When do you break up for Christmas?

My c*nt of an employer will have us working till mid-day on Christmas eve.

We are however coming back on the 5th which is mighty kind of the c*nt.

Pretty much the same. Haven't worked Christmas Eve for years though, finishing at 2pm. Back full of enthusiasm on 5th January.

What you moaning about? :p

Finish 6pm Christmas eve back 29th.

When I worked at the uni last year, I had almost three weeks off. Ah well, I love my job now.

Finish sometime before 5pm on Friday and not back until 5th Jan

Same here, though I might hang around until about 5.30 ish just in case there's any more mince pies on offer.

Tempting as mince pies may be I wont hang around, its probably the only day of the year I get to leave early

Finish at 4.30 xmas eve, but I wont be "working" that day. I shall be at work drinking alcohol and hoping to win stuff in a raffle.

Would have been back on 29th but I'm off skiing. Back on the 2nd and finish at 2pm.

I finish the Tuesday before Christmas and go back the first Monday after new year.

Works out about 5days holiday taken which is pretty good.

Going to really enjoy this, first holiday in the real world following uni / college and the crazy long holidays.

Now I know what people mean by actually appriciating time off!

Nah, just think it's funny anyone with less than 17days off.

but how many of those days do you have to take as leave, and how many are free? For me, I'm having to take a whole 4 days a/l for my extended break :D

None.

Which leaves 6 weeks to take the rest of the year at times when the weather is nicer :D

Working shiftwork, we don't get a set period off work except for Christmas day.

However due to some splendid holiday-swapping on my part, and some sheer luck, I finish work at half ten this Saturday evening and am not back in until midday Sunday (the one after Christmas). :-)

In addition I have rest days on New Years eve and News Day, so all in all it's going to be a good festive period.

:D I thought someone might get in before I changed it! Talk about Scrooge if I only got 14 hours off for Christmas!

I'm happy with 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 31st and 1st off.

The week before Xmas too

I wouldn't be suprised in this multi-national company!

My mate (a colleague here) is most unfortunate this year. His day off for the Christmas week actually falls on Christmas day, which we get off anyway, so he has this Sunday off, and is then working all the way through until January 1st. What's worse for him, is that he's working an early on Boxing Day, so can't even drink on Christmas day.

What does he get? A day off in lieu. To be taken sometime in March. I try not to gloat...

I am on rest days from this Thursday until starting back on nights this coming Sunday, then on nights finishing Sat 27th at 08.00 Then rest days until starting back on Tues 30th.

In short? No break up for Christmas.

What work do you do ESB?

Mr TF would have had to do much the same, except he saved up some annual leave and so misses a day and a night shift.
