Lambert had another poor game - no doubts about that

was hard to pick a MOTM today as nobody played well (on either side)

was a horrible game, one that we would normally lose - so delighted

Ugly, but got the job done. Just like some of the women I've known.

Defended reasonably well. They had no clear cut chances, but we didn't create too many either. SRL unlucky not to score. Don't think he was as bad as some already suggesting.

Bank the 3 points and move on. Norwich next week. Hopefully it will be like shooting canaries in very small cages.

Poor. If we were back to our fluent passing game we would have walloped them. Five bookings as well. The team looks tired and in need of freshening up. Wanyama's passing was generally terrible - but he was not alone. I am disappointed by how we are performing.

We won? Sometimes it doesn't matter how we play, sometimes results need to be ground out. Cheer up!

Oh, and I would be ****ed off as a Palace fan that Lovren didn't get sent off, not sure Clyne would of got back with their wingers pace as he was flying.

Was 50/50, but I wouldn't have been surprised or p#ss*d to see Lovren sent. Ref's discretion I guess.

1.30am - always feels better going to bed after a win.

Can't believe that some are complaining about the way we won today, are these the same people who moan about us dominating matches but not being clinical ?

Please everyone, just be happy, we won so celebrate !!

Poor game but a welcome 3 points and clean sheet. Didn't look like scoring though, still an area of concern, we won't be gifted opposition mistakes in every game.

Meh' date=' seasons over, the only thing keeping me watching is seeing the development of the youngsters and Lallana's moments of magic. Ho hum.[/quote']

Meh? Ho hum? Bizarre

Very very solid performance against a tough tackling team that really tried their hardest to get something from the match.

Sort of match we'd normally buckle and concede, so very pleased we got something out of it.

Surprises today;

1. Our passing was well below our usual standard

2. Ince - unaware today of what the fuss is about

3. We only scored 1 ;)

Very pleased. Jay MoTD for the goal.

Does this result mean that Pochettino does care after all, and that the players are still motivated despite having nothing to play for? Sarcasm shields down...

Great result and Rodriguez again shows his value to us away from home. Hopefully the injuries aren't serious. We had to take a few bookings today to tough this one out, the win proof that we can compete against physical teams. The top six would be well within reach if we'd done the same against Sunderland, West Ham and Stoke! It still is, mathematically speaking... Last day against Manchester United could be interesting.

This +1.....

When we dominate and lose , folks on here complain, play badly and win, folks on here complain.....I for one don't care how we play from game to game, as long as we clock up 3pts......we have assured ourselves another season in the PL, in a position that is an improvement on last year.....that has to mean something surely?:rolleyes:

The second game in a row where Wanyama comes on for Cork and we lose the dominance and impetus that we had in midfield in the first half. How many times did Wanyama give the ball away? It sounded like quite a few. Thank God we weren't punished for it. But an ugly win, three points and a clean sheet isn't to be sniffed at.

Oh good, we've got over that 40 point mark, so we're safe!!!! ;)

Not great to watch, same old possession football with little end product...but we got a scrappy goal out of it in the end. Places like this are always mega-hard to go to at this stage of the season, so getting three points has to be seen as a pretty sound return.

Lambert had a stinker though. No idea what to do with him. He seems to forgotten how to control, touch, pass, move, hold up, head, finish. We are carrying him at this present moment.

Ugly away win and clean sheet. Palace have a good home record too.

Personally am very pleased and now we have a winnable home game to come next. COYS!

Long way to go if we want to be good enough for top 10.

Not true. We are in the top 10 and will finish the season in the top 10. The Betfair odds of our finishing in the top 10 are 25 to 1 on.

Perhaps I'm being a little bit 'infantile' but this win means that idiot Lawrenson got it wrong again. I'm so pleased we now have in excess of forty points. Narch next week is nailed on.

COYS

Also we have now done the double over Palace, Fulham and Hull, with Cardiff and Swansea still to play. Have we ever done a double over 4 or 5 teams in a season before?

Yep, already done 4 this season as we did the double over West Brom.

Think I'd be tempted to leave him on the bench vs Norwich.

Shaw clearly MOM today. Was excellent.

Still worries me though....quite a few passes were well short of their intended target.

For 'quite a few' read 'virtually all'. Still a great asset for his power and tackling, just needs to get the simple passes right first then develop from there.

Good point. I guess we can't really accuse this team of beating the top sides and f**king up the easy games any more.

We have now played all our matches against the current bottom 5. Won 8 and drawn 2. We've only lost twice against the teams in the bottom half.

Would you have been happy with 8th or 9th at the beginning of the season?

Top 8 + decent cup run was my minimum expectation

With the squad we have that was achieveable imho

We dont tend to hear much of your opinion? Are you just another of these posters that just post about posters and make snide comments, but never offer an opinion of your own?

We have no one else. Gallagher is nowhere near good enough at present.

Agree with this Gallagher is not quite ready yet. Feel very sorry for SRL as he is 32 and playing every game and has no one else to help him in that position. He must feel a great amount of pressure being the only lone striker with only an inexperienced CF behind him. Our main priority in the summer (as well as keeping our players) is bringing in a forward to help SRL in the CF position.

You do have to laugh at some posts. Passes came up short because Palace kept the grass longer. The pitch was also very bumpy.

I think that was a brilliant effort in very difficult circumstances. Lots of long balls and a very physical match.

Well done Saints. Jay-Rod MoM for his opportunism.
