kitch Posted 3 April, 2014 Posted 3 April, 2014 I'll stick my neck right out and say I liked last year's kit so much I bought it! That hasn't happened since 94/95 Pony/Dimplex.

Jai27 Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 not unique fc rouen dh normadie league in essence do we want to copy a third division French power brand or remain tinpot with our stripes That chaps pretty much a walking sponsor!
Cestrian Saint Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 The full red kit does make some sense... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/6097954/Why-teams-in-red-win-more.html The club seem to be heavily into sports science and looking at ways to gain the slightest advantage. If wearing Red has a psychological effect and makes us feel more confident as well as being perceived by others as more aggressive and dominant then I'm all for it.
The9 Posted 4 April, 2014 Author Posted 4 April, 2014 not unique fc rouen dh normadie league in essence do we want to copy a third division French power brand or remain tinpot with our stripes Not to mention that this is a Nike parks team kit design that was worn by Man U three years ago and got foisted on the likes of Southend LAST year. And it's Nike, and we have an Adidas deal...
sotonist Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 That chaps pretty much a walking sponsor! missed the shirt collar opportunity.
Village Saint Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 do inters stripes make them look tin pot how about barcas tinpot blue and red stripes amateur outfit and oh how completely pub league are juve And of course AC. No stripes are much, much classier. We simply must get these back as soon as possible.
Ohio Saint Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 We will be in stripes, with cut outs for Lucy Pinder's boobies.
BlakeySFC Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 We will be in stripes, with cut outs for Lucy Pinder's boobies. oooo sexist.
Chez Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 The badges on the socks fell off very quickly on mine. Disgracefully poor quality. I wrote into on the march fanzine to express my disgust as there were no mongboards in those days to complain on. yet the shorts and shirt had the Hummel branding stitched in, making it far superior to the **** on offer these days.
kitch Posted 4 April, 2014 Posted 4 April, 2014 The 2 worst kits in 40 years.. have you thought about going into design? Not really no, because being just my own opinion and all that doesn't translate into potential sales. Oh..........you were being funny. I get it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 April, 2014 Posted 9 April, 2014 Its so simple, the Athletico Madrid top, quite simply the best top in World football for looks. I see your team are doing rather well at the moment...
trousers Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Liverpool first out of the blocks with their new kit?

pap Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 It looks like the matrix Yeah, well I see blonde, brunette....
Saint Charlie Posted 10 April, 2014 Posted 10 April, 2014 Stoke's stripe effort is horrible. As have been their last few home shirts.
Jai27 Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Stoke's stripe effort is horrible. As have been their last few home shirts. There's no denying that Stokes kit in comparison to the Liverpool and Chelsea shirts looks awful.
Mowgli Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 As stripes go it's not too bad. Prefer plain though. Rank Xerox style appears to be the best compromise (who would have thought they would be still reaping the rewards of sponsorship so many years later!!).
The Kraken Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 I think the actual shirt of Stoke is about ok, but the massive red sponsor panel looks utterly gash. Quite why kits can't just be designed with a bit of thought with this in mind is ridiculous, it's really not hard to knock up a bespoke template rather than ending up with some utterly cheap looking tat.
sarblaster Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Going down the Atletico route wouldn't hurt and it's in-keeping with the original blue instead of black. Much rather look like them than Sunderland/Brentford/Exeter. I nabbed this off the net and couldn't resist a spot of tinkering; First person to guess which team it came from gets a sweetie.

Saint86 Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 This. The people who don't like stripes are very much in the minority. I am beginning to think that is the other way around tbh, that or its a very close split. And to be fair, the people who hark on about red and white striped shirts with black shorts being saints' kit really need to go look at the history books as it is not our traditional kit. Just our more recent history. I have personally come to the opinion that stripes represent the old saints, and that our new kit suits are high pressing aggressive football, its actually one of my favorite kits of recent seasons, couple with the championship stripes (which i still wear to matches) and the sash. For me, we either have a predominantly white striped kit, a sash kit, or something similar to this seasons. I don't think Rank xerox will happen to be honest. All those kits listed are broadly different to the fat striped kits of yesteryear or in use by other teams. But that is just me. I think if this years kit had not had gold on it, it would have been a stunner.

(Sash for the away ) It's almost a carbon copy of bilbao, but that is not addidas. Either way I'll guess at bilbao? Love the addition of Navy!

Regardless of whether anyone like stripes or not, do you really think this year's kit, with or without gold, is a stunner? It looks s**t, very cheap indeed. By the way, what other kit styles suit certain styles of play? I never knew the two were so closely aligned.

Jai27 Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Blue? BLUE?! Change the blue for gold and that's just about the best possible outcome for a striped kit.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 have to say watching Atletico Madrid the other night, the blue shorts looked good and if they are the colours we'd used in the past, then maybe we should return that way. Plus, I liked watching a red and white striped team make the semis of the Champions league very much
CB Fry Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Regardless of whether anyone like stripes or not, do you really think this year's kit, with or without gold, is a stunner? It looks s**t, very cheap indeed. By the way, what other kit styles suit certain styles of play? I never knew the two were so closely aligned. Swindon Town, Bristol City, Barnsley and all the other forward thinking modern football clubs in plain red have always played a high pressing modern style of football. We only started with this season's stunner of a kit. Maybe Fulham or Norwich should change to a stunner plain red kit for the last five games of the season. Safety assured.
St Jim Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Yep, short of getting one similar to early 80's Xerox era kit, this with dark blue shorts for me would look the K9's knackers! good work sarblaster
Griffo Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 I have personally come to the opinion that stripes represent the old saints, and that our new kit suits are high pressing aggressive football. That is one of the strangest things I've ever read.
DuncanRG Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 I like it. Our striped shirts look far tackier once the sponsor's on though, sadly
sebastian firefly Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 that's nice simple change the blue for black
niceandfriendly Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 (edited) I just saw into the future and we were wearing this kit... even had the dodgy photoshopping! Oh! what's this? Aissshhh... looks like Brentford or Sheffield United with that sponsor Edited 11 April, 2014 by niceandfriendly

alehouseboys Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Yep, very nice shirt, very traditional for us with the deep cherry red stripes and dark blue (the skates were still wearing pink back in those days). Only problem is it's adidas and if the rumours are true...
Colinjb Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 Yep, very nice shirt, very traditional for us with the deep cherry red stripes and dark blue (the skates were still wearing pink back in those days). Only problem is it's adidas and if the rumours are true... Agreed, a nice throwback to the very early kits. But with the Addidas stock on 50% off in the club shop + the rumours..... I just hope we get a good option next year.

The Kraken Posted 11 April, 2014 Posted 11 April, 2014 And to be fair, the people who hark on about red and white striped shirts with black shorts being saints' kit really need to go look at the history books as it is not our traditional kit. Saints wore red and white stripes and dark blue shorts from the inception of Southampton Football Club in 1896 to 1950. From 1950 to 1980 it was red and white stripes with black shorts. From 1980 to 1989 it was a mix of red and white tops, but always with black shorts. Then back to red and white stripes until the masterful Cortese revolution (with the sash along the way for posterity). So red and white stripes are clearly our traditional kit. And since 1950, with black shorts. I have personally come to the opinion that stripes represent the old saints, and that our new kit suits are high pressing aggressive football. I have personally come to the opinion that you are a dribbling moron. A kit does not define a side's football. The Rank Xerox kit was not great because it was worn during a period when Saints were a great side. It was a great kit because it was a great kit.
Smirking_Saint Posted 12 April, 2014 Posted 12 April, 2014 I just saw into the future and we were wearing this kit... even had the dodgy photoshopping! Oh! what's this? Aissshhh... looks like Brentford or Sheffield United with that sponsor Sorry bud that looks horrible I dont mind the other photoshop option with the blue trim, looks quite nice. In general I dont much like stripes at all. This years kit Ive got used to and dont mind. The away this year is the best we have had for a while. Though Im not one to judge really as id never buy a football top anyway.
Saint Charlie Posted 13 April, 2014 Posted 13 April, 2014 Sheff Utd stripes also look terrible. Stripes can be great but lots of examples where they look crap.
sebastian firefly Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 That is just awful hideous, downright ugly
Badger Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Stripes look rubbish with most sponsors. I like this template shirt, if someone wants to mock it up with Saints badge and sponsor. Similar to the Hearts shirt a couple of seasons ago.
krissyboy31 Posted 21 April, 2014 Posted 21 April, 2014 Hull City have just announced a new deal with Umbro. Thought they were defunct?
