to take a slice of.
buctootim Posted 10 March, 2014 Posted 10 March, 2014 What was his body language like on Saturday? The way he moved his hands looked like he was visualising signing.
DuncanRG Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 We generally don't leak things until they're close to going public anyway. Exciting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RonManager Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 What was his body language like on Saturday? Well you can tell by the way he used his walk, he's a woman's man, with no time to talk.
Wiggles31 Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Would state Katrina's intent if he signed. We honestly have one of the most talented coaches in europe right now.
Leslie Charteris Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 KL & MP - the dream team for the next few years at SFC.
thefuriousb Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Hopefully the new contract will have a big bonus for progress in each round of the FA Cup. Can't believe it took until post #16 for this to be dropped in. Even more surprising that it wasn't dropped by certain other posters
ToreSF Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Good news if true, but as he self has pointed out before: contracts means very little in football, especially when it comes to managers.
Cascadia Saint Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Great news....? Fingers crossed he signs? Would be a huge boost? Fixed it for you. Better get your shift key fixed.
trousers Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Can't believe it took until post #16 for this to be dropped in. Even more surprising that it wasn't dropped by certain other posters And no "lazy lying scumbag journos etc" yet either....
doddisalegend Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 good news if true. Football is in a world of it's own though MP is on a million a year and we need to offer him more to stay blimey.
wild-saint Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Great news.... Fingers crossed he signs Would be a huge boost has someone hacked your account? thats a turn around and a half.
Turkish Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 The Telegraph knows nothing. SFC doesn't have a manager. MoPo is First Team Coach. According to Les Read. He's nothing more than a head of department FACT
Goatboy Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Great news.... Fingers crossed he signs Would be a huge boost :lol:
Turkish Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Would state Katrina's intent if he signed. We honestly have one of the most talented coaches in europe right now. Indeed. You'd think he'd have been given reassurances of transfer funds and keeping players if he signs so very positive.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 has someone hacked your account? thats a turn around and a half. No turnaround. Praise when you can (as i do) but not unconditionally We have been on a poor run 4 wins in 18 + 2 x cup knockouts.... I cant praise to much during that period. But mopo has shown some signs of greatness and continuity is important imho Would be a huge boost + a signal to me that KL is here longterm

CB Fry Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Baz, we've done this a million times before. You should know how it works by now. Pretty soon Franks cousin will be on here to tell you in a succinct, top point summary in 2000 words post exactly why 'hte' good new stories are gospel truth and why anything negative is lies. I look forward to not reading his nuanced analysis.

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 I would just like to place on record that if this is true I am very genuinely pleased.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 But what about his win percentage? And his body language? Win % has not been the best - you'd agree? But he has shown potnetial and i like the style of football we play. His body language? Not the best, but then he hasnt signed a new contract yet If negotiations have been dragging on a month, hes not exactly jumping to sign and commit his fiture to saints forever. Perhaps the offer on the table is dictating his body language?

Saint Bones Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Would be very happy if this is true... Maybe, just maybe would help keep the core of the team together as they have all been praising MoPo during the season
JoeShmoe Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 If true, you'd like to think KL has told him that were prepared to knock back the incoming offers for half our first team, and invest for next season I want to believe this is true but contracts mean F*** all in football sadly. When Sherwood gets booted by Levy, Poch will be in the top two to get that job
Fan The Flames Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 This is no surprise really, he wasn't just going to walk out if a job in top flight football. I suspect there will be suitors in the summer knocking on the door, back in Spain and may be Spurs. It's going to be an interesting summer.

When Sherwood gets booted by Levy, Poch will be in the top two to get that job According to some reports Spurs have already agreed to bring van Gaal in, so he's come second.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Would be excellent news if he signs up IMO. If the player interviews are to be believed, they seem to hold him in high regard and enjoy working for him. I'm pretty sure I've read Schneiderlin, Shaw and Lallana talk him up in recent months and any hope of convincing them to stay in the summer could depend on him staying too.
Greenridge Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Daily Mail linking him to Spurs again today as Sherwood's tenure seems to be drawing to a close.
SaintRichmond Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 It wasn't the stella 0-1 away win on Saturday? I think that the "stella" 0-1 away win v "Stoke Mk II ", was a VERY good result
fanimal Posted 11 March, 2014 Posted 11 March, 2014 Double edged sword fellow ST Holders - if the best players resist the mega bucks from up the M3 or M6 then under the FFP rules our prices for next season will be much higher, well above RPI I would suggest. To keep them I would be happy to pay.
