Viking Warrior Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Three years ago Dean Richards sadly passed away. One of the many great centre backs who played for us A player I will always remember
Berudenot2 Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Gone too soon. RIP Deano. Great servant of the club, such a sad loss to his family, friends and fans.
bpsaint Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Up there with Killer as the best CB I saw play for Saints. Still disappointed the way the club failed to recognise his passing the way his other clubs did, espically being the first captain to lead out the Saints at St Mary's.
david in sweden Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Up there with Killer as the best CB I saw play for Saints. Still disappointed the way the club failed to recognise his passing the way his other clubs did, espically being the first captain to lead out the Saints at St Mary's. perhaps .......an example of Nicola Cortese's " lack of respect " for the club's (previous) history, and its former players.
rooney Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 An excellent player and we got him on a free too.
Greenridge Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Met him at a golf club in Hampshire where he was staying the night prior to signing. Nice guy and went on to be a great servant to the club.
OttawaSaint Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Haven't seen anyone better than tracking the play and getting into position as Deano. Could score a few goals too.
davefoggy Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 Immense player, great for us and a lovely bloke to. Maybe we can do something Saturday???
davefizzy14 Posted 26 February, 2014 Posted 26 February, 2014 RIP Deano, again up there with Killer as one of our best Centre Backs.
david in sweden Posted 28 February, 2014 Posted 28 February, 2014 two memorable seasons alongside Claus Lundekvam in central defence..though it may have seemed like "Glory, Glory" when Hoddle tempted him to Spurs...... he was never the same player afterwards. A real 100%-er who was never afraid to spill blood for the cause. Nice memories, Deano... RIP
Turkish Posted 28 February, 2014 Posted 28 February, 2014 He was a fantastic centre half and perhaps unfortunate to have been around when England had quite a few quality centre halves otherwise he'd surely have got a few England caps. Remember him suffering from illness and dizzy spells when he was at spurs which caused him to retire early and it was a real shock to hear he'd died, was it a brain rumour? Lovely fella by all accounts.
kpturner Posted 28 February, 2014 Posted 28 February, 2014 Met him at a golf club in Hampshire where he was staying the night prior to signing. Nice guy and went on to be a great servant to the club. Fairthorne Manor? . Nearly gave you away there.......
alpine_saint Posted 28 February, 2014 Posted 28 February, 2014 The circumstances under which he left us stuck in the throat, but never wished harm to him and was saddened to hear of his death at so young an age. RIP, Deano
