Batman Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 Needs to be back in the side IMO We let in far too many goals Early on in the season, we were getting points when only scoring 1 Now we have to score at least 2 to get anything
Batman Posted 1 March, 2014 Author Posted 1 March, 2014 So which is it? He's been in poor form and added nothing when he came on, yet Cork has been very good. Do you want form or not? Should off form players be dropped or brought back in? Seems to change with every post you make. What are you on about?
CanadaSaint Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 Corky didn't have his best game today. Unusually for him, things seemed to be passing him by, especially in the second half. That said, the last thing Wanyama needs is to be playing short of match fitness because his passing doesn't need to be 20% below a normal that's barely good enough anyway.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 He looks like he's put on about 3 stone. Doesn't look anywhere near fit enough in body or mind at the moment.

Batman Posted 1 March, 2014 Author Posted 1 March, 2014 Wrong has played poorly since his injury and on current form not good enough. Of course he is. Been in and out and not fully match fit Either way, we are not winning and letting in a few goals a game I think we should get him back in. Just an opinion.

Its not about form as such... we definitely look more susceptible defensively without Wanyama. the form of Cork is irrelevant as they are very different players.

We look abysmal when Wanyama is on the pitch at the moment. He's 5 seconds behind everyone else and he doesn't deserve to displace Cork.
melmacian_saint Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 The only reason why people seem to think that we are conceding a lot is only because we are not scoring. Or worse, not shooting.
ringwood Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 VW currently wouldn't win a tackle against JC as he'd get nowhere near him on the pitch, on his current form all he does is slow up the play for Saints, when on form he slows it up for the opponent.
Norm Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 He looks like he's put on about 3 stone. Doesn't look anywhere near fit enough in body or mind at the moment. Have to agree re the size of him. Looks overweight to me.
Avenue Saint Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 Wanyama needs to come in a pick up match fitness, simple. Ramirez needs to come in for Davis. Clyne needs to come in for Chambers. Oh and buy a finisher in the summer, thanks Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 It always takes several games after an injury like that to get back up to speed and to go into tackles with total confidence.

Kingsbridge Saint Posted 1 March, 2014 Posted 1 March, 2014 Every time a Wanyama pass reaches a Saints player its like a small miracle has occurred. Add to that his lack of mobility. Needs to work really hard on his fitness and sort his distribution out. A good player, but not at the moment.

Chambers is there on merit and is our best RB at this present moment. Ramirez hasn't done enough to start football matches, best used as a sub. Although he was pretty useless yesterday.
saintbob40 Posted 2 March, 2014 Posted 2 March, 2014 I think it was a mistake to agree to pay him in Mars bars.

Didnt see whole game, been in and out of hospital after new baby boy saint added to fanbase. Just think logically need to go back to what served us so well before. Wanyama was obviously a BIG strong part of that. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk The problem is he is so far from being the player that dominated one or two teams earlier in the season, that having him in the side weakens us big style. The match fitness should be gained in training and with the under 21s side. Personally I think we are a worse side to watch with him in it, but result wise it's hard to argue.

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk I did see the whole game and the only noteworthy action that I can remember from Wanyama after he came on was clattering Suarez and getting booked and then argueing with the ref about it. Massively overweight but then he has been since he first came back from injury.

Cork was a bit less effective when Davis went off and was replaced by Ramirez. I don't know whether Davis was carrying a knock, or whether it was just tactical, but I knew when it happened that we would lose control of the midfield and so it proved. If it was a tactical thing, then Pochettino's credentials really need a good hard look at. Until Wanyama slims down and sharpens up, he will be a liability to our style of play.

Funny, I remember a fantastic 40 yard ball diagonally into the box that was only just headed away from Lambert by Skrtel for a corner.
