Would you swap positions with Hull?

Dark Munster

In the Would you swap with Sunderland thread I leaned no, too much risk of relegation. Definitely wouldn't swap with them now. :D

But how about Hull? Would you swap our 9th and 99.999999% safe, with their semi-final against a third tier side, but not safe from relegation (5 points clear with 10 games left)?

Note, swap positions/cup only. Same manager, squad, academy etc.

No. We've had a great season, we're going in the right direction. Sheffield United have beaten PL opposition in previous rounds so they're not nailed on to beat them and even if they get past them they'll still either have to play Arsenal or the reigning FA Cup holders.

I'll keep things as they are cheers.

Why would any Saints supporter swap with any other club?

We are Saints.....our time will come again...2016 FA Cup for starters.

Believe in your own team.

Let Hull have their day..

I love my team but we always fail to win, one trophy in well over a 100 years is a poor return for a club our size, no one can say we support our team for glory as we dont have any for a medium sized English club bar 1976, the facts and space in the trophy cabinet speak for itself, fans can become holier than thou over what exactly constitutes success and what price are you prepared to pay for it detracts from the painful truth is that we have vastly underachieved as a team and even when we have had an opportunity to play for it we never grasp it or give it 100% so the question is do we really deserve it?

To answer the question again..Would I swap positions with Hull?

NO I WOULD NOT..........EVEN IF THEY WERE IN THE FINAL...

From 1956/7 season.....My Dad took me to the Dell......hook line and sinker..

Trophies are a bonus.....League , Cup etc.....Lovely rewarding days out...even when we lost at Wembley...

Good luck to teams left in FA Cup..

Our time will come again...

Until then Saints forever and not even hypothetical swap....NO CHANCE.

COYS:)

still concerned regarding some of my fellow posters wanting to give my our club and players away..

continually running DOWN the owners , management and players down.......CONTINUALLY:(

Yes, we could have done better in certain games....but thats life... as a football supporter...especially Saints.

Those particular fake forum users should go back to Pompey or wherever they came from..

WUMs, taking the pish or just Saints detractors..........FLLLUCK OFF:p

100% this!!

I don't support Saints because they have a better percentage return on cups/titles per season - I support them because they're my team - in my blood, soul, heart or whatever - sure I love it when we play beautiful football (tick), get promoted (tick), win cups (tick) but I also supported them when they have been relegated (tick), knocked out of the cup (tick) and have played dire football (rarer tick)....the defining word is support! My timespan is much the same as the man from Ottery...I've experienced the ups and the downs

Plenty of people local and less so are entitled to be critical...they're not Saints supporters - it beggars belief that on a Saints forum we should have to endure skate viewpoints - would they turn up at the Chapel Arms and spout what they do here? Not a flucking chance in hell - what does that tell you?

Let me think about this.

Hull based oop north where the weather is always ****e. Only good thing about the place is a rather splendid example of bridge building. A football team who are & will be perennial strugglers whose realistic place is as a good Championship side, ala Reading.

Where as THE MIGHTY SAINTS are the greatest exponents of the beautiful game, the team who brought football to Brasil ( who still wear a kit similar to our best away kit) and are able to boast some of the best players ever to play in England! (okay maybe not that last point). A team based in the beautiful south where as Hull had a band called the beautiful south. A team whose only FA cup win was so important that even the hot weather decided to stay around for a very long time to celebrate.

so on the whole No I do not want to swap places with Hull!

How do you define this ? Are we bigger than Middlesborough, ( 1 cup win ) ? QPR, ( 1 cup win ) ? Or even Hull, ( no major trophies ) ? You need to remember we have spent at least half of those 100 years in the lower divisions, and most of our top flight years were at the Dell.

Yes, we are bigger than those clubs. What does it matter that we spent so long at the Dell?

A textbook example of how to miss the point of a question.

In the last 50 years bigger than all mentioned.

I'm trying to gauge how we measure 'a club our size' - is it catchment area, years in the top flight, or financial clout ( hence the Dell reference ).

What way do you want to gauge as no matter what way you try to do it we have not won as much as we should have for a club our size, suggest a way to gauge it for arguments sake.

Yes id swap with Hull 100% - they are one point off 10th place and have booked at least one trip to Wembley

Fantastic season for them - just hope they don’t get relegated as a consequence (this season or next)

That's the best news I have heard all day. Here is the link for their website http://www.ambernectar.org/phpBB3/ Now go and annoy them lot and tell them how poor they are multiple times you boring pr1ck.

bye then xx

Say Hull finish 10th and win the FA CUP and we finish 9th. No I would not swap. League is more important.

Oh Dalek. You and your made - up opinions are just so funny. You have me in stitches, you really do.

Do your Hoddle stuff. Or pretend you think we are "sleepwalking to relegation". The laughs never stop.

Sadly for you CB Fry, your credibility is so shot that no-one takes you at all seriously these days, but I am glad that you are amused.

I am still angry we didn't go all out to try and win the competition but the view is slightly clouded (especially with foreign owners) by the vast amounts of money each position in the league generates. I wouldn't be surprised if MoPo's bonuses were solely dependent on league position. Until they start offering a Champions League place for winning the FA Cup, then I suspect that will not change. Always next year though!!

We're a provincial club, and most media pundits hold that view - a suitable peg on which to hang such tags as 'plucky', 'honest', and 'hard working', ( hopefully we've moved on from 'struggling' and 'relegation threatened' ). To my mind Saints are of similar 'size' to Stoke and Derby, so do you think Stoke haven't won as much as they should have ? Certainly Derby did well to win their 2 league titles in the 70's, but their recent history isn't much to write home about.

IMHO people claiming to be Saints fans should never want to swap with other teams just because

they might then get to Wembley. What next for those that do then? They might as well openly admit

to being skates as the skates obtained the FA Cup at Wembley a few years ago.

Ottery my dad took me to the Dell as a six year old but in 1954 so I am really old :(
