Professional job. Good defending against an improving Palace team with everything to play for. Only negatives are the injury to Cork and Lambert looking hopeless at the minute.

Well done Saints.

Terrible result for Glasgow not getting the match reaction thread. He might be cutting himself shortly.

Excellent boring win, just what we need. Hopefully something to build on but doesn't sound like we were tested that much today.

dont worry he will try and keep bumping his up lol

Solid, unspectacular stuff. Defence pretty awesome. Decent stuff played in the first half. Poor poor Palace team. Some tired players out there (Rickie).

Great to see Victor back at his dominant best. Hope Jack and Jose are OK - the latter was still being treated as the players left the pitch.

Still worries me though....quite a few passes were well short of their intended target.

Also we have now done the double over Palace, Fulham and Hull, with Cardiff and Swansea still to play. Have we ever done a double over 4 or 5 teams in a season before?

Getting away from the negativity of the match thread, there were lots of positives to take:

Good away performance - controlled the game - got the goal - clean sheet - 3 points.

Nice to get back to winning ways after three disappointing results. Didn't sound the best game but nice to see we can win ugly. Wish Lambert's shot had of gone in rather than hit the post both for his confidence and my nerves sake.

Hope Cork is not badly hurt, though nice for once to have Vic to fall back on.

Nice to see us grind out a result. A better team may well have punished us but at the same time as the quality of our squad improves we'll start to pick up more results like this. Very happy to get back to winning ways and hopefully it'll be a shot in the arm for the squad heading into the last part of the season.

Lovren getting treatment on the pitch after the whistle. Limping back to dressing room. #saintsfc

Doesn't surprise me, Jerome was throwing himself into our players when he came on with obvious fouls not given. Think he clocked Lovren at the end as well.

Thought we defended well against Stoke MkII at set pieces and crosses coming in, Wanyama for his **** passing did break a lot up by winning the ball in the air as well as the ground. Just can't pass the ball at all.

Good win, good opportunity to make it 2 on the bounce next week.

Very scrappy game that was always likely to be settled by a scrappy goal. Just glad it went our way, because we didn't really create anything else except for Lambert's chance when he hit the post.

Had to work hard for it, as you would expect against a team fighting for survival, but Palace didn't really pose a serious threat and never troubled Boruc.

Very difficult to pick out a MOTM, but my vote goes to Schneiderlin. A solid, hard-working midfield performance that was just what we needed today.

Poor. If we were back to our fluent passing game we would have walloped them. Five bookings as well. The team looks tired and in need of freshening up. Wanyama's passing was generally terrible - but he was not alone. I am disappointed by how we are performing.

Three points and JRod scored an interesting goal. Lallana and Shaw exceptional again. Lambert continues to struggle to make an impact as a striker. Our season is over...or not...

Not a great performance but I guess it shows that we can win ugly.

I'm a massive Lambert fan and have defended him a lot this season despite him not being at his best but he was really, really poor today. Probably the worst player on the pitch, he just kept getting the ball caught under his feet and losing possession. Andy Carroll is going to go to the World Cup imo.
