Personally think the club have thrown away the perfect chance to not only reach an fa cup semi, but also the final. Hull had a home draw against Sunderland but also a 3rd tier team at Wembley in the semi. Man. Ity are in the pro ess of losing at home to Wigan 2-0 at time of writing and are on the other side of the draw for the final anyway. Worst case outcome had we bothered to try vs Sunderlands second string was a final vs arsenal as the bare minimum.

Once again I am fuming..

If MoPo really wanted Europe it was there on a plate, with a proper cup final and a chance to avenge 2003.

He's either lying or awful at squad rotation.. not that a 10day rest did our players any good agaist west ham.... Or Liverpool.

Ah well, at least we can enjoy 8th/9th hey guys!

Yes - could have won it, but could possibly have f^cked it up at Hull or v Sheff Utd.

Great shame.

But we'll never know.

We will have the last laugh..... When Hull are relegated!!

Foolish of them to try and juggle league and cup

Would i swap with Hull? Point off 10th + semi final + wembley vs 9th. No way!! Wouldnt swap 9th for anything

Those saying they wont and cant get over it need to have a long hard look at themselves and adjust their priorities in life. What bloody bedwetters!

Pure arrogance. The fact of the matter is that we have been unable to beat Sunderland all season, with or without our best available team. We'd have had to win that one, and then beat Hull away and then won another game and then another one. Meanwhile you dredge up your little stats like 5 wins in 22 or whatever number suits your agenda and then conveniently forget that we'd need to win 4 out of 4 to win the cup. Yeh we ****ed up at Sunderland, it happens, Man City just lost at home to Wigan, it happens. Get the **** over it, stop posting the same old **** hour after hour day after day and get a ****ing life!

I am just glad we can concentrate on the League - it's so important we hold onto 9th, I gather we may even get presented a cup!

Next year we should enter our U12s for the league Cup and our U15s for the FA Cup and let the head tea lady handle all the pressers!

How about this for a novel idea.... those that are distraught about us "throwing away" our cup chances this season stay distraught and those who are more ambivalent about us going out of the cup stay ambivalent.

Just a thought.

That's pretty easy to organise as absolutely no one alive is 'distraught' about our FA Cup exit. No one.

Apologies. Swap "distraught" for "angry".

This is a good idea. I think I may start an 'I've moved on, how about you thread?'.

I won't ever condone giving up on the cup, it is a huge missed chance and I have no idea what the point is in entering either cup while MP is manager.

BUT, let's not pretend the draw or results would have been the same if we'd beaten Sunderland.

Hope Arsenal mess it up. Be great to see a non-Prem side win it.

If Wenger cocks this up he should be sacked frankly.

As per giving up on the cup what a ton of crap

That's it, get his book out of that ****ing shop again.

The white van has just arrived apparently.

OK I am flogging a dead horse but the fact dead horses are being flogged shows just how little there is for us all to fall out about. Thank God there is a World Cup looming with hopefully 4 Saints involved.

Funny how those that really "dont care" or moved on months ago, like to tell everyone how theyve moved on and dont care.

Why even open a thread called could we have won the cup.... If youre soooo sick of reading about it?

I do not want the disappointment of losing in the semi.

I do not want the disappointment of losing in the final

I do not want to win the cup, see us enter Europe with too small a squad and end up being relegated next season because we spread ourselves too thin.

Look at Wigan, Swansea, Birmingham and other before.

WE ARE NOT YET READY FOR EUROPE. We need to build an experienced squad over the next few years to give us a fighting chance.

Yes I was disappointed with our loss at Sunderland but I had got ove it by the evening. Life is so much more.

Fall out about ?!

We have an excellent team of quality young players, a progressive head coach, great academy, and 9th in the league (we were doomed just 5 yrs ago)

So yes, just what have we got to fall out about ? Unless of course some just cant help going a few days without an arguement about something

Couldn't give a **** about being ready Europe, just wanted to see my club actually win something for a change.

This is rapidly going to turn into the identical thread that the mods moved earlier. The same group of people trying to get one up on each other on something that happened nearly a month ago. Ridiculous to start it again here, may as well take it to the Muppet Show and leave it there.

Muppets.

Worse than the 'Hoddle' obsession, Jeez.

Spare a thought for Sunderland, their clear route to the final was stopped by Hull. Or for City, who had their quadruple hopes crushed by Wigan. Then there's Man Utd, who surely should have done better than the Third Round?

Yes, we could have done better, but it's the fact we're gutted, rather than resigned, that shows the progress we've made, rather than the stage we went out or the draw we would have had.

Nothing we can do about what's happened except use it to drive us on to do better next year.

I think the ones that aren't bothered that we're out of the competition are likely to be people that don't watch us much or at all in person.

Not so, 44 years home and away and a season ticket holder for 25 years, not bragging just suggesting that you are wide of the mark with your comment
