Norwich Build Up

Norwich are awful so I am fully expecting us to tear them a new one. Other than Redmond I cannot see them posing a threat whatsoever. Clyne and Shaw more than capable of dealing with him so unless we have an absolute stinker I think a 3-0 win is on the cards. Wanyama, Lambert and Jrod to score.

Is Snodgrass fit? He always seems to score against us, he's like shane long but without the nasty streak.

I think Snodgrass is a piece of work myself. One of those players where you can only see their constant lip and attitude when you watch them in the flesh.

Anyway, no excuses not to win this game. Norwich can't score to save their lives. The last time they scored more than once in a game was in early December, and the only time before that was on the opening day of the season.

I was at the norwich game last season at SMS, he stuck away the equaliser under Gazza from a freekick. One of those players who always seems to do well against us.

Norwich haven't scored more than one goal in ages, in fact only twice this whole season in the league and one of those was the first game of the season.

They rely heavily on set pieces to get their goals.

Bassong has been terrible lately.

These are the ways we beat Norwich, restrict their set pieces, attack Bassong and score 2 or more goals.

Hughton is a poor manager, they're in real danger of relegation this year. Just look at their last 4 fixtures of the season. They need to be safe by then...

Needless to say, Norwich will park the bus. Do we have what it takes to break their defence down?

I think so. 9-0 please.

With Cork out for a few weeks and Wanyama a doubt, I'd start Davis or JWP alongside Schneiderlin and give Gaston a go ahead of them

Agreed, here is a sneak preview of the match thread on Saturday :

Time for Ramirez to step up

****ing useless get rid of him

Gashton gives it away AGAIN

What is the point of Gaston Ramirez

Waste of 12m

Get the **** in Ramirez!

(Repeat)

I've not seen any of the interviews myself, Is Wanyama likely to actually be out?

Looks like Harrison Reed is playing for the Under 21s today, so won't be used as cover for the first team tomorrow.

Would it be over ambitious to ask Schneiderlin to play in front of the back 4 to protect them and bring in Ramirez as his CM more advanced partner?

I would pick:

---------------------------------------Boruc-------------------------------------------------

Clyne---------------------Fonte--------------------Lovren------------------------Shaw

---------------------------Davis-------------------Schneiderlin--------------------------

Lallana----------------------------Ramirez-------------------------------Rodriguez

-----------------------------------Lambert---------------------------------------------

Norwich's away form, with just two wins in 14 league games this season, is poor and they are one of the teams I am most worried about at the bottom of the Premier League.

For me, Fulham and Cardiff are in the deepest trouble but the Canaries are too brittle for my liking.

They can collapse very easily and they rely too heavily on picking up points at Carrow Road.

After this weekend, Norwich play four teams around them - Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom and Fulham.

They have got to take the points they need in that run of games otherwise they might find themselves in the relegation zone in the final few weeks of the season.

Norwich's run-in after that looks horrible on paper - they play Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in their final four games of the season - but there are other factors that could come into play.

We don't know what will have happened in the league by then. It could all have been sorted out in terms of the title and the top four and, on the final weekend of the Premier League season, the Gunners might be distracted or rest players for the FA Cup final if they are in it.

Southampton have little to play for in terms of league position but the key thing for me is that they have a few players fighting to get in the England squad for the World Cup. That will mean they will be busting a gut to get a win.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Fair play to Norwich fans, 2000+ when your away form is as poor as theirs has been is a terrific effort and with a large exile base in London and the £22 price, they may get a significant walk up support tomorrow if they are allowed to buy on the day. Fer missing probably cancels out Cork and Victor missing, could create an opportunity for Chambers in his preferred area of the pitch. The first goal is even more important when you playing sides at the bottom, if they get it their tails are up and they have something to protect. If we get it, they have had a habit of crumbling like they did at Villa and City and conceding 2 or 3 more preventable goals. Hughton has been under a lot of pressure from their supporters and that excellent travelling support could turn quite quickly if Saints establish an early advantage and a heavy defeat could mean sack.

The team for me......

Cork and Wanyama injured...

Would love to see Chambers in Midfield second half.

and 3 points to the mighty Saints.

4-0 pleeeese

4 up top rotate etc ...no worries re set positions.

We've had players play on Friday for the under 21's at Staplewood and then appear on the bench at St Mary's the following day this season. Why not again?

Fair enough, wasn't aware that players play on Friday and then are in the squad on Sat as a regular occurance.

Would raise an interesting point if someone like Lambert got injured after 5mins - not sure you could expect Gallagher say to play 45 + 85 on consecutive days.

Either pick him fresh for the first team squad or give him 90mins in the U21s. Or both if you scheduled the U21s games better.

Its a bit silly to have an U21s game on the day before a league game. Would have thought with the injuries that Reed might get a bench spot too, but if he played 90 today then surely he wouldn't.

Gallagher has been subbed off at HT as well...

we prefer to say "pulled off" on saintsweb forum pls.

I reckon the naarch canaries of nofuck are gonna get raped this sat. With shit team and shit manager and shit form they're positively asking for it, which i spose will be our defence in court if the rape gets reported.

No Victor or Jack means having play around with midfield. I wonder if that means the surprise inclusion of Guly, who is supposed to be an attacking midfielder, playing in front of Morgan and Davis? I guess JWP is the obvious replacement though there is always a chance of Gaston managing 90 minutes I suppose.

Wanyama being doubtful again is of concern, he's not really looked "right" since he came back and the chipped bone obviously hasn't healed up perfectly as of yet. I do wonder about Wanyama sometimes, with his apparent bulk you'd expect him to be a bit of a heavyweight but according to the OS he's just a kg heavier than Morgan so I'd be led to suspect that he might have a bit of a fragile bone structure.

Still no doubt we'll put out a team capable of beating Norwich, I'd really like to see Chambers go forward a notch with Clyne at RB, don't think it will happen though, expect JWP or Davis to partner Morgan.

You are jumping to a lot of assumptions there. Pochettino said Wanyama had a knock in training to the same part of his leg he injured previously. Doesn't mean he has a "fragile bone structure" or is injury prone. I think most people wouldn't be good after taking knock to the part of your leg that has only just recovered from a hairline fracture!

Shaw to score this game

he is getting close lately

He's got the incentive now. Free meal at TGIF if he does.

Doubt it. Guly's being rested for the semi-final, along with JWP, Kelvin and Jos.

I missed the Palace game last week so will be good to be back at Saints

hopefully to see us win which I think we will 2/3-0 I hope and hopefully

Fulham will do us a favour by beating AP and Newcastle who is our next

home game after Spurs as am thinking that we should maybe go for the

Europa league next season but who knows with Saints....!!! :D

I see Gallagher was subbed at half time in the development teams game so I expect he will be on the bench today. I'd like to see Ramirez start and would personally prefer jwp to Davis with Morgan, but think the boss will play it a bit safer with either jwp or Ramirez benched. I imagine it will be something like

Boruc

Clyne Fonte lovren shaw

Jwp Morgan Davis

Lallana srl Jrod

Subs Davis, chambers, maya, wanyama, Ramirez, guly, Gallagher

If wanyama was completely out of the reckoning I doubt reed would have played the whole game for the development team but we shall see.

Saints to win by a couple coys
