S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 JWP is having a bit of a bad spell at the mo, similar happened last year. Started the season strongly, looked class...and then dropped off. Maybe he's getting fatigued?
Bewildered Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 u21s 1-0 up now, mainly thanks to a bad piece of goalkeeping.
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Bit of annoying that none of our lads start the match. You can sense that there will be a million changes at half time, which will disrupt the game and make it much harder for the likes of Jay and Luke to impress. Let's see what happens I guess.
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Heavy Liverpool bias in the first half, probably swap around for the Saints attacking trio in the second. It'd be a bit unfair to give the Liverpool lads a go with players they all know and then shove Saints in mix matched, as he did last time round.

They are very much the form team not us right now and TBH Lallana and Shaw are probably the only ones from our group that will genuinely challenge. Lallana being the only one thst personally Id actually name in the England team right now

I'm pretty sure Roy said he could only use 17 players today so there's the real chance none of our boys may come on... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/18804/9196780/world-cup-hopefuls-stake-claims-for-places-on-plane
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 that England band is dreadful I do much prefer the gentle buzz of a sh*t atmosphere like we have right now.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 I do much prefer the gentle buzz of a sh*t atmosphere like we have right now. the band have ruined any hope of a decent atmosphere at and england game.
Patrick Bateman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Heavy Liverpool bias in the first half, probably swap around for the Saints attacking trio in the second. It'd be a bit unfair to give the Liverpool lads a go with players they all know and then shove Saints in mix matched, as he did last time round. Why? The "Liverpool lads" are second in the league and absolutely flying. Wouldn't beat against them pulling a sly one off and winning their first league since before Souness dismantled a very very good team. Our lads are great, but to compare the two sets is a little weird. I would have liked to have seen Shaw start though. I think we'll see Lallana for the second 45 and perhaps Jay for 10 mins.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 wilshere is screwed lallana is coming on woohoooo could be the curse of the metatarsal
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 wilshere is screwed Wengers going to go mental As good as he is his career is going to be blighted by injury
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Wengers going to go mental As good as he is his career is going to be blighted by injury maybe not. he is going to try and carry on looked in real pain, though
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Gerrard is quality, how anyone says otherwise is mental
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Gerrard is quality, how anyone says otherwise is mental Yep, not many players in the world can win the ball and run 5 yards before being fouled.
Dark Munster Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Fantastic pass from Rooney to Johnson, who fecks up (of course).
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Yep, not many players in the world can win the ball and run 5 yards before being fouled. Yup, its not just that though is it, clearly a very very good player Still the numpties that dont see it though
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Gerrard has run the show so far, but it's a bit of an unimaginative performance so far. Very sideways, safe, back etc.
bender Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Watching England is soo excruciating and painful certainly when there are no Saints players
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Gerrard has run the show so far, but it's a bit of an unimaginative performance so far. Very sideways, safe, back etc. very ROY like
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 very ROY like very much so, nothing is happening at all. Sterling has been alright in the final third, but Rooney has been a non-event.
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Gerrard has run the show so far, but it's a bit of an unimaginative performance so far. Very sideways, safe, back etc. Theres no real movement in the forwards as such, Sterlings giving plenty of running but Sturridge is wasted out wide IMO, good on the ball but gets isolated I think.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 think a few players are (as usual) playing for themselves. I always get that impression with sturridge but very very very dull and ordinary against a side who never even qualified
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Theres no real movement in the forwards as such, Sterlings giving plenty of running but Sturridge is wasted out wide IMO, good on the ball but gets isolated I think. He does play wide for Liverpool from time to time, but then he has the movement up top from Suarez to open it up a bit. Rooney just doesn't do anything.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 He does play wide for Liverpool from time to time, but then he has the movement up top from Suarez to open it up a bit. Rooney just doesn't do anything. I wish rooney would just stay up top. yeah offer movement but when you see him chasing the ball down by his own left back......such a waste
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Maybe biased, but I'd take off Wiltshire and bring on Lallana. Play him just in behind and get a bit more rotation going on. The 3 of Gerrard, Henderson and Wiltshire are all too close to each other for me, and the deepest midfielder (gerrard) is the only one seemingly able to open up attacks. Shaw will get 45 mins though, although Cole hasn't done bad. But generally it has been a turd-fest.
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 I wish rooney would just stay up top. yeah offer movement but when you see him chasing the ball down by his own left back......such a waste Id rather see England play 4231 and play Rooney in the hole, he is better as a CF then an out and out striker as your right he likes to involve himself everywhere
captainchris Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 He does play wide for Liverpool from time to time, but then he has the movement up top from Suarez to open it up a bit. Rooney just doesn't do anything. Rooney has been very average for 18 months now. Picked purely on past glories...oh and he plays for you know who !!!!
Foxy Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 He does play wide for Liverpool from time to time, but then he has the movement up top from Suarez to open it up a bit. Rooney just doesn't do anything. Not having Suarez alongside them gives a more realistic impression of The Liverpool contingent
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Rooney has been very average for 18 months now. Picked purely on past glories...oh and he plays for you know who !!!! Worth 300k per week though, apparently. I'd do well to earn that in my life.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Id rather see England play 4231 and play Rooney in the hole, he is better as a CF then an out and out striker as your right he likes to involve himself everywhere maybe. in this formation, he does neither
nta786 Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Rooney has not justified his 300k contract. Hes just going for glory now... 2 shots from the edge of the box
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 That was much better, more rotation and opened them right up. Really should have been a goal.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Roy Hodgson is like a Vampire, sucking the life out of good footballers
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Roy Hodgson is like a Vampire, sucking the life out of good footballers Let's hope he doesn't have too much effect on Adam and Luke! (He's already done a job on Lambert..!!!)
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Rooney really is utter utter shi@e No, I'm not having that. He's far, far worse.
Mattio Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 I've always said Kasper Schmeichel(sp) could do a job for us, I reckon he'd be great competition to Boruc, anyone agree?
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 I've always said Kasper Schmeichel(sp) could do a job for us, I reckon he'd be great competition to Boruc, anyone agree? Good GK, would cost a fortune though with Leicester seemingly champions-elect.
aintforever Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 If Lambert had played as bad as Rooney did that half they would have been banging on about it for the last 10 mins.
Batman Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Tom Cleverley's position in the England squad has been furiously debated by fans in recent days after a disappointing campaign with Manchester United. And the anger at his inclusion was clear to hear this evening, as his name was booed after being read out by the stadium announcer at Wembley. from the paper
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 Rooney has been very average for 18 months now. Picked purely on past glories...oh and he plays for you know who !!!! Apart from his Utd form pre injury ? Being the only one really that came out with any credit ? Unlucky from Sterling, gonna be a good little player
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 That was much better, more rotation and opened them right up. Really should have been a goal. First time Cole's properley driven at them, hopefully Lukee will kill em
RonManager Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 If Lambert had played as bad as Rooney did that half they would have been banging on about it for the last 10 mins. If Rickie had been in on that chance that the defender put onto the post, both ball and defender would've been in the back of the net.
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2014 Posted 5 March, 2014 from the paper Ouch, wonder what his family think sat there listening to that. Part of me wants to see him come on just to hear the reaction...
