Norwich Build Up

I doubt Cork will play.

Adam Blackmore@bigadamsport 4m

Pochettino worried that Cork could be out for a period of time but waiting for usual assessments to be sure #saintsfc

Doubts over Lovren as well, both left ground on crutches and protective boots.

Sheeeeeet.

VW in then with hopefully some better passing. He really needs to pick this up.

Now safety is secured (not that there were any worries), Gaston, Gallagher, JWP, and Wanyama could all do with some game time for their development, while Rickie is clearly in need of a bit of a rest to enhance his form ahead of WC.

With Cork most probably out injured vs. Norwich, wouldn't mind seeing this side out next Sat - assuming they will set up quite defensively:

------------J-Rod---------

---Lallana--Gaston---JWP

-------Morgan--Vic-------

Shaw--Lovren-Fonte--Chambers

-----------Boruc----------

Bring Gallagher on for last 30 when coasting at 2-0, to smash in his first PL goal.

Last game I went to was Stoke at home... So hoping for a good result :)

Same team as today...

this really is a game we should we winning. I'm feeling optimistic too...

3-1 Saints... Lallana, Lambert x2 (J Rod hardly scores at home!) and Snodgrass or Hooper will get their goal...

Just love looking forward to a home game next week on a Saturday night after an away win, just want it to be tomorrow, bring it on!

Sounds like it will be back to the perfect 11 that did so well earlier on, but feel sorry for Jack, get well soon.

Bet he plays Chambers at home though.

Our home form needs to improve. I think we should have more than enough to win this one, just got to attack from the off.

Not much choice but to play:

Boruc

Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw

Morgan, Wanyama

Davis, Lallana, Jrod

Lambert.

Ramirez on with plenty of time to make an impact.

May see Chambers instead of Clyne but apart from that, agree.

Same as yesterday but Wanyama in for Cork if he's not fit.

Would start Clyne against Redmond. Have to be aware of Snodgrass the diving pr!ck but should have more than enough to beat these lot. They're not very good and going down. Great opportunity to get back to wining ways at home

3-0 Saints

Yeah might do. I seem to remember Chambers allowing Redmond to come inside to score at Carrow Road. Saying that' date=' he did have JWP playing in front of him and he's come a long way since then.[/quote']

Yep roasted chambers. Clyne should play. That back six is immense.

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH (the 15th March).

Remember our man Luke Shaw & Julius Caesar share the same birth date.

LUKE!!! Watch your back next Saturday. Treachery lies in wait, so take care.

Luke just needs to avoid going to the Theatre of Pompey then.

Why he would want to go there next Saturday or at any other time is anyone's guess.

Not getting my hopes up too high on this one, Norwich have always been a funny side for us down through the years, plus add into te mix that they are scrapping for their lives to stay in the prem and Chris Hughton has the grim reaper in the corner of his eye sight.

We just have to make sure that we come out of the traps like a greyhound from the off and put the game to bed early on, and with Ruddy in goal for them be a bit more quicker around their goal, none of this pit pat "after you" "no after you, I insist" nonsense.

i can see Chambers back in, as he played well against Liverpool and I believe had a full 90 in mid week for England before Palace.

As always though certainly looking forward to Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants a cheap ticket for the game and doesn't mind sitting on their hands for 90 mins and not cheering (which applies to 70% of our support anyway) you can go in the away send for £10 off (an example of a club who actually uses the away fan fund for what it was INTENDED for)

http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/20140310-southampton-a-1409222.aspx

so Norwich fans only paying £22, might bring a few down at that price. We seem to have played them midweek quite a lot in recent years as well.

That would have been my ideal (not alone I am sure!) starting XI from day one this season. Shocking they've not yet had one game together! Davis not done much wrong, but still think Gaston is a better bet, especially at home, especially when he needs gametime to get up to speed, and he has looked quality recently. Get him in there!

Would be my line up for this one. I hope VW puts the boot in on Bradley Johnson.

Norwich haven't scored more than one goal in ages, in fact only twice this whole season in the league and one of those was the first game of the season.

They rely heavily on set pieces to get their goals.

Bassong has been terrible lately.

These are the ways we beat Norwich, restrict their set pieces, attack Bassong and score 2 or more goals.

Hughton is a poor manager, they're in real danger of relegation this year. Just look at their last 4 fixtures of the season. They need to be safe by then...

The problem with playing Rodriguez as a lone striker is that he does not link up the play.. he's a runner playing off the shoulder of the last defender. That's great when we are playing on the break (hence his good away scoring record) but not when we have to break teams down who have eight behind the ball.

Maybe give Gallagher another run.. cos Lambert needs a rest.

Boruc

Clyne Lovren Fonte Shaw

Morgan Davis (Maybe JWP)

Lallan Gaston Jay Rod

Lambert

Norwich will come for a scrappy draw, we don't need two very defensive minded midfielders and we need to use the ball as best as possible to Wanyama on the bench for me.

It wasn't that long ago that JRod was crying out to be played centrally as a striker rather than out wide. In fact, I remember him doing bloody well there when he was given that chance, so I'd like to see him in that same position again. I still also want to see JRod and Gallagher given a run of a few games together.

I'm fairly sure Poch will start with Davis' date=' and given his consistent performances I'd be happy with that. I'd be surprised if there were any more changes than bringing in Wanyama for Cork tbh.[/quote']

Consistent yes, but Ramirez has shown recently an ability of a higher level needed to change games. Le tiss wasnt consistent but Oakley for example was, yet Matty was always the more valuable asset. With Wanyama and Schneiderlin sitting, Ramirez needs to be given a run now.

Not sure I agree. We lose the link between the DM's and front players when Davis doesn't start.

Having said that, Norwich would be the ideal game for us to trial a front 4 of Rickie, Lallana JRod and Gaston.

We're going to have a lot of the ball I would think.

However I fully expect is to start with Davis and bring on Gaston second half.

Just to clarify do you mean Matty or Matty?

yes... I don't think MP sees Lallana and Ramirez starting together so although we may see it has more creative, he obviously sees a problem, maybe both going into the same areas of the pitch..

To be fair, Davis has had a good season and links up the play very well.

Not sure how Ramirez (or anyone) can be criticised for a lack of consistency when they haven't started a reasonable run of games. Nothing against Davis, but I'd like to see Ramirez start 10 games in his position to compare the 2 properly.
I just don't think Ramirez is MP's type of player, too liberal with his use of the ball. We are very, very focused on retaining possession and managing the game, Ramirez just isn't great at that, despite his ability.
