benjii Posted 6 March, 2014 Share Posted 6 March, 2014 Just finished watching an episode of Storyville, a documentary series on BBC 4, that looks at the South Sudan national football team. As you might imagine for the world's youngest country, born of a brief hiatus in regional warfare and 98% reliant on oil exports to its uneasy divorcee in the north, it's all a far cry from the world inhabited by Rooney and other such gormless, perfumed ponces. Anyway, it's about more than football and it's certainly not just Cool Runnings on grass /dust. From the mad Serbian coach, the striker with over fifty siblings, the vice President with the huge gold watch, the spectre of malaria and the struggle for basic infrastructure it's well worth a watch. Highly recommended.
